Event 7 - 2015 BASS PRO SHOPS LEGENDS OF GOLF - at The Winterstone - Round 1
While the pros proceeded to take The Winterstone course apart, I think it's safe to say that the guests didn't enjoy the experience one iota. Last week the guests dominated the top of the leaderboard - this week you will find all of them at the bottom. Randy Grant (79) and Bob Fletcher (78) both fell foul of the deceptively dangerous 14th green, as did Mel Tyke (73) but to a much lesser extent. Hans Kunok battled his way around to also card a 73, while it was great to see Charlie Roberts back on the tour, even though he has ongoing health issues. Taking that into consideration his 71 wasn't too shabby. The best of the guests was Ian McKinley whose last hole eagle helped him to a round of 70. After his traumatic play-off defeat last week it looks like Les Souter has taken some time off to do some last-minute Christmas shopping - I wonder what he's got for Ian and myself...

Event 7 - 2015 BASS PRO SHOPS LEGENDS OF GOLF - at The Winterstone - Round 2
I think it's safe to say that the guests can write off this tourney as an abject failure. The wind gained in strength today and is forecast to become worse, so the guests, who are all already struggling, will be looking forward to the Christmas break. Mel Tyke and Hans Kunok again matched each other, this time with a brace of 75's, while Bob Fletcher did well to put together a 68. New player Jack Morales shot a 73 to add to his opening round 71, and the returning Charlie Roberts started to recapture some of his old form on his way to a 68. Ian McKinley's 68 today confirmed his status as the best-placed guest so far but, lagging 13 strokes behind pro leader John Huston, the scent of victory this week is proving extremely evasive...

Event 7 - 2015 BASS PRO SHOPS LEGENDS OF GOLF - at The Winterstone - Round 3
The wind blew even stronger today, making some of the pins very difficult to get close to. Bob Fletcher scrambled in with a level par 72, the same score as Mel Tyke, his best round of the event to date. Jack Morales recorded his second 71, and he is now level with Hans Kunok who played very well for his 67. Ian McKinley (75) and Charlie Roberts (74) are currently the best placed guests, in a tie for 51st spot, so the final round will merely be an exercise to maximise earnings...

Event 7 - 2015 BASS PRO SHOPS LEGENDS OF GOLF - at The Winterstone - FINAL ROUND
The very strong winds today didn't make a whole lot of difference for the guests as they were already right out of contention going into this final round. Les Souter (79), Ian McKinley (76), Mel Tyke (75), Bob Fletcher (73) and Hans Kunok (73) all predictably struggled, while Randy Grant salvaged some respectability by carding his second consecutive 71 of the tourney. Charlie Roberts' 70 earned him a tie for 46th spot, the best guest performance of a traumatic week, and now we take a one-week break from competitive tour play.

Event 8 - 2015 INSPERITY INVITATIONAL - at Mineral Ridge - Round 1
With only a light breeze to contend with, hopes were high for good scoring - but that's not how it panned out for most guests. The lightning-quick greens caused more than a few problems, especially for Hans Kunok (80) and Les Souter (77). Suffering to a lesser extent were Jack Morales (74), and Norm Ricker, Mel Tyke and Bob Fletcher who all carded less than satisfactory 73's. Ian McKinley made a reasonable start to the event by shooting a 69, but the surprise package was Randy Grant whose fine 67 left him a single stroke behind the opening day joint-leaders...

Event 8 - 2015 INSPERITY INVITATIONAL - at Mineral Ridge - Round 2
The wind was up and that, combined with some tricky pins, was to provide a difficult challenge. Survival would mean a good chance of lower scoring over the weekend when the weather is forecast to be more favourable. Unfortunately for Jared Kingsley the strong winds got the better of him, and he was last seen heading for the 19th hole after posting a traumatising 82. Even Ian McKinley found the conditions problematic and he could only manage a 74, while Bob Fletcher repeated his opening round score of 73. Hans Kunok (71) and Les Souter (70) greatly improved on their previous round scores, while newcomer Norm Ricker registered an impressive 68 to just about give himself a chance in the second half of the tourney. Randy Grant's very competent 69 leaves him in a small group just two strokes behind the leader, and he will be fancying his prospects in the weekend run-in...

