This was my first week here and I happened to shoot the best round of my entire career - 58! I think there was quite a bit of luck involved, especially with the putter. I'm also playing in the promo event, but didn't shoot nearly as well there. I'm hoping to at least get promoted up a flight or two, so maybe this 58 won't matter much after all. ha. Good luck out there! You shot -58 for a 4 round event? How the heck could you do that?

I have not played R3 or R4 yet.

I’ve been working on this game since release, and I’m still struggling to shoot par or better. Gatorman, Looking at some of your past posts, you play on PC with an Xbox controller. I’m in the same boat as you, and Xbox controller is known to be harder than mouse or PlayStation. Like you, I tried for perfect tempo for a while, and was extremely hesitant to do the fast method. Then I calibrated my swing a few times and switched to the fast method, and there was a sudden improvement of 3-5 shots a round. Still, I can’t compete with the leaders...I have one top 20 and may come close this week, but those winning scores...wow. Another thing that has helped recently with swing plane after losing it, is I actually look down at the controller while swinging for all but pitches and putts. That brought my game back. Finally, one other thing I started doing is using a calculator when in heavy rough to get a better estimate on distance, on both shots near the green and for full shots. Since I play for fast now, definitely have to go for high end of the percent estimate. Anyways, just a few things I’ve tried that have worked for me. Different stuff may work for you.

I'm def no expert, but happy to share some tips that work for me as well.

This CC-I is getting tough. I see the current cut line is -5. I'm at -7 after 2 rounds, hopefully that holds up. I didn't think it would be this hard to get a promotion mark in CC-I. Other than making the cuts, I don't know if I will ever be able to shoot well enough for the top 15% at the rate the scores in this flight are improving. agree - i had a bad first round, and finished the second round at -3. i thought i had a shot. i was WRONG! i was pretty bummed because i was -6 ish on practice rounds, but then just didn't hit any putts. it happens. looking forward to next week. (i was +1 on Promotion tourney, so i think i'll be a permanent member of the igloo! dress warm!)

I miss a lot of greens, but when I hit them not usually in birdie range. Biggest issue is the pitch shot. I’m stubborn and keep trying to dial it in, but mostly way short or long. I can do better with splash, but I try to keep that to traps. Putting is probably average. I sink some longer putts, but miss my share of shorter putts when the slopes are more intense.

I sink some longer putts, but miss my share of shorter putts when the slopes are more intense. Apologies for late reply. If hitting only 50% - 60% fairways, I'm assuming it's mostly due to a fast / slow swing...or bad swing plane? The most challenging things for me moving to TGC/Master settings were: 1) obviously the stricter swing plane / tempo settings 2) no distance control (meaning, you actually have to swing at 85% can't just set the marker) and 3) no meter when putting. 1) - This just took practice. I tried several different ways to hold the controller, "swing" the directional stick, etc. Until I found one that started to feel good. I messed with taking practice shots before each shot, taking a backswing but not hitting it before each shot, etc. I think improvement here just comes from more and more play time and trying to find something that you can do somewhat consistently (nobody ever hits perfects all the time). 2) This really only became an issue on shorter approach shots, specifically those where I have less than a full swing into the green. Drives don't matter because I just swing at 101 / 102%. A couple of things I do here is to a) look at the shot before the approach and see if it makes sense to club down to leave myself a full shot in, rather than a partial shot b) maybe opt for a different swing type (pitch versus normal, etc.) if it gets me closer to swinging at 100% and c) using loft and shaping to help with adjustments to distance. 3) I tend to have to rely on the vibration to let me know I need to stop my putting backswing. Since the vibration tends to happen at the max, its hard to be super accurate, so I play for most of my putts to be a little long. Meaning, if its a straight 10ft putt, no slope, the game will aim me at 11 or 12ft. I will back that off to 8-9 ft (depending on speed of the green)...knowing that I always hit it a little hard. Also, the pitch shot is tricky for me too. I noticed I need alot faster of a downswing to get it near the perfect meter. One other thing to note is if you are planning to stick with the same set of irons / wedges... you could change the settings to show you total distance...so you can note down how much roll out you are getting from each club for each shot type. For instance, you will know that a 'normal' 7iron will give you 168yds + 6yds. Or a 9iron "pitch" will give you 103yds + 3yds. I made these numbers up obviously. Are you normally way short or way long because your swing is very fast or very slow? That again would go back to practicing your swing and trying to nail that down. Alot of people find they can easily reproduce a fast swing, and just play for it (aim way right if a right-handed player - and let the fast swing bring it back left into the target). All in all - don't get discouraged. This game is tough. I started out with a goal of shooting under par on Pro settings. I think most agree it's a challenging game and the best way to improve is to just keep playing. Hope something here may help you a little going forward. Have fun!

