This course so far has been tough but pretty fair I think. If you hit your spots you have reasonable chances at birdies and even a couple eagles, if you miss your spots you are punished accordingly and will have a hard time getting up and down for par. In my opinion, that's how I'd think you want most courses to be, particularly majors. 100% agree. I also like how the conditions were set. I love that there was one round with basically no wind, and one round with very high (I'm typing this message prior to playing the 4th round, so I may change my mind). I also like how the designed putting speeds were respected and left at 182 for all the rounds. I don't mind them changing during tournaments, but it's nice on a tough track like this to not have to readjust every round to a new speed when there's so much else to worry about. Wait, so you’ve played 3 rounds so far yea? You had a round with basically no wind, and another with very high? I had high winds rounds 1 & 2, so what am I missing here... Edit: for clarity, my rounds were: 1) med, VF, def (182), high NE; 2) med, vf, def (182), high E. So I don’t understand how you can play 3 rounds, one of which was barely any wind and another VH...

No, I haven't played a very high wind round yet, I just know it's coming (which is why I said I might change my mind about course condition setup after I play round 4 and experience the very high winds)

Oh ok, misunderstood, my fault. Carry on.

After my great -2 start and the pressure off, I went out and fired a smooth -12 in round 2.
Can I have hole 7 in round 1 back? I'd be near the top without it... instead my masters tournament will be finished in an hour or so when somebody knocks out the -14's

3 more overnight... 2 virgins, and a 3rd that was also removed last week, in an initial sacre bleu - 12 total.

Finding my name a top of the leaderboard hilariously funny
Thankfully I looked at the PS4 leaderboard last night which put paid to any illusions I had that i could have won

If -15 makes the cut it will be because of those brave and valiant souls who so selflessly sacrificed their rounds to the God of API. I thank and salute you all for giving me hope of making a cut at The Masters!

Finished things up today. -10 in Round 1, -12 Round 2, -11 Round 3, -10 Round 4, for a total of -43. Was hoping to squeak into a tie for 2nd (assuming -44 holds on to 2nd), but came up short. Was very anxious playing the last round, and was having trouble controlling the swing, so given that, the result of -10 was great. Here's a boring montage of some of my swings. I was fighting the pull all round.

A very poor defence of my title from last year.
If, by some miracle I make the cut at -15, then at least I showed some fight over the weekend to climb up the leaderboard.
The first two rounds were, quite frankly, appalling: I just had no feel at all and my swing was totally unreliable.
The last two rounds were a big improvement; barring a couple of late bogies on 16 and 17, where I was pretty much dead going over the back of both greens, I played some great stuff and swung it much better.

Was -27 with 27 holes to go and the wife and kids erupted and finished -30.
Life is just tough right now and I just can’t play the game much to stay sharp.

first bogey on 18 in R2...to miss the cut by 1...my goodness. Ouch. I needed to birdie 18 to get to -15 and hit a fast downswing, ended up 27 feet away from the hole, with a downhill, sweeping left to right putt. It went in at about 20 mph but it went in. Small victories in a god awful round but it was enough.
I'm playing on the weekend!!! Thanks again to those who sacrificed their rounds to the God of API. I'm drinking a toast to you all tonight!
I'm perplexed tho. Putting average per hole I'm #1 LOL with 20 and 21 putts. I guess that is great and would have been a whole lot better if i wasn't 105th or so in GIR.

first bogey on 18 in R2...to miss the cut by 1...my goodness. Bummer man. Missed the cut by two and can point exactly to the two shots where it was lost. I think the drama is indicative of the quality of course and setup. A -15 cutline (or thereabouts) in my opinion should be the target for this circuit. A par doesn’t kill your chances, but bogeys very much will. Kinda how it should be. #medium
