I wonder when it'll be -18 under a round to make the cut. I actually played some of my best rounds and thought hey I have a chance. That was a giant mistake. I worked really hard to make the Q-School and do well, but I'm beginning to think making it into the PGA Tour is over taxing my abilities. I really hate to say it, but I think its time to ask for a demotion to a Tour where I can actually make the cut.

Welcome to the PGA Tour, I guess. I dont really know what you expected to be honest. The PGA is going to be the place where -11 is very average at the TGC. You're going up against guys who birdie almost every hole and shoot low 50s with crazy regularity.

I guess I looked at it this way. Only the people who could compete in it would make it to this tour. So somewhere along the line I got put in the wrong tour, as least as far as I'm concerned anyway.

Bruce, if you are missing cuts and not having fun, by all means email commish@tgctours.com and request a demotion. That's why it's there. You need to be in a tour where you are having fun. Period.

Its great playing the courses, but not making cuts isn't much fun. With the scores I had during Q-School, I probably shouldn't have made the PGA Tour. I think I shot in maybe the +5 to -5 range. Thanks Tim, I did just that I wrote and requested a demotion.

An interesting discussion is why we are cutting half the field in events. On one hand you can make the argument that it mirrors the real PGA & Euro Tours. On the other you can consider why it is they have a cut (which wouldn't necessarily apply for us here) and that one could argue there are many "not realistic" changes made in the interest of how this game/tourneys are run efficiently. For example allowing players 6 days to get their 1st two rounds in isn't realistic to the real Tours.
I really like the idea of a cut line as it presents a game within the game and something to strive to beat for guys like me who don't have the ability to win. It may just be a little on the harsh side for almost 1/2 the players on the Tour. Maybe a less strict cutoff at the lower 25% of the field would be more satisfying. Just an idea.

This reminds me of something Tim (or one of the other admins here) posted prior to the tour starting. You have to set your own goals - if your goal is to win each week, then, unless you're one of the 2%, you're going to be disappointed.
Personally, my goal was to make every cut (so far so good) and to get a top 5, 2 top 10s , 5 top 25s. The top 5 might be tough, but it's a realistic goal to strive for...and I'm having a blast trying to keep the cut streak alive

Yea I remember that post. My goal was to make the cut at first and I think I did early on, and then it was downhill from there. Then i started to gauge my progress from others in the field. So my goal was to hit -6 under, then -7 under and so on until just recently I actually hit -12, but hitting that over and over just wasn't going to happen, I just happened to have a hot round. I never had asperations to win, but being in the top 200 would have been nice. So If you set goals, make sure you set them, and not be influenced by what others do.

We have no plans at this time to reduce the cut lines from 70.

For example allowing players 6 days to get their 1st two rounds in isn't realistic to the real Tours. Maybe a less strict cutoff at the lower 25% of the field would be more satisfying. Just an idea. To your 1st point: If our real life job was to play TGCTours than maybe we could implement that, but it's not, so, we try to give people time to get in those rounds when it is convenient to their real life schedules. To your 2nd point: Let's say there is someone who is consistently in the bottom 25% of the field. They pretty much miss each cut and start to wonder, "Why do they allow 75% to make the cut? Why not all of us? It's only an additional 25%" There's really no way to make everyone happy, so we try to be as realistic as possible within the realm of this video game world. But I love you Fred. And I love your debate and ideas. Never stop.

Maybe we can get a consecutive cuts made streak stat somewhere. I know right now several people are tied, but you are bound to miss one sooner or later. Maybe. lol

Spot on with the goals. I had two goals when I started playing. 1. Make it to the PGA. 2. Make a steady move up the rankings board. So far so good. The rest will come.

Well I received the official OK for the demotion to the Web A tour. I must say it was fun in a way to try and keep up with the high rollers. But at least in the web tour I might have a shot at at least making the cut , and that for now will be my goal. It was fun rubbing shoulders with the PGA guys, and watching those amazing low scores !

!/2 the field misses the cut on the real tours as well. Most PGA Tour events are full field at 156 players, of which only top 70 and ties make the cut, therefore 86 players are cut each week.
I had a good made cut streak going for a while, but my own poor play has caused me to have a few weeks of missed cuts in a row.
If you shoot much worse than 64 - 65 in the first two rounds, chances are, you won't be around for the weekend.
