In case anyone is wondering how it’s going, I’ve hired a witch doctor to shout spells at me while I sit alone in a dark room, holding a spear and wearing a tribal headdress as Toto’s Africa plays on an endless loop in the background.
Inspiration should hit soon...

Inspiration should hit soon... Just remember that toto's africa is a purposefully inaccurate song about africa told from the perspective of someone who's never been.

Are we allowed to post pictures of our courses in construction? Yes, WIP threads are allowed.

That might explain why I’ve got sh%$ so far.

But didn't the Kristen Bell / Dax Shepard cover fix that?

I've went back to my first plot as I think the light coloured cliffs are more suitable for a Greek course. I thought I'd lay something down so at least I have a foundation to build on, so I opted for a coastal par 3.

Found it... Saltos del Laja, Chile Crutch... Playing to my strengths... Yes. Perhaps you’ll give my Design League 2 entry, which includes a bunch of big waterfalls in the six hole routing. Search for Tree Falls 6 and it’s the one with the massive waterfall for the thumbnail. Looking forward to seeing your new course interpretation.

First time I am actually doing holes in order. Quite happy with what I have so far and how the first 2 play. Will try and get a WIP hoping in a few days time. All tee boxes are done for all 18 and major sculpting. Just need to get the other 16 holes done. First time I have tried a custom clubhouse too. Desert is not my thing but I am enjoying this. I have a big lake with a large island in the middle to represent the main island of Bahrain.
Looking forward to everyone's courses and hoping I squeeze in for a wildcard spot.

Well, I reckon my course encompasses twice as many continents as most others...

I'm a planner/drawer rather then go in and find the course in the plot. Routing and hole ideas all drawn up. I generall like a more interweaving of the 9's on my routing then two seperated areas. But none of those options worked as well as this one. There will be views across the valley so hinting of whats to come on the fornt 9 holes and reminding of what was played on the back 9. $ will swing out a bit more so that 4/5/7 cluster wont be as bunched. Hole adjacenies also change slightly as I enter them int he designer and shift stuff around so we will see but here's the bones. I finished these the other night. I always get a little anxiety before hoping in the designer on a new plot and procrastinate a bit. But I finished up my course for another competition that's publish date is a week or two before this. Sense I go in with a set plan I still am figuring out the best sequence of the intial set up and major land movements (especially this one where it will be premuim) but feel my design league entry I figured it out a bit better so I wont be fighting the land as hard to get right as I did on my first couple publishes. It worked on the course I just finished up but this one will have much more dramatic land changes. Still working on the balance of "random land undulations" vs "planned land undulations with a purpose" but thats more for later in the process.

I've already tore up a couple of plots for my Netherlands course. Here's my problem - the general terrain in the Netherlands is so flat, that if I built a course using either the linksland on the coast or a course in the higher hills of the south it wouldn't be convincingly Holland. Struggling to pin down a design style as well. Trying to work out what would suit the country best - and I am not going to build a polder (look it up, you'll see why I don't like it) course. I'm very keen on the really clean designs of mjhamilton113 and Energ1ser - could be a good starting point.
