I found in my most recent buildout of Golden Isles that going to the corner of the property and creating a bunch of smaller tree farms, grass farms, plant farms, etc. and then copying and pasting them into appropriate areas of the holes and hole surrounds saved an immense amount of time. Since I replanted the entire course from scratch, I had a few different types of plantings that I knew I would want to incorporate throughout. So I made some coastal grasses for my beach edges, a mix of pines and palms for interior dividers, a mix of meadow grasses, for open spaces, and a mix of shrubs and plants to fill in around the property.
By using this method, I had the option of copying as much or as little of each plot of mixes as I needed, and by rotating them before planting within view of the player, I was able to (I think) give them enough distinct visual character to appear natural.
Does anyone else do this? Do you have any other tricks for planting like this? I hope this helps someone who is starting out.

Absolutely I'm using this. One of the biggest improvements to the designer in my opinion. Saves loads of time and you can still go in and tweak each individual plant as necessary. Game changer

This is a fantastic idea, and shouldn't have much more effect on the meter than planting everything each time...and definitely more than trying to do groupings of planting with multiplant or splines...

I used the tree farm idea just to get objects into the "placed objects" filter to save time going through 33 pages of trees...but I hadn't thought to take it to the next level. Fabulous idea!

Great idea! It kills two birds with one golf ball. It gives you the speed of copy/paste, and it saves the objects into the "placed" part of the menu. Thanks!

Great idea.
Then you also know you have some meter up your sleeve as you will delete the “farms” at the end anyway.

I assume when you are doing this copy-paste trick you are planting the originals without adjusting elevation, right? Otherwise everywhere you planted the copies would have to be at the same elevation as the original.

If you bury a tree as a bush and copy/paste it you'll have a full tree again. I think that's what you're saying just wanted to clarify.

They fixed that now the copied plants adjust themselves to whatever elevation you paste them at Whoa. Now that's a game changer.

So when you did this in the old game the items were all locked at a certain height, are we now saying you can copy and paste now and the items will find the natural level of the terrain?
If so I’m super excited.

I tested this for a few minutes this morning and found that if I mix trees w/ plants, rocks and or grasses, the copy only grabs the trees when I used area select - copy - paste. So you can build the look you want in your farm but then make sure you separate them out from each other to expedite copy and paste onto the course. Has anybody else had this same experience?

Correct. I built them far enough apart for the exact method you're describing.

I just use copy and paste for more neutral ground cover stuff (grass and bushes). Other stuff that's more likely to catch someone's attention (rocks and trees) I still like to place individually.
