Season 12, week 9
Pretty close week all around, and we begin the final week recap by acknowledging the victory of Designated Drivers over golden tee contenders Dude, Where's My Par? by a score of 15.5-8.5. Good finish up at the top pools for the Drivers as Stivers and Dietrich finish with a 4 point week.
Wine and Dine almost gets to say thanks for the assist but fall just short of their leap to second, even though they do take care of their business over 1000/1 Outsiders by a score of 14.5-9.5. A good try to come back from a small distance, in no short part thanks to Schneider putting up a 4 pointer.
Then we get to the close ones of the week. Snowboarding Carpenters knock off The Swarm 13.5-10.5, in a match where the shots are 300-299 for The Swarm. Nobody really knows where the difference truly is, but a very close go everywhere: the total under par score, points scored, etc.
One more close one as the Putt Pirates take a 4 shot loss and turn it into a 3 point win, as The Wuhan Warriors go down 13.5-10.5. For how the season started and was rolling on for them, the Pirates really turned the heat on for the last few weeks. Titots scores 4 in their last week.
And in the battle of the basement with the biggest stakes this week (pfft, nah) between #9 and #10, Beer Wings and Swings wins the duel over The Wild Aces 13-11, but end up at the basement anyway by a point. About as close as you could ask for, as the final round sees 5 half pointers out of 6 total!
Top score(s): Stivers -67 4 point club: Schneider, Stivers, Dietrich, Titots
Final team standings of season 12. The Swarm clinches the championship after a slow start into the season, and from week 3 and on where they took 4 out of 5 commanding wins they never looked back. Second placed Dude, Where's My Par? end up finding themselves just a little short despite putting a good fight all season. And in third, Wine and Dine were just balanced around the tee fight all season long, maybe surprisingly ending up as the most winningest team this season with 6 wins, 2 losses and a tie in 9 weeks. In the Sky Blue division, Martin just edges out Bordeaux by a half point which was necessary because in the case of a tie, it goes the other way on tie breaker.
1. The Swarm 131 points / -2678 2. Dude, Where's My Par? 122 / -2599 3. Wine and Dine 120.5 / -2550 4. The Wuhan Warriors 114.5 / -2606 5. Snowboarding Carpenters 104.5 / -2450 6. Designated Drivers 104 / -2531 7. 1000/1 Outsiders 103.5 / -2518 8. Putt Pirates 101 / -2415 9. The Wild Aces 90 / -2370 10. Beer Wings and Swings 89 / -2385
Winner of the Sky Blue Tee as MVP: Martin 26 points / -459
The team portion of the season is now over, but the season itself is still not: the individual SOTS Cup is now ongoing. 2 weeks, with a qualifier in week 1 and the matchplay event itself in week 2. 16 qualifiers battle it out for the red stripe tee in a seeded bracket to see who picks up the spoil there. Qualifier is open to any HTF competitor past or present, and the 2 weeks are at these courses that are on CC next:
Week 1, the qualifier: Central Otago by Jason Fowler
Week 2, the SOTS Cup matchplay event: Potunk by Thomas Petrocelli
Thanks for the season, see you next time for the intro to season 13!

Season 13, week 0
Well here we go again! Unlucky 13th season of Happy Tee Friends is set to begin in a matter of hours. It's lucky that some things get even that far before getting cancelled or running out of steam. I'm once again your guide and sideline reporter Tomi, to bring you the updates from the fascinating world that is this group.
As per usual, 60 players of pro tour status (Platinum, Elite, Kinetic) or exceptions of CC-A have been drafted up into 10 teams of 6 people, one each from top of the scoring class of pool 1 to those that aren't shooting quite as well in pool 6. This could end up being a very intriguing season, for it is one that comes up near the end of the TGC Tours season and thus fatigue may be setting in or has set in for some, or some are catching their strides now. Who will prevail? The next weeks will show the way.
With less than 3 hours to go until proper kickoff to the HTF season, let's remind that all of the following weeks are played from the CC side of the tours. And for week 1 of this HTF season, it's a major kind of feeling somewhere around the world and so it might be for CC as well. The course being gunned down first is Royal Cinque Geralds GC, a collaboration effort from some of the finest designers of the community. As per my new style, I won't go into too much detail for the courses being played since at most I can give a very plain statement or two from any of them. Should be a fun one though! And we kick the new season off with these matches on week 1 (listed in order of the spreadsheet):
1 A: Bogey Boys vs Hong Kong Hookers 1 B: Weapons of Grass Destruction vs Back 9 Bandits 1 C: From Fore to Fir vs We Love Lamp 1 D: Par None vs Designated Drivers 1 E: Beer Swings and Wings vs Up & Down Brigade
Good luck out there, have fun once again this season!

