Since the patch, I haven't had many issues on the putting backswing, but now have 3-4 times per round where my downswing does not register. Instead of putting the ball, I just return to address. Kind of annoying, but I can live with it. I can't get it to repeat consistently, so not really sure what the cause is. Exactly this. Some rounds I can not experience this at all, other times it could be all round, many times doing multiple backswings to try and tap in a 6 inch putt.

Since the patch I have random issues with tap ins a foot or less. Same for me. I put it on my ordinary clumsiness, but that's more than I ever had. Killer putts are still here too but manageable if I'm quick enough to unclick. May be it's the same thing on tap-ins, but you clearly not have the time to lift your finger off the mouse.

Now I find that many of my issues I put on my own lack of skill are shared. On the fist two rounds of CC, I had twice that thing, and it caused me to have weak putts after that, as I believed it was me which lifted my finger off the mouse to avoid a killer putt. Quite penalizing for me....

And I've noticed that no matter how far back I pull my mouse, if I don't pull it quick enough, it won't register. They've definitely been messing with the swing motion, and they are doing it w/o patching, so there's something they are able to control thru their servers I'm guessing. Last night, the mouse swing during putting was very quick. I'm about to go play my qualifying round tonight and I'm dreading seeing how much they changed it again.

Looking on the boards, what has changed with putting is the power based on the marker. If the marker is out for 40 feet, the swing is very fast. If it is down to 20 feet it is slower and if it is down to 4-5 feet it is even slower.
This is probably what threw me off as I wasn't expecting it. That being said it will take some getting used to, and it might be better in the end cause then we shouldn't be blasting a 4 foot putt 20 feet past the hole.
This is one of those changes they say, "We didn't change the swing in anyway" but they changed something else that absolutely has an effect on the swing.

I just tried playing the back nine of my third round for the week without vysnc on, and holy sh%$, it plays completely differently. No more random red slows for no reason, and every shot is within the gray or perfect zones without any red slow/fasts unless I delibrately try to hit them. It's an unbelivable difference compared to 60hz vsync in terms of consistency (at least for me), there wasn't a single shot I was wondering what had happened.
It's strange as with vsync 60 on I literally couldn't hit the gray - my shots were perfects or red slows. Now I'm consistently in the gray or perfects with a mix of grey fast/grey slow/perfects. I dunno if something is up with the vsync compared to last edition, but I certainly saw a difference.
I also tried the 30fps like mentioned by YouStayClassySanDiego on Sept 20, and yep it was very painful to watch (though incredibly easy to get perfects ha).

So how's everyone been getting along? Seems like things have settled and the game's a little better? Pro tip: I've been cleaning my mouse's ball before playing and it helps keep the tempo even. And yes, I know how that sounds.

I've always used a trackball because it stays put.

I use a tracball for everything but golf. I use a vertical mouse with 2k21. I love the tracball especially in shooters or when you have to react fast.

Mice with physical balls and that aren't optical tend to average around a 400-600 DPI so they offer a very nice advantage to swing straight without the chance that their swing will be enhanced by software straightening.
