Just received notice that Lonely Island Club was TGC approved. This isn’t my first course design, but is my first entry into the approved database.
While it didn’t live on in the CC competition I am proud of this effort. Reversible courses don’t do well in design competitions, but this course would make for a great society track. Long or short tees, the greens will challenge you, yet low scores are gettable.
Look for the Lonely Island Club Par 3 coming this week.

Congrats to all who got through the group stage and look forward to seeing who wins it. Cant lie, I'm absolutely gutted not to get through but we move on and try to improve the next one.

No rush on them though, know they are very busy and in a bit of depression mode so bit of time removed from result to receiving them might be for the best. |

I'm going to read way too far into the fact that my course was the thumbnail for the stream that I am now the favorite to win the comp. Kind of ruined the suspense for me, but definitely unexpected making it past round 1 with how great the courses out there are. Good luck in round 2 everyone!  |

Not shocked I didn't make it through, there are tons of great courses in my Group. I will say this, I was shocked to search by top rated courses last night to see Point Lobos with 5 Stars, on the first page and 3000 Plays. Thanks to the judges and the grind continues.

Congrats and good luck to everyone moving on! Knew I wasn't going to make it out of the group stage but I definitely had a lot of fun participating in my first contest, looking forward to the next one!

Congrats to all, had a fun time making my first full 18 project and despite not moving on, I prodded mattf for the judge’s notes and they make a lot of sense. Specifically, the spots where both judges overlapped on opinion, are really informative for solidifying some consensus on what worked and what didn’t. I didn’t have high expectations and built for the experience and feedback, and so in that regard I think ya’ll exceeded my expectations for the advice and response I did get. I felt like I learned a lot with this and am becoming much more familiar with the designer, which is also making me utilize my free time better.
BBBBBBIIIIIIGGGGG props to the judges for this contest, and good luck to those moving on!

Not sure if is official, but Wayne ( WhatAboutAmeobi) said Lonely Island Club was a contender for “That's a Bold Strategy Cotton” award for my reversible course entry. Since I didn’t move on, I decided to give myself a trophy with that on it and am picking it up later today from the trophy store. |

I think I will continue to get the "least improved since rookie contest while all other new designers go past him" award.
I know that is down to planting but I can never achieve what my vision is for the planting and then get frustrated. Plus it is so time consuming when you have limited time. Add to the fact I am not really artistically minded.
But it is what it is. Good luck to all those that made it through. Having been a judge in multiple contests I know how tough the decisions can be when so many courses are deserving and people just have to miss out on progressing.
