playing for straights is no more difficult than playing a draw as my test rounds have proven Okay, that’s some strong statistical evidence right there.

Im quite certain that this isn’t true. Beep Boop Sean Abbot provided video evidence of just how this isn’t the case at all. Once you learn the offset and the distances - Max loft, Max spin to increase your chance of a red fast, and just fire away. This is the problem. [edit] Sorry Sean, if you’re out there - not meaning to be intentionally disingenuous, but Beep Boop is just ingrained in my brain now 😊 Well that’s not my experience and I think that’s what counts for me, also, playing for straights is no more difficult than playing a draw as my test rounds have proven Sorry, but these two points make little sense at all in relation to the discussion ongoing here and I don’t believe you’ve proven anything? Where is the proof? Classic head in sand. Just to clear something up? Are you using the shot shaper and trying for perfect tempo to play a draw, or a red fast which produces a hook (of sorts)?

I just had a flashback (not drug induced) to that time right before the game launched when HB Shaun had said no one would shoot under par on Day 1 in Legend setting.
That in itself tells us that the red fast (or any fast) is a flaw/exploit/special on the Cheesecake Factory menu and was never intended to play as it does because the issue existed on day one, even if no one knew it (including whatever third party did the testing).

All I see in this thread is a new “cheese..” comment every few days, if anyone can demonstrate that those consistently shooting -40 or better are hitting fasts on every shot then I’ll pay attention, until then it’s just a bunch of hot air.

Slap away fella. Slap away. Bury your head in the sand, sidestep a crucial difficulty element of the game design and slap away. My question above. Are you a perfect shot shaper or a red faster? Any reason why you favour one approach over other? Probably not... probably a load of hot air.

Do we know that the current top players aren't using the red fast for everything? Perhaps some of us do, I don't watch streams. You can tell just by using a ghost ball with turn order on for a few holes. Checking in on this - I’ve been fast with Dr/3W/3H for most of this game, perfect for everything else, with the occasional fast for in between yardages. If I had to play perfect everything I don’t think it’d weaken my game much, and would prob go slightly more forgiving woods. If I played fast every shot I’d def be more consistent but just don’t enjoy it for approaches.

The difference in the aim markers will be significant when missing the mark with perfect tempo attempts (I know that you know this). Also, by not weakening your game much, what does that mean? A stroke or two? Three or four? Curious what that equals. That answer will mean a lot actually. Let me know if you stream/YouTube those rounds. I’ll check it out.

If he’s on form I don’t think going for perfect drives would cost him many shots at all. For an average player I would say that playing exclusively for fasts probably saves them around 8 strokes a round easy.

Yea I know he’s an excellent player which is why I’m curious about how much it would weaken his game by his own definition. For any player, average or not, 8 strokes is a lot.

Might give it a go this week, will record if I do. I’ll do a round with my normal set-up, and a more forgiving wood set-up

I’d like to see you use the same clubs for each, just to get an equal comparison.

If I played fast every shot I’d def be more consistent but just don’t enjoy it for approaches. Purely subjective, but the difference is probably somewhere between 1-4 shots per nine holes, depending on how often the intentional red fast is used. Over four tournament rounds, my guess is probably between 10 and 30 shots. Pretty significant. Don't think so? Prove it. Even if it's only on drives and 3-woods, going for perfects would probably result in 1-2 more missed fairways per nine (depending on course, of course). Missed fairways turn birdies into pars and pars into bogeys. Not to mention the mental component leading to different course management. For the exclusive red fasters, the difference is probably more alarming if pre-shot planning required intending for perfect. Of course, the gap probably decreases with practice and more conscious effort toward grooving the perfect swing. Similarly, asking a perfect player to start using red fast will probably take some time before scoring is noticeably different. But all things being equal, "executing" a shot with an intentional red fast is significantly easier. Alas, it's HB/2K's fault and nothing will change, but there are numerous videos out there of "top" players throwing 18 holes of darts using red fasts exclusively.

A little confused here... Are all top players using the red fast exclusively or at all? Is it impossible to be a top player and play perfect? Is every single person who does better than me each week playing the red fast? Is every single person who does worse than me each week only doing so because they play for perfect? Do peoples results and scores perhaps depend on the amount of practice they put in and calculations they have developed to read wind and lies etc? Maybe their general knowledge of the video game and the game of golf helps too? Not sure of the answers to any of the above... but I would imagine at the end of the day being a top player on this site who scores well you must be playing the toxic red fast.

I truly don't care who is playing red fasts and doing well. I think I hit 7 under or possibly 8 under in the first round of Kinetic this week playing for perfects on every shot, which of course leaves me well behind the leaders. I think I shot only 1 under in the second round. It's tough to be consistent playing for perfects! It is also much more satisfying than gaming the swing and hitting an artificially low score via red fasts. I think this is the big difference, consistency. Red fast is far more consistent. Those who claim they can shoot as well playing for perfects as they do playing red fasts, I say prove it. I know what outcome I'm betting on. I played red fasts on every shot for a while a few months ago, with some good scoring. I found it incredibly tedious and boring! There was zero satisfaction for me personally. I stopped playing completely until 60fps came along on Xbox. Perfects on Xbox at 30fps were impossible, at least for me. The game is fun once again now, and challenging! Isn't this how it's supposed to be?
