Round 4 at Amaroo :
Too little, too late? I finally got a handle on Amaroo Bay - whether it was the pin locations, the 144 greens, finally figuring out the altitude differences, I don't know - but it finally all clicked. 8 birdies on the front 9, the only par coming surprisingly at the relatively easy par 5 when the birdie putt stopped on the lip. Back 9 was tougher, but I was pretty locked in with the irons, the putter just went cold. 4 pars and 4 birdies on 10-17, but all the pars were near misses with the putter leading to < 12 inch tap-in pars. An eagle at the last finished the round at....
R4 : -14 (58) - Sorry IGolfBad , for picking our singles match to finally put it together on this track. I think I was playing too tentatively the first three rounds, this was a real grip-it-and-rip-it round where I attacked every pin and it panned out nicely.
Round 2 at Klopp's Dam :
Standing on the first tee knowing I needed a -11 to tie Marc and Sam or a -12 to pass them was a bit daunting, this is not an easy course and some of the scores I'd seen from top players going in led me to believe this would be a Herculean task. Played well on the front 9, but some of the pins were set where it was nearly impossible to get close. A few long birdie putts once again just missed, but I picked my spots to go flag-hunting and turned at -5. In the mix, as they say.
The came the par 5 10th. Perfect drive and decided to go for the difficult pin in 2, feeling I needed an eagle to make a serious run at the top. I tried to get super-cute with the approach, landing it in the tiny patch of rough between the trap and the green and bounce it on and came up just short, landing in the sand. No big deal, chip on, easy birdie. The chip came up 7 feet short, and the ensuing putt had a wicked break on it - this was one to contemplate. Lined it up, and started the short backswing...
This exact moment was the one my darling wife, love of my life, yin to my yang, chose to fire up the industrial-strength blender to make her revolting banana/strawberry/spinach smoothie for the following morning. The instant and unexpected cacophony (the noise this thing makes rivals a jet engine) startled the hell out of me and I hit the putt too hard. It ricocheted off the edge of the cup and, with a sling-shot effect, rolled away from the hole, leaving a hard-breaking 14 footer for par. She could muster only a meek "sorry....." as I glared at her with visions of Launcelot making mince-meat of the wedding guests flashing through my mind. Predictably, the par putt stopped on the lip and I took a bogey 6 after three-putting from 7 feet. At that point, I knew precisely what my final round score would be.
Sure enough, 5 birdies in the next 7 holes with two putts that tickled the edge left me at -9 going to the 18th. The eagle chip rolled about 1/2" left of the cup and didn't catch the pin. Tap-in birdie and a round of..
R2 : -10 (62) to finish at -19 for the week, one shot off the pace. That birdie putt on 10 goes in and I'm at -21 and a shot clear.
Being from NJ, I know how to dispose of a body. It's only about 5' 4" and 100 pounds, anyone got a hacksaw and some lime?
Acid & a tin bath tub is what was used around my way If I learned anything from "Breaking Bad," it's that you do have to choose your acid and your tub VERY carefully....

Side note : it's taken 3 weeks of playing a couple of holes of round 1 in Korn Ferry and then bailing out to get enough demo marks to demote myself back to CC-A, but I should be there next week, so Greg can pull my scores from the TGC standings...

4th round -8
Another round that was bogey free and unfortunately it was eagle free as well, a lot of missed putts stopped me from hitting double digits. Three birdies on the front 9 which were spread out on the 2nd, 4th and 7th holes had me at round about my usual score after 9. Back to back birdies on the 10th and 11th were followed by birdies on the remaining odd numbered holes to get home at 8 under.
In the bunker at the 18th I found a note saying "What thou seek may not be where you stand, thy holy grail may be lost on Kallen Island"

Rd 3 -4
More of Gromit's close shaves with the holes, could of been at least double the score.
Order's gone in for 2K21 bundle. Makes it sound like a wrestling game rather than a golf game.

Round 3 at Amarooooooo
A solid, bogey free -9 round but didn't make enough putts to make it a really good score.
Onward!!!

Perfectly good course ruined by stupid play, bogie on the 1st a double on the 16th plus 3 tap in birdies made sure I wouldn't get to double figures, why do I always screw up the course's I know back to front, SMH.
Round 3: -8
