Just now getting home to play some practice rounds and I am seeing the same thing everyone else is with regards to the slower putting animation. I had been under the assumption that it was a server side "tweak" on HB's end. But I was playing offline with the ethernet cable unplugged, so.... How could this still be a thing without an update? Don't want to get all tin foil hat, but was it perhaps timed to kick in at a certain time and date with the latest update?
Anyways, there's probably a logical explanation for why I saw the same results while offline and without a game update. I'll get to practicing the new putting mechanics.

I thought I was crazy when doing exactly that at my first 4-5 putts 😂😂😂
Fortunately it was a warm up practice round.
Drastic change, but I like it much more like this. It is much intuitive and I didn’t have a single 3-putter during three rounds.

The putting speeds are basically what we had in TGC2019, IMO, after this change.

I don’t know if this change was implemented like 1 hour ago or what, but this needs to be talked about. Is this an Xbox only issue? It’s so frustrating, annoying, and frankly not surprising that they would intentionally or unintentionally change the SWING MECHANICS in a golf simulation video game during the opening week of competitive play.
To be clear, putting is incredibly slower than it has been. My stats for putting were 90/80/13 (for short/medium/long) when I’m normally 100/100/30.
Can we please go back to the way it was? Not fair to have us practice for over a month on a swing then rip the rug out from under us at tip-off.

What surprises me the most is that I didn’t install an update or patch or whatever yesterday, so no idea how the implemented it.
I will have to spend an hour or so today at the putting practice in order to recalculate distances, but I agree that it feels much more as TGC2019.

If it was server side tweak on HB's side, there wouldn't have been anything patched on our end. This is the same thing they did with 2019 - especially for XBOX - tempo was fine - they tweaked - and us XB'ers were thrown into tempo hell !! Fortunately I played my rounds on Sunday - but played a few rounds tonight and noticed putting was indeed off - in fact - I noticed as well the swing animation on the driver has a slow initial start before it goes into the regular fast animation - screws up timing for sure.. it's like a split second - but just enough to screw with the brain memory I've had over the last month or so getting used to the swing.. No I've seen it before. I may have already deleted it but had a video of a practice round at the Evangelist on that short par 4. Rolled slowly down to come to rest on the retaining walls. Got the sparks from shooting off that. |

God all I want is for them to fix the putting hitch when putting with a slow tempo!!! Why on earth they feel the need to screw around with everything else is beyond me.
PS. putting hitch still exists on PC.

Haven’t really noticed a difference in the animation as I already pulled the putter back quite slowly. I did have my first 4-putt in a long time though so let’s blame the phantom update.
