Really think it's radical? I thought it was very simplistic but would be effective and more realistic. Absolutely. But I already can hear a large crowd of people flaming HB Studios for taking away exact wind and/or elavation numbers. And that's for sure not what they want their customers to do. Me personally, I still like the idea(s) and really wanna see them going live. Maybe I should clarify it a bit more, I proposed it as an option under settings, not a replacement of the existing display. If people want the exacts they can still certainly have them.

Might be a good idea to clarify that. ^^

And this is just my two cents worth.
I have made my way to the PGA tour from the Web tour. I think imho that we as " pros " should play the game as pros would play. And that is with all aids off. I think that the two pro classes should be just that, pros and that means no aids. You want to see scores come down, I guarantee you won't see a -71 then.
Let the other tours play with aids. Then when it's time to move up to the pro ranks you should be well versed in the fine points of the game and ready to step up for the real challenge of being a pro tour player.
IMHO that would make players feel a sense of real accomplishment, a real feel of satisfaction knowing you can play with the big boys with no other aids but you.
Another suggestion. Courses should have a minimum length, firmness and green speed in the pro class. Sure , throw in a relatively shorter course every once and a while but make them pro class events. You won't see too many 6300 yard courses on the PGA tour.
And please let me be clear. I am having a great time playing this game. But, you have to admit, it is starting to turn into a tiger woods scoring fest. And if no one else or the TGCT as a whole don't like these suggestions then thats fine too. Just some food for thought.
Maybe put up a pole and have the rank and file vote on these suggestions and this way we would know if these will never fly or maybe this is what people might want. Again, just a thought so please be gentle LOL Thanks for listing.

I'm with Dennis above, he's right, I'm a new convert, it's time the PGA tour shut off all the aids.

Sticking a driver in my hand for a 40 yd pitch is further away from realism than having a club already selected in hand (my caddy gave it to me, there's the realism for that ) There will be another issue for some people - screen resolution in relation to reading a green. People on XB1 say the graphics on that end make it really difficult. Some PC users do not have machines with enough bells and whistles to run the game at a level required for no grid.

One other suggestion for thought. One of the other clubs a few of us play in put the tournaments in the tour section. This way there can be four different pin placements. This way people can't play 50 practice rounds , get everything dialed in and then go play the tournament. If the pins were all different then practicing would be just to get a feel for the course.
Nevada is right on that. Maybe wind indicator, no mph and club selector. But no auto club in hand. I like that.

I'm by no means a course designer, however I quickly auto generated one with tough settings. Cleaned up a few glaring problematic areas.
Search for it, course name is AHv1
Very sloped greens, but slow speed so the ball doesn't fly around crazily on putts. I've heard people say to speed and firm up greens, but I believe we need sloped greens that are soft and slow to get the desired effect on score.
I can play it around even par, this is the kind of difficulty I would love to see for PGA/Euro majors.
And then somewhere in between for regular tour events.
Maybe the PGA and Euro tours can be differentiated by course difficulty. 1 tour have difficult courses, and the other easier. That way people can go back and forth as they choose.
Perhaps I'm barking up the wrong tree, but courses can be creative, interesting and difficult.

Might be a good idea to clarify that. ^^ Adam from Hb likes it. He commented a couple times, including "if the community felt strong enough about it I'm sure we could sneek it in. On the surface it seems like an easy win to add difficulty." Ah yea, let's make this happen!

People on XB1 say the graphics on that end make it really difficult. Some PC users do not have machines with enough bells and whistles to run the game at a level required for no grid. You know I've heard this so many times, yet several guys stream their no grid gameplay on my tour - and they read it just fine. Even then, putting isn't just about reads, sometimes it's just about execution and going with your gut. What fun is to know the absolute way the slope of the green is...every single time. It's like we call ourselves pros but yet we don't want to accept that pros are humans - that make mistakes, from green reading to just plain ol' poor execution. Fwiw, and I know TGCT will eventually go this route, my tour has over 50 members in less than a month. These are guys and gals that accept that true competition breeds when you're placed out of your comfort zone and forced to survive the grind. The excellent players do what they do, but they're not handed the trophy - and they don't need to shoot lights out to win every single time. The guys that struggle, need to practice - and practice the right things, because just like IRL, scoring well comes from within 100 yards - why make it easier and short the experience of learning true skills by playing with grids on any longer? This is a no brainer for me.

Setting a wind range is a good idea, but it will not have much effect on scores.
6-10 mph range? Set up for 8mph wind, most you can miss by is 2mph, and that 2mph miss will happen approx 33% of the time, the other 67% will be 1mph miss or less, having virtually no effect on your scores.

I think that's just enough to make a difference because an accurate shot is based on good math. Obviously most people will aim for the middle number, i knew that when I thought of it. I think that 2 mph is just enough to make a difference. Add in that nobody can hit a dead on 12/6 analog swing every shot (nobody does that, right?) and you've got a good recipe going. Then add the elevation one - it goes hand in hand with the wind.. Go ahead and middle that too. If you want to talk odds, the odds are there won't be too many times when someone gets the perfect shot with a middle selection all the time. It's kind of the same odds as hitting a hole in one, maybe slightly better.... maybe. Also, the increments could be changed, 5 mph isn't set in stone. It could be 6 or 7.

People are going to hate the scores on the Euro tour next week, should see -70 or -80. Exactely that is making me think of crossing over to the PGA again next week. Don't get me wrong, the course (Isla Madeleine Resort) is looking fantastic... but a bit tooooo easy maybe. How easy/hard is the TGC at Hunter Meadows compared to this one? Does anyone know by chance? Just answered that question to myself, shooting a 59 in my very first round on that course. Seems even easier than the European course next week.

On the EURO tour the best average is 59.3 per round compared to the worst which is 72. Which score do the designers cater for ? No matter which they go for the best players will always be near the top of the leaderboard. ( if the top players are scoring around par the bottom players are scoring mid 80's which is also unrealistic ) I think people understand that no matter what is done, the leaders will be the leaders. I believe what is really desired is for our leader's scores not obliterate the real world scores so badly... lol

Nevada, for what it's worth, Anthony and I have already been tossing around this exact idea in an email thread :-)... How does a wind indicator that shows direction and strength (Calm, Med, Windy, Gusty) sound instead of an exact number?
Of course, this would be optional and a Tournament/Tour setting, not for everyone.
