Event 10 - 2015 SENIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP - at French Lick - Round 1
It was a tough day for everyone out there today, so much so that only two players managed to break par!! A couple of guests fought a losing battle - Jared Kingsley (76) and Randy Grant (75) are not completely out of the running, but their winning chances are just a little more distant. Norm Ricker, Les Souter, Hans Kunok and Bob Fletcher all posted solid enough 72's to finish the day only one stroke behind the opening round leaders. And they are Japanese pro Massy Kuramoto and our very own Ian McKinley, who just happens to love French Lick. So that's one hard round out of the way, just another three to go, and it's still wide open...

Event 10 - 2015 SENIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP - at French Lick - Round 2
Virtually no wind today but heavy overnight rain made the course seem even longer. On the plus side the greens were very receptive but those putts had to be firmly struck. A 72 meant Randy Grant made hardly any headway, and he was overtaken by Jared Kingsley who played well for his 70, assisted by a bogey free back nine. Now level with Jared is Bob Fletcher who didn't help himself by dropping four strokes on three consecutive front nine holes on his way to a disappointing 74. Tied for 10th spot are Ian McKinley (74) and Norm Ricker (73) and they are still in this contest. The outstanding round of the day came from Les Souter, whose 'clean' 66 took him to the top spot, two shots clear of Tom Lehman. Can he stay there to make it two in a row...?!

Event 10 - 2015 SENIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP - at French Lick - Round 3
Not much of a breeze today, but the greens have become a little bare and consequently they will be faster. Coming unstuck were Randy Grant (78) and Hans Kunok (80), a shame for the latter after opening rounds of 72 and 71. Bob Fletcher had a nightmare front, but he rallied on the back to finish with his second 74 of the week. Ian McKinley also posted his second 74 of the event, and he is now level with Jared Kingsley who shot a not too untidy 73. It was great to see Charlie Roberts returning to the tour after a prolonged absence due to ill health, and it was obvious that he'd lost none of his ability. Opening rounds of 67 (including a super ACE on #13) and 70 had him leading at halfway, but a disastrous 77 today pegged him right back. Les Souter took full advantage and, although far from a perfect round, his 71 places him two strokes clear at the top of the leaderboard going into the final day. The question is can he stay there?!

Event 10 - 2015 SENIOR PGA CHAMPIONSHIP - at French Lick - FINAL ROUND
No wind and rock-hard, ultra-quick greens were the plus and minus points for the climax to this event. Bob Fletcher (79), Jared Kingsley (79), Hans Kunok (78) and Randy Grant (76) were last seen in a huddle leafing through a telephone directory trying to find the 'Psychiatrist' section after their traumatising putting ordeals today. Ian McKinley ended the tourney as he had started it, with a solid 71 but, unfortunately, he was just one stroke away from earning some much needed Charles Schwab Cup points. Leading going into today's round, Les Souter also found the greens hard to handle and he was visibly disappointed when he walked off the 18th green with a 75 - a score that did not clinch another win for him. The halfway mark leader, Charlie Roberts, had been bitten badly by the course in Round 3, but he bounced back with a fighting 70 today. However, that too was not a winning score, but was good enough to claim a share of second place with Les. The eventual victor was Colin Montgomerie who had not posted the best score in any round - he had merely played consistent, solid golf to end the week four strokes clear.

Event 11 - 2015 PRINCIPAL CHARITY CLASSIC - at Hoback Range - Round 1
A strong breeze didn't make this beautiful, but deceptively dangerous, Hoback Range course any easier today. Les Souter's sterling efforts last week appeared to have taken a heavy toll as he looked a tad jaded on his way to an unsatisfactory 74. Bob Fletcher salvaged his round with three late birdies and he finished with a level par 72, while Ian McKinley didn't have things all his own way during his respectable 71. That was also Randy Grant's score, aided by a fortuitous eagle 2 on the 4th and another, more orthodox, eagle on the 18th. The most impressive guest performance came from Jared Kingsley who seems to be acclimatising very quickly to life on this tour. Jared's fine 68 placed him two shots behind the opening day leaders and it looks like another intriguing week is in store for us...

