Whoa, I am so confused. So, you're telling me that in this game, if I move my distance on the shot circle to 85%, I can take a full swing and it will register as 85%? Because I've tried that, and it still goes the full distance of the club. For example. If my PW goes 150 yards, and I bring the aim cursor down to 110 yards and take a normal full swing, it will still go 150 yards. But, unless I'm reading your post wrong, that shouldn't happen and should only be going 110 yards due to distance control. Right? from what I can gather you will still have to hit 85% but because the swing is slower when you play partial shots you will still be performing the same swing in terms of speed could be wrong though haha

This is how I think it works (based on what Sean said and testing of my own): If you want to shoot 85%, and you set your intent to 85%, you still have to do an 85% swing in terms of what you see your golfer doing. BUT, the interesting thing is that, say your backswing takes 1 second for a full shot at 100% intent, then you set your intent to 85%, it will also take 1 second to get to 85% (and maybe 1.15ish seconds to do a full shot). So everything slows down when you set your intent to lower than 100%. So you still have to do a partial swing in terms of what your player is doing on the screen, but if you close your eyes and don't bother looking and have the ability to perfectly time things, you just have to do your normal backswing timing, and it will hit 85%, if your intent is set at 85%. If you want some convincing, try a pitch shot. See how fast the animation goes when you have intent at 100%. Now change intent to 60%. Now do a full animation backswing, you should see it's much slower.

If I dial it back and use the vibration as a gauge, it travels way too far. If I set the distance way shorter than I want, it comes closer to my intent, as long as the tempo is reasonable. Is it me, or am I missing something?

Wow, I always just moved the aim circle all the way up to 100% and then just adjusted my swing accordingly. So, according to this post, that is really messing up my tempo. Instead, if I want to hit a club 70%, I should move the aim circle to 70% and do the same tempo, correct?

Is it me, or am I missing something? I don't use vibration, so it's hard for me to comment. One thing though is that pitch seems extremely sensitive to slight misses in your distance %. So perhaps if you're starting your downswing based on vibration, you're just starting a bit too late and so hit it maybe 5% too hard, leading to extreme misses. Just guessing though.

Sean was saying things regarding downswing tempo which I thought I understood but my testing did not confirm what he said, so I'm not sure about downswing tempo and how things are effected with partial shots.

I just found the same to be true. When they patched the ability to for everyone to pull ridiculously slow, it also effected the way this mechanic worked/works. I've moved on to actually charting out my clubs distances now, however, if I notice any more about this as I go I'll report it back here!
Hope others will do the same. Seems tempo is some kind of an unknown quantity which doesn't play well with others.

titan30003 Okay then!! Back on the course and hitting some balls! I move my intent as short as possible and hit 3 shots. Notice that the tempo has indeed "shifted" Left!, OR has it o_^. Ball 1) I deliberately hit the ball a little "fast". Ball 2) I try and hit my normal "perfect". Ball 3) I want to hit it "slow". Notice again, the tempo "line" itself is shifted L, as I stated in my OP. Previously you would hit "within a range of your tempo" and regardless if it was a little bit fast, perfect, or slow, you'd still get a Draw. I mean, that's what a FAST means! So the "line" remains but now your tempo is no longer affected by intent. Is anyone else confused?!

I am seeing this now, but I'm pretty sure this is exactly what I was doing last night, and I wasn't noticing anything was off with the downswing, ie. my downswing tempo was acting the same regardless of where I was setting intent, and acting normal (as far as I could tell... I'm not very good with downswing tempo consistency, so that muddies the waters). I'm now seeing what you're seeing the video. I was hoping it had something to do with holding the backswing at the top, but even when I sent intent to, say, 65%, and hit a partial at 65%, my downswings are all coming out extremely fast no matter what. Edit: I'm not clear what you're saying with your last paragraph though. Are you saying that it's as if the "Perfect" tempo box has, in a sense, moved from 12 o'clock to around 10 o'clock? And so even though we're seeing it being reported as Fast or very fast, it's actually in that now moved (but invisible) tempo box? Because what I'm seeing in my results, and I believe in your video, is that even though it says it's a fast swing, it's actually behaving as though it were perfect, or close.

Correct! It's hard to hit good swings if we have no idea how intent, different intents, No intent, or any combination we can think of will affect our shots.
I'm a dual thumber, mostly in part because in 2019 my single thumb attempts always had a curve right and would hit FAST tempo's. Well, I'm going to try learning a One Thumb Stick!!! I've recalibrated and this will now be the shot I try to emulate. Why? I hate the two way miss swing here, especially on Master/Legend difficulty with an extra small tempo zone.
IRL most people play for a Draw or a Fade so I'm going to try completely changing my swing and play to a Natural Draw. Here's the swing I'm trying to emulate:

So, I did more testing on the tempo issues. I'm not going to bother to cross post it here other than to mention it any anyone interested can check my post in this thread: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/24258/crazy-swing-tempo-consistencyTLDR - A perfect swing without calibration, is pretty all over the place. Once calibrated, it's pretty consistent, but does see about 20% random misses.