Season 13, week 1
New season has been kicked off... and a recap while it's still Saturday? Whaaaa?
Even more bizarre is that the strangely named We Love Lamp is leading the way through week 1 by taking care of From Fore to Fir 19.5-4.5. Really good team effort there, and 4 pointers to a rocket start to the individual races for Murray and... *checks notes* Pihlman? Huh?
Back 9 Bandits steal a victory this week, taking the weapons away from Weapons of Grass Destruction 16-8. The Bandits start off with the highest total under par score of -292 this week, good stuff there. 4 pointer for super sub Williams of the Bandits too, good start there as well.
First conundrum of the season as to who gets next billing, but the Hong Kong Hookers had the better rate (and shot difference) so they go next over Bogey Boys 14-10. Very even spread all around, no one really led the way in points there.
Fear not however, Par None gets the next recap as they take out established name Designated Drivers 14-10. A bit more turbulent here, as Van Eyk leads the way with his 4 point performance.
Closest match of the week was in match E where Beer Swings and Wings narrowly simmer down Up & Down Brigade 12.5-11.5. 4 point substitute performance for one Mr. Furgeson, which might have been the difference in an otherwise close call.
Top score(s): Williams -60 4 point club: Williams, Murray, Pihlman, Van Eyk, Furgeson
Leaderboard after the opening week, quite straightforward for now:
1. We Love Lamp 19.5 points / -274 under par 2. Back 9 Bandits 16 / -292 3. Hong Kong Hookers 14 / -262 4. Par None 14 / -256 5. Beer Swings and Wings 12.5 / -281 6. Up & Down Brigade 11.5 / -269 7. Bogey Boys 10 / -248 8. Designated Drivers 10 / -245 9. Weapons of Grass Destruction 8 / -246 10. From Fore to Fir 4.5 / -229
Sky Blue Tee (MVP) update: Murray leads with 4 points / -58 (full timers only), Williams technically leads overall with -60.
Week 2 is starting in about 3 and a half hours from posting this. Course selection is Hartley Park Country Club by established designer Brian Petty. I'm sure most have ran into something he's designed before. Matchweek 2 sees these matches (number in front of team name indicates position heading into the week according to leaderboard):
2 A: 8. Designated Drivers vs 7. Bogey Boys 2 B: 4. Par None vs 3. Hong Kong Hookers 2 C: 10. From Fore to Fir vs. 9. Weapons of Grass Destruction 2 D: 5. Beer Swings and Wings vs 2. Back 9 Bandits 2 E: 6. Up & Down Brigade vs. 1. We Love Lamp
Cheers, good luck!

Season 13, week 2
From Fore to Fir complete the turnaround of being beaten down the hardest last week to big winner of the week by beating Weapons of Grass Destruction 17.5-6.5. Quite the solid team effort there all around with just a single 4 pointer recorded by Robertson.
Beer Swings and Wings swing on up, taking the Back 9 Bandits down by putting up a score line of 15.5-8.5. They thus go 2-0 for the season with smaller victories, and this week Higgins leads their way with a 4 point performance.
Bogey Boys turn their rather poor showing on the golfing score cards (this is only alleged based on the team name) into a good performance on the spreadsheet as they drive past Designated Drivers 15-9. No 4s but plenty of at least 3s.
Up & Down Brigade are up this week, knocking down We Love Lamp 14-10. This was actually the closest match this week with a 7 shot gap. As per usual with close matches, no 4 pointers to report here.
And finally, Hong Kong Hookers are the second unbeaten team after 2 weeks, being superior Par None 13-11. Okay, it was a little closer than that but how often can I get this pun in? No 4 point showings either.
Top score(s): Higgins -67 4 point club: Robertson & Higgins
Leaderboard through week 2 (position difference compared to last week in brackets after current week position, NC indicates no changes):
1. (NC) We Love Lamp 29.5 points / -558 under par 2. (+3) Beer Swings and Wings 28 / -557 3. (NC) Hong Kong Hookers 27 / -540 4. (+2) Up & Down Brigade 25.5 / -560 5. (-1) Par None 25 / -521 6. (+1) Bogey Boys 25 / -518 7. (-5) Back 9 Bandits 24.5 / -548 8. (+2) From Fore to Fir 22 / -517 9. (-1) Designated Drivers 19 / -493 10. (-1) Weapons of Grass Destruction 14.5 / -518
Sky Blue Tee (MVP) update: Van Eyk leads outright with 7 points / -100.
Week 3 is at The Chop Match Club by Tyson Staab. Don't get chopped up into matchboxes with these match week 3 showcases:
3 A: 5. Par None vs 2. Beer Swings and Wings 3 B: 6. Bogey Boys vs 7. Back 9 Bandits 3 C: 3. Hong Kong Hookers vs 1. We Love Lamp 3 D: 10. Weapons of Grass Destruction vs 9. Designated Drivers 3 E: 4. Up & Down Brigade vs 8. From Fore to Fir
Cheers, and good luck!

