Fellow Romans, apologies - those Populus Judean really got to me with those flood lights and throwing huge false fronts (pun intended) onto the middle of most greens. As a true Roman, I battled and battled but ultimately, I could not go really low on any of my rounds. No real disasters though, so maybe I can still contribute to our victory over PFJ/FJP/JFP/JPF.... TGCT Round 1
Front nine beset with tempo problems (probably fault lies at my door) and caught out on the slopey greens. Rallied back nine but all to late to save the score. Disappointing -5 Sorry Johnny evilgrin72 left you a lot of work to do.

TGCT Round 2
Can't make my mind up about this course. It certainly looks a lot easier than I'm actually making it. Can't fathom why I'm struggling. Tempo fine. Greens still slopey. It would help if I stopped having the trademark comedy hole each round wasting one of my hard earned birdies. Couldn't catch the elusive eagle either. Maybe next round.... -8

TGCT Round 3
Reasonably happy with this round in the higher winds. Grabbed that first eagle and oh so nearly bogie free until I screwed up the approach into a big wind on 18 leaving a 39 foot downhill putt which I barely tapped and still went sailing past. Disappointing end to a round that promised much and delivered enough. -8

TGCT Round 4Final round in the books and I must say I'm glad to be done. Found the 4 rounds ultimately frustrating watching shot after shot just slide by the pin, not particularly at speed, and roll and roll and roll and another chip. Left a number of chips within a couple of inches which just compounded the feeling. Course is certainly scenically lovely though. Perhaps I should have just taken the dog. See if I've done enough to at least make the Spaniard's inquisitive -7

Society Individual Rounds 1 & 2On a roll with a bit of time on my hands and uncertain how busy work is going to keep me next week I slipped on my shorts and polo, donned the aviator shades and arrived at the 1st tee at Old Olkham Village in blazing sunshine pissing rain! I love these rounds as it's a chance to relax and enjoy the pixel golf and if you screw up you're not damaging your team, only yourself. Whizzed round the opening 18 holes with most things going my way. Into Round 2 and despite being drenched I decided to pay proper homage to Biggus Dickus fransslabak by heading nose first down the bank into the water on the 6th. Was going pretty well until then but the double bogie halted the progress somewhat. Took a while to get back on track and I was having to work harder for any birdie's in the windier conditions. Lovely, fun course and nice one Sam Riotous for selecting it. If only I could jump in the DeLorean and go back to standing on the 6th tee..... Round 1 -11
Round 2 -5

SkyBlueBen 1st round @ Kallen Island -1 Started off well with 2 birdies then hit a bogey on the 4th which was followed by a run of pars up to the 9th. 3 birdies and 3 bogeys on the back 9 compounded a disappointing round.

Well I can't really be much help on this Pat. My nightmare conditions of 187ft greens where I can hardly even see the beads. Turned in -1 and got it going a little bit on the back but not enough. SkyBlueBenRound 1 at Kallen Island.. A tale of what could have been. Started off well with 3 birdies on the first four holes. Then #5 came calling. Perfect drive, but just barely fast on the approach, ball went past the hole and nestled at the edge of the fringe. 18 footer for birdie with basically no break. Struck it cleanly, it broke a bit left to right, seemingly for no reason, but was still headed at it. Nope. Missed by a centimeter and rolled just by, kept rolling, caught a slope, kept rolling, caught another slope, off the green and 5 yards back down the fairway. Left a 36 yard flop for par. Mmm hmm. Wen to the 40 yard flop, it checked up a couple feet short of the hole... Then back spun. Caught the same ridges, all the way back to my feet. 5th shot, I had to overpower a flop to make sure it didn't happen again, sailed it by the hole and into the same fringe I set up in for my third shot. This time, I just tapped it, not even trying to make the putt. It missed, but this time stopped 6 feet past the hole and I was able to drop the triple bogey putt. Just like that, at E though 5. A shame too, as I birdied the 6th, eagled the 7th, birdied 8 and 9, eagled 13, birdied 14, and then closed out with three more birdies to come in in 29. End result was.. R1 : -12 (61) That f#&*ing birdie putt on 5 clips the pin and drops and I finish with a 57, tied for the round 1 lead on the PS4 scoreboard. So frustrating. I'd probably had signed up for a -12 before the round started, but with the conditions as they were, it was ripe to be destroyed and that one damn hole killed it.

SkyBlueBenHitting it cleanly so I decided to charge into round 2. Started off -2 through 4 this time, when I reached my nemesis, the 5th hole again. This time, the approach was P/P and I ended up about 29 feet out for birdie. Putt grazed the hole again and even though I was Uber careful, it rolled off to the right just past the pin, down the hill and off the green again. Bogey. I hate the 5th hole with a passion. Closed out the front 9 with 4 straight birdies to turn at -5. Back 9 didn't start well. Par at 10, then the approach on 11 was slow and ended up plugged in the sand right at the base of the wall. I had to hit backwards to go back forwards and another bogey was carded. Rather than get mad, I got even, birdieing the next 5 in a row. A hard luck par at 17 was followed by a birdie at 18 to finish at.. R2 : -10 (63)

SkyBlueBenFellow Fronters! Greetings and salutations from round 1. The fact I was 2 shots ahead of evilgrin72 has me: Then I flopped in from the bunker for an iggle on 6 to feel: Nothing more outward, -4 at the turn and I am pleased. Inward starts chirp-chirp-par-chirp and the Front and I are: 14 brings a visit from the Humph, but since I am more than comfortable with failure I am: Rally for a couple of chirps coming in to match the outward -4. -8Did I finish ahead of Johnny? No, because I am...afterall....Art !#$@!$#@#$ Vandelay! Onward!

SkyBlueBen Round 2 reminded me why I am not a fan of 187s. Front nine looked like a ball park frank, all mustard and ketchup with one bit of onion. -2. Back nine not as colorful but did have a bit of relish. -3. -5Captain Marc Crazy Croc I left you with lots of work to do. Onward!
