Yeah, I was pretty surprised when after scoring -8 after 6 rounds of Q school I was sent to the PGA. But I got demoted to Web B and am having fun now. It's more of a challenge now whereas before, making a cut was simply beyond reach.

A -8 in Q-School is still to the day in the top 20% of all Q-School finishers.

I guess I looked at it this way. Only the people who could compete in it would make it to this tour. So somewhere along the line I got put in the wrong tour, as least as far as I'm concerned anyway. I have played all season in the PGA, same issues as you. I asked to be demoted. It was a shot to my pride, but as of this week I am a Web A tour player, and I am happier. I get to play four rounds. I feel like if I play my best, my very best, I can finish top 10. If I suck, I will miss the cut. That is how it should be.

That is pretty epic . Talking of improvements, I had to improve majorly during Q-School. I kinda just jumped into it, not practicing the courses properly and finding myself at +29 after 4 rounds, then realised I needed +30 to make Web.com so I knuckled down and managed +1 and then -2 to sneak in by 2 shots. That felt pretty awesome. My goal since has been to get to the European Tour, I got really close after getting an exemption but missed the cut and they've since made promotion a lot harder. Initially was pretty gutted but actually its just upped the challenge and I know that if/when I finally do get there it will feel pretty sweet just to be on the tour... But I need to not hang about as with the rising standard its only going to get harder!

I would never have guessed. I could never even get close to the -20 needed to make a cut on the PGA. I wonder what the low score was last December then.

I obviously would love to win, but trust me I have not been sandbagging on the big tours... It is interesting... -8 on the PGA misses cuts, -8 on the Web A is top 15. There is a big disparity.. I land in that no mans zone... I think it will settle out with time, but I do worry about perception if I do succeed on Web A

The web.com tourneys have been harder than the PGA recently, but that is all set to change...

-10 was enough to make it into the PGA tour, but links golf is where its at European is as good as the PGA tour.

Learn from the mistakes you make instead of doing the same every round. It took me a good while to improve certain parts of my game. I used to miss most putts on the low side. So i started aiming to where i thought i should then added more until it became natural to aim there. In Qschool i scraped in the euro tour at +5. I did not dream of competing anywhere near the top at this point. In my 1st comp i missed the cut so i made minor adjustments to fix certain things. A few comps later i made the cut. A few comps after that i finished runner up. A few comps after that i won the biggest comp of the year. After giving you my life story my point is NEVER GIVE UP. this story should show all the people who dont believe in being able to compete that it is possible.

This is interesting and something my group of friends has been talking about for a while. It seems as though there is a group of players that are kind of stuck in the middle. With the pga and euro tours being 1a and 1b, the top 100 players can kind of 'spread themselves out'. So let's say 50 are playing pga and 50 are playing euro in any given week. With 70 making a cut, and assuming a top 100 player is going to make the cut many more times than they miss, that leaves 20 cut line spots on each tour in any given week for the 'middle pack pro' to fight for. But, if that middle pack pro drops to Web they will tend to do pretty well. My group is all 'cut line' guys on the euro tour. We've been playing the web courses in parallel to our euro tour courses over the past few weeks, and seeing where our scores would match up against those leaderboards. Generally, they match up pretty well. It becomes a bit of a dilemma to be honest on whether to demote or not. Not to mention the perception to existing web.com players that might see something like that as unfair. We've really been struggling with it conceptually for a few weeks, in terms of what to do.

Simple answer - elevate your games... ;-)
I'm in same situation and play for that week where it will finally come together. Also break into top 100 and get to play some WGC or Majors. Have to set goals, don't have to be to win every event....

Trust me, this was my dilemma for weeks as well. This was not a rush decision. I finished T15 on the Web this week. I plan on being in the PGA/Euro tour by year end, but I need the practice in tournament feelings on Sunday.