Season 13, week 3
This week the recapping kicks off with the biggest blowout of the season yet, as Up & Down Brigade are on the up over From Fore to Fir by a score of 20.5-3.5. For how these would usually go, surprising that there's only one 4 point guy on here, that being Schneider. However, everyone on the winning side scored at least 3 points.
Next up, Weapons of Grass Destruction are finally showing those weapons off, blasting Designated Drivers during the test run while scoring 17.5 to their 6.5. Two good 4 point showings here, as Kirk and Hanevik add themselves to the club this week.
Par None the most middle level showing recapped next, as the... well, Par None team takes care of Beer Swings and Wings to the tune of 16.5-7.5 score. One more name goes into the 4 point club this week from this one, as Budel connects with 4.
Back 9 Bandits use that magic of the turn to their advantage, posting up a better score than Bogey Boys in a very golf themed name matchup at 13.5-10.5. Bandits have a round 4 to thank for a turnaround, as that got them the W. No 4 pointer scores here.
And finally the close one of the week, as We Love Lamp edge out Hong Kong Hookers 12.5-11.5. The only team to win this week despite putting up a worse total shot score (-303 to -313) and you guessed it, another round 4 comeback here. And as you guessed, no 4 pointers.
Top score(s): Stivers -71 4 point club: Budel, Kirk, Hanevik, Schneider
Leaderboard after week 3 as we have crossed one third of the way through the season:
1. (+3) Up & Down Brigade 46 points / -886 2. (-1) We Love Lamp 42 / -861 3. (+2) Par None 41.5 / -850 4. (-1) Hong Kong Hookers 38.5 / -853 5. (+2) Back 9 Bandits 38 / -861 6. (-4) Beer Swings and Wings 35.5 / -847 7. (-1) Bogey Boys 35.5 / -820 8. (+2) Weapons of Grass Destruction 32 / -843 9. (-1) From Fore to Fir 25.5 / -793 10. (-1) Designated Drivers 25.5 / -767
Sky Blue Tee (MVP) update: Schneider leads at 10.5 points / -171.
Week 4 is up next, and while it's crunch time in the world of TGC Tours, the CC tournament organizers have taken this chance to take you to a relaxing Real Club Torrox Costa by Christian Elsesser. Enjoy a piña colada or 6 under the tropical sun (hopefully) as you look at these opposition teams during match week 4:
4 A: 4. Hong Kong Hookers vs 9. From Fore to Fir 4 B: 10. Designated Drivers vs 1. Up & Down Brigade 4 C: 2. We Love Lamp vs 6. Beer Swings and Wings 4 D: 5. Back 9 Bandits vs 3. Par None 4 E: 8. Weapons of Grass Destruction vs 7. Bogey Boys
Cheers, and good luck!

