Finished my tournament yesterday... with another dissapointing round of golf. Struggled again as I did in R2, especially on the front nine. Was sitting in the halfway house with +4 on my scorecard, followed by two troublesome bogeys on #10 and #11. Fortunately, I managed to score four birdies on my last few holes, finishing of the round with a 74 (+2). R1: 68 (-4) R2: 75 (+3) R3: 68 (-4) R4: 74 (+2)
Total: 285 (-3) Actually, I'm very frustrated about that. With the big guys on the tour playing at Augusta this week, I really thought I might contest for a Top5-finish or so. Now I have to be happy if it's enough for a Top20. Independently of my poor gameplay, I liked the challenge provided by this course. Just couldn't handle it accordingly...

I put up a - 5 in a practice round and felt that I could/should finish in the 10-15 under range for the tournament. After my 2 under first round, I felt like I was well on my way.....until I BLEW UP for an 80 in round 2!! I had 4 dbl bogies on the back 9 alone! I kept finding those short-side bunkers and flubbed my flops (or flopped by flubs ?). So I'm at +6 and may barely make the cut. So pissed off!

After 3 rounds I was 1 under, and then I shot 83 in the 4th round.
I took an 8 on #15 in round 3 and a 9 on the same hole in round 4

So, my -8 total may not be so bad afterall then? Still so annoyed with my last round, 75...

I think -8 will be easily in the top 10, and probably top 5 when it is all said and done.

carded a 65 in rnd 3, only decent wind conditions i had, those waiting for the wind each round will have a massive advantage here... 72 69 65 71

Yeah... being familiar with the course, a while ago, I had suggested the course be pulled until 'tournament winds' came into play... since it's not just wind strength, but direction that plays a major factor in holding greens and scoring. Felt that for this course more so than others we have played, having the winds more comparable was necessary to give everyone a fair and equal opportunity. It was decided against (for reasons that were fair and reasonable). So it's not a TGCT issue... it's an HB issue that such circumstance can exist. They (HB) really need to get that fixed. Unaddressed, long term it will really kick competitive play like TGCT in the nuts.

Having the winds be the same for each player would be a real big step in the right direction toward more fair play for the tournaments. I realize that's not how it is in real life, but you also don't get to choose when you tee off in real life either, or hit 1 shot and leave your ball in the fairway and come back 2 days later. Hopefully that's an update that they introduce in the near future.

I never thought a T16 place could feel that unsatisfactory. On the other hand I'm quiet happy, because we have the first Austrian Win on the European Tour! Well done, Ingo!

Thanks but I never expected that -14 is enough to win this tournament. But after all I played 4 rounds without big mistakes and now I am really happy for the first win of a tournament. I really enjoyed the course because a par is good score and a bogieis not so bad like on other courses because all others could have problems on each hole if a stroke hit the wrong point. Special thanks to the course designer, that's the way I like to play it.

I was -5 after 9 in the final round only to hit the pin twice with a flop on one hole and roll off the green both times, ended up taking an 8 ultimately it cost me the tour as i finished 3rd and 3 shots of first place...it's ok for a course to be tough, but unfair is just not enjoyable and not really up to the standard required for a tour imo.

That pin hitting thing has nothing to do with that course.
Had exactely the same on the 18th at Happy Yeti in my final practice round. And I've seen this happening on TV too.

Sorry mate, but this does come off a bit as sour grapes. Though luck - but maybe aiming for the pin was not the play? Certainly not the second time after you saw the first one. Many times golf is about playing the percentage shot. Personally did not see anything unfair about this course at all. It does play easier in certain winds as pointed out, but that is just hard to avoid. Otherwise its really good as there are certain places you really do not want to put your approach but its quite easy to fall into the trap. Requires a varied and complete short game to keep high numbers away which is really refreshing in this game. Great looking leaderboard except for all those WDs. This was a proper tour course. Together with Bison Run the best so far. Congratulations to the winner - solid play over four rounds!
