It's an excellent update. I hope my -23 Ultra Sim Red Fast video paved the way. I imagine 2K had a vital part in making this happen, especially since HBs head of development is HB_Craig. As for some of my RF videos which were geared at helping those struggling with the game, hang in there . With practice and proper calibration techniques "Perfects" are easily within your grasp. For those on Xbox, seriously, buy a refurbished PS4!!

It was a horror show for me and found the upgrade Series X to be complete game changer. Night and day. Could never exactly pin point what was wrong on XB1 but often felt a randomness creep in to tempo at times, and not a lot of variance in where the tempo polled at. Did you ever figure out exactly what was wrong with XB1 and if so if it changed at all for XB Series X?

I generally have a good tempo but I tend to shift slow very often on my 'best' calibration I've had, but it feels like a bit of a crapshoot to find the "perfect" calibration for me.

I do fella, just pointing out that the ones who dialled in red fasts will do the same calculations if red fasts now go short instead of long. One of the major differences is that it's much more granular with regards to distance loss. Before it felt like wide chunks of the red fast bar gave similar distance. So if you're going to map out red fasts, you'd better be able to hit the exact same spot on the dial or else it won't matter...and that means you have to be more accurate than going for perfects now. If this is the case then it's great news! I better go see if by any chance perfects seem a little easier to do, but if not then I'm still happy. I would like red slows dealt with too, however.

I’m worried about my first drive it’s nearly always a red fast for some reason

I can see a lot of players dropping down the divisions after the latest update. I can also see quite a few quitting the game (which would be a shame).
I’m really happy that PGA 2K21 will be a skill based game, finally.
To all the cheesers, instead of trying to find a new way to exploit the game, try going for perfects. Trust me it’s a lot more satisfying than aiming 30 boxes to the right of the green.

The best way to calibrate on PS4 is to set your controller to wired.
On wireless, I find that distance from the console, battery life and other interference could effect the tempo reading. I've found wired far more consistent.
I love this update. I hated the idea of people playing red fasts all the time.
It still might be a useful technique to avoid water in the right but you have to accept the yardage loss. It sounds quite balanced.
Tho a bit of reading indicates that it can be annoying on short shots but you know what, if you have been playing this way and not mastered playing perfects, then bad luck

Great change! I will just have to figure something out with my driver and woods, as it’s actually impossible by default for me to hit perfect. Nothing to do with ability, all the points are outside the white. Only way to be able to hit perfect is by moving in the intent, which shifts the points a bit, but this also shifts tempo to where I’d need to shoot a little slower to get that perfect. I’ve experimented playing like that before and although I still shot well, it was annoying and required a lot of practice swings due to having two perfect tempos. Might have to give Bluetooth a go again, as I know this gives more swing points. But the reason i switched to wired in the first place is that I found Bluetooth very glitchy and inconsistent at times. Staying wired and just playing for gray fast/gray slow on drives could be another option, pretty confident I could hit that area consistently. As far as irons and wedges it will be no change as I already play perfects.
Edit - practiced a bit using Bluetooth, this was a fluke with the early chips..but I did have a few horrible short putts to cancel them out lol. This was obviously with no pressure, I play nowhere near this fast when it counts, but i still found this funny anyway that I outscored any round I’ve had pre-update at Sawgrass. That includes those with aids on. If anyone is interested here it is...

All cheese eventually goes rotten! Are you sure!? I'm actually not sure. I think most cheeses don't have a very long shelf life, but maybe there are some that can last a few years? I'll google and get back to you.

Never understood the complaining....on either side. It's a video game. Play how you want to play. Got the get off my lawn perfect guys and the red fast millennials arguing now. Kind of funny to watch.

I used to play wired exclusively (for a number of years), but been wireless for ages now - even though I found it harder to hit a specific tempo repeatedly.
The ability to hit different points on the tempo clock felt much better to me. Feedback on what I actually did is much better and calibration is less of a fudge imo.
Began wireless on DShock/ PS4 and kept going on DSense/PS5. Oddly, I experimented with wired again on PS5 recently and had a lot of success, but still seemed to be able to hit a lot of points vs how PS4 felt. Maybe placebo - dunno. Maybe PS5 wired is different.
I’m sure someone can be bothered to run through calibration granularity wired vs wireless (PS4) for those that don’t know - but apologies, it won’t be me.

Kind of funny to watch. Seems the developer finally understood it. The game is better for being able to be played with the difficulty as intended, surely? It’s not about making people play a certain way, it’s about having equal difficulty.