Season 13, week 4
Lots of similarity in final scores this week. Big win of the week was We Love Lamp over Beer Swings and Wings by a score of 16.5-7.5. Was looking bad for those lovers of lamp but a last minute call up to get them Griffiths gave them 4 wishes and plenty of points. Super sub Griffiths wished for 4 points to himself, and that he got. Special note: winners of this one shot -320 for only team in the 300s this week.
Tiebreaker decision with the score being the same but let's go shot differential this week: that said, Designated Drivers take down Up & Down Brigade 15-9 and a 15 shot gap. Cassino's 4 pointer that also came last minute was a heavy blow that swung the match around late.
Another 15-9 finish to be recapped, as Hong Kong Hookers blast down From Fore to Fir, with a 14 shot gap between the two. No 4 point clubbers here, the clubs might need to be switched up to another weapon. Maybe...
Maybe for some Weapons of Grass Destruction? They smack Bogey Boys 14.5-9.5 with a solid week and gap to them, shooting the 2nd best total at -288 and posting a 17 shot difference. No 4 points to be seen, though.
And Par None the closest match, as this pun is too old wins over Back 9 Bandits 13-11. 4 shot difference, 1 point difference, no one at 4 points. Close and thrilling action here.
Top score(s): Decicco & Saly -66 4 point club: Cassino & Griffiths
Leaderboard after week 4:
1. (+1) We Love Lamp 58.5 / -1181 2. (-1) Up & Down Brigade 55 / -1140 3. (NC) Par None 54.5 / -1124 4. (NC) Hong Kong Hookers 53.5 / -1133 5. (NC) Back 9 Bandits 49 / -1131 6. (+2) Weapons of Grass Destruction 46.5 / -1131 7. (NC) Bogey Boys 45 / -1091 8. (-2) Beer Swings and Wings 43 / -1126 9. (+1) Designated Drivers 40.5 / -1036 10. (-1) From Fore to Fir 34.5 / -1059
Sky Blue Tee (MVP) update: 2 way tie up top, Schneider still leads at 12.5 / -225.
Week 5 tosses an interesting spanner. This week, it's a real course (I can already hear "but why can't those stay in TST?!") as we're heading to National Golf Links Of America (L), brought to life in game by Elliott Erwitt. Let's see what sort of spanners get thrown in the mix with these matchweek 5 offerings:
5 A: 5. Back 9 Bandits vs 10. From Fore to Fir 5 B: 4. Hong Kong Hookers vs 6. Weapons of Grass Destruction 5 C: 7. Bogey Boys vs 2. Up & Down Brigade 5 D: 9. Designated Drivers vs 8. Beer Swings and Wings 5 E: 1. We Love Lamp vs. 3. Par None
Cheers, good luck! If you're still in the playoffs this week, then good luck there too!

Season 13, week 5
This week is very close! Starting off as usual with the big winner of the week: Weapons of Grass Destruction blow up Hong Kong Hookers 16.5-7.5. Moore scores 4 points. Then it gets real tight...
3 WAY TIE to see who gets next dibs of the recap! Shot difference shall be the determining factor, so at 26 shots up, Up & Down Brigade it shall be over Bogey Boys 14.5-9.5. No 4 pointers here in this match, spoilers: the club gets really lonely this week...
Next 14.5-9.5 winner is Beer Swings and Wings over Designated Drivers. They were up by 17 shots but even with 2 3.5 point performances, no 4s.
And with a 15 shot difference the Par None team is victorious over We Love Lamp, by again 14.5-9.5 score. And no 4s.
From Fore to Fir wins the closest match of this bonkers week of closeness, narrowly escape Back 9 Bandits 12.5-11.5. This could easily have been a coin flip either way. No 4s.
Top score(s): Saly -62 4 point club: Moore (VIP room!)
Leaderboard after week 5 and thus past halfway point:
1. (+1) Up & Down Brigade 69.5 points / -1412 2. (+1) Par None 69 / -1393 3. (-2) We Love Lamp 68 / -1435 4. (+2) Weapons of Grass Destruction 63 / -1412 5. (-1) Hong Kong Hookers 61 / -1386 6. (-1) Back 9 Bandits 60.5 / -1387 7. (+1) Beer Swings and Wings 57.5 / -1382 8. (-1) Bogey Boys 54.5 / -1337 9. (NC) Designated Drivers 50 / -1275 10. (NC) From Fore to Fir 47 / -1318
Sky Blue Tee (MVP) update: Budel moves to 1st with 15.5 / -238.
Week 6 is the tour championship week of TGC Tours calendar, and the party in CC is at Kuromatsu Country Club by Quinlan Roche, or just Q to some. Golden Age geometric template design meets Japanese aesthetics this week, and these teams are meeting up in week 6, all of them conveniently next to each other on the leaderboard so maybe this week sees gaps forming:
6 A: 7. Beer Swings and Wings vs 8. Bogey Boys 6 B: 2. Par None vs 1. Up & Down Brigade 6 C: 10. From Fore to Fir vs 9. Designated Drivers 6 D: 4. Weapons of Grass Destruction vs 3. We Love Lamp 6 E: 5. Hong Kong Hookers vs 6. Back 9 Bandits
Cheers, good luck! Tour championship eligibles, best of luck for one last push! Next week will be a bit different here in HTF land but we get there when we get there...