I sink some longer putts, but miss my share of shorter putts when the slopes are more intense. Your game sounds a lot like mine. My real issue is when I’m 25 yrds away and the green is on an 8 ft hill and the caddy recommends that damn 50yrd pitch shot. I always hit it well past 25yrds and then it is ANOTHER 50yd pitch shot or i try to hit it earlier and then the ball hits at the top of hill and rolls back between my legs and then have to do it all over again. My drives are decent now and approach shots are usually hitting the greens but I roll way past the hole and my average proximity to the hole is 30ft. I’m starting to use the loft more to cut down the distance but the wind can affect it with the higher loft. I also tend to have a natural draw that always seems to go a little more left than I wanted. My putting has improved but I will go through stages where I burn the edges and it goes on for 4-5 holes. And then some days I’m dialed in. I also play in the Platinum Society to use the Ghost’s of the better players and watch their tendencies. I was beating Sloaner in one Round for 2 holes and then got left in the dust. His approach shots and putting is just dead accurate. I also started to watch some of his Tournaments on Twitch to maybe learn a few things.

Best round ever at 23 under , think I was 4 or 5 over on round 3 at Tfer 9 holes got it back to 2 under . Then straight into a ten under on round 4. Delighted but doubt I can do anything close to this consistently let’s see how it holds

CC-H gave me the boot so I'm here to hang out with you folks. I've played the first round so far. I had 4 holes that I wish I could have back. Other than that, I played decent.

So last week I thought I may be on my way to getting a promotion mark finally, but then I developed the putting yips in round 4 and shot my worst round of the tourney in the easiest conditions. I am currently stuck in the rut of making the cut but finishing in lower 20%. I need to find someway of being more consistent. Good luck this week to everyone.

Looking for 3 CC-I players to add to an event: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/26598/world-cc-player-best-ballInspiration came from the Fore Play podcast at Barstool Sports, where 4 joe average golfers compete in Ambrose format against a single PGA tour pro to see if they can best them. The spin to make it work here is: - the World #1 in TGCT will play their round 1 on the Platinum tour as they normally would, they may not even know this side event is even going on and they shoot their score - the 4 CC-I tour players will play the first round on the Platinum tour, post their screenshots here, and the best score on each hole across the four players will count So can 4 combined CC-I players best the world #1? I have no idea but am keen to find out.

Hello! Unless something strange happens, I'll be over here now since I'm looking at a promotion! Still can't quite wrap my head around it, but that's how it's going down.
Looking forward to seeing how this next step will go!

Halfway through my first event on this flight, and sweet mother of mercy what kind of form have I picked up lately?
Pretty messy first round even though that was actually a very good scoring round. Scored -6, without a couple of really bad mistakes here and there I'd have 8 under. Back nine was really strong, I don't think I could have played that any better!
On to round 2, where my strength surprisingly (and confirmed later) was my putting! I had a couple of really long ones, like 50+ foot ones that barely missed! Thank god I sank one from 33 at some point because I'd have been pissed if I didn't get at least one of those to land. I gotta say, my putting reads and intelligence have taken a sharp turn for the better all of a sudden! Bogey free round too, don't come across those very often!
Sitting at -10 on the cut deadline, continuing where I left off in J. Not a bad start whatsoever when you're fighting for promo marks in your first week!
