Nevada, for what it's worth, Anthony and I have already been tossing around this exact idea in an email thread :-)... How does a wind indicator that shows direction and strength (Calm, Med, Windy, Gusty) sound instead of an exact number? Of course, this would be optional and a Tournament/Tour setting, not for everyone. That's definately something for them to implement as it would make that a guestimation and more is needed. Need to somehow take the marsh out of it to some degree. What about here at TGCT tho Tim. Any swaying to looking at settings for the top tours?

On the EURO tour the best average is 59.3 per round compared to the worst which is 72. Which score do the designers cater for ? No matter which they go for the best players will always be near the top of the leaderboard. ( if the top players are scoring around par the bottom players are scoring mid 80's which is also unrealistic ) I think people understand that no matter what is done, the leaders will be the leaders. I believe what is really desired is for our leader's scores not obliterate the real world scores so badly... lol Ding ding ding. This guy understands it.

If you want the scores to go up just hit the ball more times per round.

If you don't know exactly what the wind is, it's tough to fire directly at that tucked pin with trouble all around it. If you want to take it on, then it's risk reward, as it should be. It would be interesting to have to face more of those decisions, as right now you have enough information to basically go right at every flagstick.

The best player on the PGA Tour right now has a scoring average of 69.3, about 10 strokes worse than our top players.
Yes, moving it up would push the scores up globally to a degree. Good course management should always make par a possibility for any hole. Birdies should be never be taken for granted and bogies should be a possibility. It's really that simple.
If this game was designed to be like weekend amateurs playing then the scoring average would be 107 which is the recognized average score for amateurs. I realize most would say that isn't fun, but that's like saying real golf isn't fun...and maybe it isn't for many who play this game. What makes the game fun is being able to shoot like you would want to on a real course, but for many of us wouldn't shooting an 80 be an absolutely joyful day on a real course?
Not making any judgements about it all, just throwing out some food for thought to mull over.

Most people don't realize because on the weekend the scoreboard does not include players who missed the cut. Designers should shoot for the top 20 players averaging around 65-66 for their rounds. I'm sure many of the top players are willing to test potential courses to see what they shoot.

Speaking of if you guys would like to play the first 7 holes of my US Open course to help me get an idea of scores I'd appreciate it. It's named TGCT-USOPEN2

The opens should have a final winning score around even par. That is how they try to setup for the real life tourneys

The problem is different tours are playing different courses and not necessarily the right ones. This Pellaway Hills at 6400 yards should have been on the Champions Tour or Web.com Tour. While it is a very nice course, it is way too easy for most PGA Tour members. Then there are courses like they had the last two weeks for the Champions Tour that had a lot of sloping greens and caused really high scores that probably while not as aesthetically pleasing to the eye, could of been used on the PGA Tour.
Now there has been mention of a stricter course selection method coming in April. Hopefully that might balance things out.

Scores in this game will NEVER match those that are shot on the actual PGA and EURO courses unless all aids are taken off. And then THAT opens up a whole new bag of complaints. Let's remember something, this game hasn't even been out a year (let's give them time) and HB Studios can't cater to the top 10%. TGCTours is that top 10%. Our best players are the top 1%. They are going to shoot scores in the 56-60 range fairly often. It's just the nature of the beast.

Things will definitely get better. This week's PGA tourney highlighted the problem. You can't have guys shooting -22 thru 36 holes and missing the cut, that's just crazy.

This is how easy it is to putt with no grid, and how you can read the green. It is so simple, doesn't take very long, and will easily balance out those low scoring events. The top players will be true top players, and so forth. I am not a great putter, because i need so much more practice, but the guys that are - really stand out.
Here is my quick video just to show how easy it is to do so. I purposely lowered my resolution and settings to 1280x720 to make it more blurry so those who say they can't read greens, have no excuse.
Other than waiting for April, or for HB to do their thing, this is something you can control right now. Just food for thought:

Tougher venues should be the norm for the future.

With minimal effort you can make a course that you struggle to shoot even par on with all aids on. With the fabulous course designers we have, it's absolutely possible to make very interesting, fun, difficult courses that fall into scoring range of the the real players. That's the best part of this game, it's all in the hands of the designers

I think The Challenge Club was really well done. I am sure there have been some low scores on there since last I looked, but it was definitely a "challenge" and on the right track.