Season 13, week 6
This week was the finale of the TGC Tours season, and one team really threw the party down in some potentially historical way: We Love Lamp annihilates Weapons of Grass Destruction by a monstrous 22.5-1.5 score. All losses of points in round 3 but 3 out of 4 rounds swept. 4 points to Murray, Griffiths, Rienzo and Pihlman... I don't know who that last guy is but I hear he's nothing.
Next biggest win goes to the Bogey Boys who take the W over Beer Swings and Wings at 17.5-6.5. Solid team effort in terms of points gathering but biggest gainer of points for them was Knight with the full 4.
We then take another tiebreaker of shot differential within the match and since they won and had a margin of 27 shots while doing so, Par None gets next mention as they roll over Up & Down Brigade 14.5-9.5, with no 4 point club members to report about here in this 1 vs. 2 matchup going into the week.
They had 9 shots up on their opposition, but it's good enough for Designated Drivers who knock off From Fore to Fir 14.5-9.5. Mitchell, the captain of the team, leads the way with 4 points scored.
And one more as this is surprisingly the closest match, not by result but by the gap: Hong Kong Hookers beat Back 9 Bandits 14-10. Some 3 pointers in this one but nobody gets to 4.
Top score(s): Gilmore & Horan -62 4 point club: Knight, Mitchell, Murray, Griffiths, Rienzo, Pihlman
Leaderboard after 6 weeks, marking two thirds down and thus 3 weeks to go:
1. (+2) We Love Lamp 88.5 / -1752 2. (-1) Par None 85.5 / -1709 3. (-1) Up & Down Brigade 79 / -1701 4. (+1) Hong Kong Hookers 75 / -1657 5. (+3) Bogey Boys 72 / -1628 6. (NC) Back 9 Bandits 70.5 / -1652 7. (-3) Weapons of Grass Destruction 64.5 / -1674 8. (+1) Designated Drivers 64.5 / -1564 9. (-1) Beer Swings and Wings 64 / -1646 10. (NC) From Fore to Fir 56.5 / -1598
Sky Blue Tee (MVP) update: Budel increases the lead to 2.5 points with a log jam right behind him, now at 19 / -293.
Week 7, and here's where things get interesting: with no CC to speak of until the start of season 10, the play now goes to the TGCTours (Special Events) society. The first one up is Kasota Hill by Gareth Irvine, a well known designer in the community. Should be easy times with the few scores already posted, let's see which of these teams have it easy or tough this week in match week 7 as they're paired up like this:
7 A: 1. We Love Lamp vs 6. Back 9 Bandits 7 B: 5. Bogey Boys vs 2. Par None 7 C: 3. Up & Down Brigade vs 7. Weapons of Grass Destruction 7 D: 9. Beer Swings and Wings vs. 10. From Fore to Fir 7 E: 8. Designated Drivers vs 5. Hong Kong Hookers
Offseason time while we wait for season 10, tough to maybe get motivated for it but try your best! Cheers, good luck!

Season 13, week 7
Coming down to the wire of the season and We Love Lamp is establishing a form of a lifetime. Another crushfest as their combined -370 for 61 and 2/3 under par per team member downs and outs the Back 9 Bandits by a score of 21-3. 4 pointers to Murray, Griffiths and some sandbagging SOB who isn't playing like a bottom pool player.
Designated Drivers had to rely on 2 subs this week but those 2 subs are good for them as they take down Hong Kong Hookers 15-9. They both put up 3 points for good stuff, meanwhile Gilmore hits a tied top score of -76 for some pro swing-like scoring reminiscence from 2K21 and this nets him 4 points.
Two same scores again this week, and with a bigger score differential we go first to Par None beating Bogey Boys 14.5-9.5. They are putting up good numbers consistently this season, not faltering much at all. Another fairly comfy win, with Warncke scoring 4 for them.
Meanwhile in a bounce back from a heavy defeat last week, Weapons of Grass Destruction may have dropped the nuke on the golden aspirations of Up & Down Brigade this week by knocking them into tomorrow with a score of 14.5-9.5 as well. Williams comes up super sub for them, -73 is good for full 4. Commiserations to Saly of the Brigade, how is -76 only good for half a point?!
And a refreshing, close battle in a week of good scoring. Beer Swings and Wings edge out From Fore to Fir 12.5-11.5. Only match this week where there are no one scoring 4 points.

Week 8 is up, and this time around we go back to where this season of TGC began: yeah, time for The KEG Farm by many, credited on the TGC site to Jason Fowler. Where have a lot of us come to from the time of uncertainty where consumable balls were still a thing, many of us were still finding our bearings, and scoring was... surprisingly close to what it is now? We don't know the answers yet, but we do know the matches for week 8:
8 A: 4. Hong Kong Hookers vs 8. Beer Swings and Wings 8 B: 9. Back 9 Bandits vs 3. Up & Down Brigade 8 C: 1. We Love Lamp vs 6. Designated Drivers 8 D: 10. From Fore to Fir vs 5. Bogey Boys 8 E: 2. Par None vs 7. Weapons of Grass Destruction
Enjoy the return to where it once began... again! Remember: WE ARE STILL IN THE TGCTours (Special Events) SOCIETY! Cheers, good luck!