Event 11 - 2015 PRINCIPAL CHARITY CLASSIC - at Hoback Range - Round 2
Only a light breeze to take into account today, but yesterday's strong wind has dried out the greens and they will be very, very fast. Les Souter's woes continued and a 76 left him rock bottom of the leaderboard. Bob Fletcher's putter inexplicably began to sink putts over 10 feet but he could still only equal his opening round score of 72. That was the same score as Jared Kingsley, to whom I owe an apology. I marked his Round 1 score as 68, but it should have been a 70 - sorry Jared! Randy Grant remained in mid-leaderboard by carding a 71, improving on his first day effort, but the round of the day was produced by Ian McKinley, whose great 66 leaves him only 2 shots off the lead at halfway.

Event 11 - 2015 PRINCIPAL CHARITY CLASSIC - at Hoback Range - Round 3
There was still no more than a gentle breeze blowing, and the greens were a tad slower than yesterday, so the potential for low scoring was present. Every guest posted their best scores of the tourney so far, although Bob Fletcher's 70, including two water balls, didn't move him further up the leaderboard. Randy Grant gave himself every chance of gaining some Charles Schwab Cup points by shooting a very welcome 68, while Jared Kingsley's great 66 saw him overtake Randy in the race for a decent finish. The performance of the day came from Ian McKinley whose scintillating 65 shot him to the top of the leaderboard with a lead of two strokes going into the final round. Can Ian register his second win of the season?

Event 11 - 2015 PRINCIPAL CHARITY CLASSIC - at Hoback Range - FINAL ROUND
The high winds returned, bringing rain with them which, in turn, softened and slowed up the greens considerably. Having said that, the conditions worked in the players' favour as every guest posted a sub-70 round. Les Souter had had a torrid time in the first half of the event, but today he looked to have found something close to his A-game and a 68 was the result. A solitary bogey spoilt Bob Fletcher's card, and missing a few makeable putts had him wondering what might have been instead of a still praiseworthy 65, the best round of the final day. Randy Grant shot his second successive 68 to finish in a creditable tie for 12th spot but, again, he missed out on some Charles Schwab Cup points by one shot - just as he'd done in the Regios Traditions major two weeks ago. Jared Kingsley registered his best finish to date after shooting his second successive 66 of the tourney, enough to claim a share of 3rd place and enhancing his reputation. After a rather average opening round Ian McKinley found another couple of gears and had carved out a two-shot lead going into today. He stuck to his attacking brand of golf and it paid off again, his second 66 of the week increasing his lead over the rest of the field to five shots, a very convincing winning margin. So Ian wins his second tourney of the season, adding to the Allianz Championship he won in November and, on this form, only a brave, or foolish, man would bet against him winning in the third Major of the season next week!

CHARLES SCHWAB CUP standings after event 11
Les Souter still rules the roost while Jared Kingsley enters the table in a tie for 44th place. Still not quite halfway through the season so anything can happen...

Event 12 - 2015 CONSTELLATION SENIOR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP - at Reverand Green G.C. - Round 1
It was a wet, breezy start to the week today with some tricky pin positions, so scoring was surprisingly pretty good. Randy Grant had an up and down round and a 71 was slightly disappointing for him. Bob Fletcher and Ian McKinley fared a little better, posting a pair of 70's, the former enjoying a great eagle on the 5th, but on the following hole made a glaring course management error that cost him three strokes. Les Souter's campaign got off to a super start with eagles on the 2nd and 5th holes, but a series of missed putts and a characteristic run of pars on the back nine restricted Les to a 68, not at all bad but disappointing considering his scoring on the first few holes. The Reverand Green course is one of Jared Kingsley's favourites, and he utilised his accumulated knowledge to great effect in this opening round. Showing great restraint to control his naturally aggressive play, Jared reaped the rewards and headed the field by shooting a fantastic 63 to leave him with a two-shot lead.