Event 8 - 2015 INSPERITY INVITATIONAL - at Mineral Ridge - Round 3
With not even a hint of a breeze there was a golden opportunity to go low today, even with the fast greens. Even though Jared Kingsley posted his best score of the event, a level par 72, he remained rock bottom of the leaderboard, but I'm sure we haven't seen the best of him yet. Ian McKinley had a day to forget, carding a woeful 76 to drop like a stone, while Hans Kunok enjoyed his best round so far, a solid enough 69. Les Souter is finding it difficult to recapture the form that saw him almost win at Appletown before Christmas, and a 71 did not promote him very far up the leaderboard. Surprisingly, mainly thanks to his putter Bob Fletcher recorded the best guest round, a very good 66 that encouraged him no end. Finally, Randy Grant's winning chances all but disappeared after he struggled in with a confidence-knocking 74 that leaves him five shots off the pace...

Event 8 - 2015 INSPERITY INVITATIONAL - at Mineral Ridge - Final Round
With the close-cut greens providing very fast putting surfaces, a good display with the flat stick was vital for good scoring. Les Souter limped in with a poor 79 but still avoided last place - that dubious honour fell to Jared Kingsley who carded his second 74 of the event. Hans Kunok's 70 was good enough to see him leapfrog Ian McKinley who shot a level par 72, while Bob Fletcher's 71 earned him a tie for 23rd, a respectable finish. Randy Grant was the most impressive guest this week, and his final position of tied 15th was due to his 70 today. Unfortunately though he missed out on some Charles Schwab Cup points by a mere two strokes. Next week is the first Major event of the season so that should be exciting!

Event 9 - 2015 REGIONS TRADITIONS - at Hyperion Fields - Round 1
Today's light breeze is the strongest the wind will be this week according to the weather forecast, and that was welcome news to the players as they prepare to take on this long, tricky Hyperion Fields course. Jared Kingsley negotiated the front nine well enough, but being overly aggressive on #10 saw him card a double-bogey. Another one followed on #16 and the resulting 79 was not the start he wanted. Bob Fletcher and Norm Ricker came home with a couple of solid 72's, giving them something to build on, while Randy Grant found the greens a little troublesome on his way to a 71. That was also Ian McKinley's opening score and he was helped by a rare eagle on #11. Les Souter made a satisfactory start with a 70 and appears to be in good form...

Event 9 - 2015 REGIONS TRADITIONS - at Hyperion Fields - Round 2
Even with no wind at all Hyperion Fields is a challenge, mainly due to the length and the tricky greens. Jared Kingsley was more like his normal self today and posted a 72, but Ian McKinley struggled and could only register a 76, most unlike him. Norm Ricker recorded his second 72 of the tourney to remain mid-leaderboard, while Randy Grant and Bob Fletcher hit a brace of 70's to keep alive their slim chances. Les Souter played very well for his 66, the equal best round of the day, and he is well placed to make an assault on the co-leaders who are only a couple of strokes ahead of him. Things are coming to the boil quite nicely...

Event 9 - 2015 REGIONS TRADITIONS - at Hyperion Fields - Round 3
Only a gentle breeze to contend with today but the lightning fast greens took their toll on a few players. Jared Kingsley (76), Ian McKinley (74), and especially Bob Fletcher (79) all suffered and ended any interest they might have had in the remaining round. Norm Ricker edged up the leaderboard when he carded a 71, his best effort so far this week, while Randy Grant lost ground when he could only shoot a level par 72. At halfway Les Souter was in a threatening position, but he too could only put together a 72 which means he will enter the final round a full six strokes off the lead, thereby reducing his winning chances substantially. But it's not over until the fat lady sings, and it's still very quiet at the moment...

Event 9 - 2015 REGIONS TRADITIONS - at Hyperion Fields - FINAL ROUND
Rain meant the greens would be a lot slower today, and that would suit some players but not others. Jared Kingsley and Bob Fletcher completed a miserable week with rounds of 76 and 74 respectively, while Hans Kunok signed off with a 72 and was no doubt left regretting his opening round of 80. Ian McKinley finally found his A-game, firing an impressive 66 but still finishing in the bottom half of the field. Norm Ricker had played consistently all through the event but just hadn't scored low enough - until today, when he produced something near his best form to card a fine 68, claiming a share of 15th place in the process. Randy Grant also posted a 68, which was also his best round of the tourney, but his total score was one stroke away from gaining some precious Charles Schwab Cup points. While the majority of the pros had a hard time scoring today, Les Souter experienced no such problem. He produced a superb round of 65 strokes to sieze the first Major title of the season by a single shot!! Who's to say he won't win the second Major at French Lick next week?!