Event 12 - 2015 CONSTELLATION SENIOR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP - at Reverand Green G.C. - Round 2
A dry, windless day with the course in perfect condition was an open invitation to score low today. Unfortunately for Les Souter, he appears to have had one of those rounds where if something could go wrong, it did go wrong, and his 80 ended any interest he had in this tournament. A triple-bogey and a few single bogeys didn't help Randy Grant's cause and his 74 left him not far from the foot of the leaderboard. Ian McKinley bogeyed the 1st and recovered reasonably well to card a 68, but he knew his score should have been lower. Ian is in a share of 10th at halfway, but is a long way back and unlikely to add to his trophy haul this week. In 5th spot is Hans Kunok after impressive rounds of 69 and today's 65 but even he needs something extraordinary to happen if he is to win. Bob Fletcher has been toying with his swing timing and he seems to have stumbled across a method that works really well, as his incredible 61 demonstrated. If not for a solitary bogey and a few missed putts Bob could have easily been posting a sub-60 score. I think many expected First round pacesetter Jared Kingsley to come back into the pack today, but he kept the pedal to the metal by shooting another superb 63 to increase his lead to four strokes. Can his game hold up under the pressure of increasing expectation over the next two rounds?!

Event 12 - 2015 CONSTELLATION SENIOR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP - at Reverand Green G.C. - Round 3
The opening round breeze was back and the greens had quickened, making putting a little more problematic. Strangely, all but one of the guests posted a round of 71 today. Les Souter, Randy Gran and Ian McKinley were all left treading water, while Hans Kunok's 71, his worst round so far, saw him enter into a tie for 5th place. Bob Fletcher's 71, not too bad considering he registered a triple-bogey on the 10th, was still good enough to keep him in 3rd spot, albeit a mile behind the leader. And that leader is still Jared Kingsley who really turned the screw by carding a fantastic 61, giving him a ten shot lead going into the final round!! The only thing that can deny Jared the win now is a collapse of Norman-esque magnitude but, somehow, I don't see that happening...

Event 12 - 2015 CONSTELLATION SENIOR PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP - at Reverand Green G.C. - FINAL Round
Only a breath of wind today, but the greens were completely dry and super-fast. Randy Grant started well enough, birdying the first 2 holes, but things soon turned sour and his eventual 74 enabled Les Souter to leapfrog and demote him into last place with a round of 70. Ian McKinley ended the week as he had started it, with a nondescript 70 to conclude the event in mid-leaderboard. Hans Kunok had played consistently well, if unspectacularly, all week and a closing 68 earned him a five-way share of 4th place along with Bob Fletcher whose 72 was his worst round of the tourney. However, they at least were able to pocket valuable Charles Schwab Cup points for their efforts. Overnight leader Jared Kingsley held a 10-shot lead going into today and, as expected, there was no last round collapse to give hope to his closest rivals. In fact he increased his advantage over Bernhard Langer, his nearest challenger, to 11 strokes by carding a very convincing 67, and Jared's crushing victory will give him every confidence for next week's fourth Major of the season, the Senior U.S. Open...

Event 13 - 2015 SENIOR U.S. OPEN - at Black Salt Valley - Round 1
It soon became clear that the Black Salt Valley course's main defence were it's rolling, undulating greens, and even good putters may struggle this week. Ian McKinley certainly had a difficult time, as his 74 testified, while Bob Fletcher, Les Souter and last week's winner, Jared Kingsley, all posted satisfactory opening scores of 70. Les described the course as "a monster" and nobody was heard to disagree with him! Randy Grant was almost ecstatic after starting the week with a fine 68, only 2 strokes behind the first round leader, legendary Tom Watson.

Event 13 - 2015 SENIOR U.S. OPEN - at Black Salt Valley - Round 2
Heavy overnight rain resulted in the greens being fairly receptive and quite slow today, but also there is no wind at all. Ian McKinley's 73 was only a slight improvement on his first round, so he remained anchored at the foot of the leaderboard. Randy Grant slipped downwards after his 71, putts not reaching the cup being his main failing. Meanwhile Jared Kingsley and Bob Fletcher stayed in contention when they produced a pair of 68's. Jared was left to rue several missed opportunities, but still only carded one solitary bogey. Bob, on the other hand, had a frustrating day with the putter, holing some good putts but also struggling with others, hence a 4-putt and a 3-putt on his card.
