... and if your swing line is robotically accurate, or you’ve a bad one, aided by a glitch, or you’re a short swinger... then that does what? Why could that be a benefit?
It helps you get nearer to the hole, more often, and helps you be in better positions to take advantage those 8-25ft situations you reference, thus grow in confidence and consistency, helping you to perform better in tournaments regularly...
You’re not as stupid as your labouring of this point makes out...
I just think putting gets overlooked like there is no tomorrow. It's my belief that it is without a doubt the most important skill.
And I personally don't think the push/pull "exploit" is nearly the massive advantage you and others believe it to be. (And yes, I've seen all the so called evidence so to speak)...
You're still having to aim way left or way right. And having to do that in high or very high winds (and awkward level lies)...takes skill in my opinion. It's not like swinglines way right or left of the cone go dead straight.
While this new swing rule is advantageous to me (I tend to be much straighter with my lines then the average PGA guy I have seen)...
I think we are trending in a dangerous direction where we are going to lose a lot of good players in the upcoming months with this new change. And I hate to see that.
We'll just have to agree to disagree on this for the most part Fadge and keep labeling me as stupid. All good.
But you can’t deny how different the leaderboards look with the change. The majority of the top 10 many weeks looking back were players who were using the push/pull swing. That’s no coincidence on how much easier it was to get close to the pin with that swing than with hitting it straight.
Now the ones who were winning were also insanely good scorers and could putt lights out. Virt has already shown he’s right there competing again after just a few weeks of transitioning.
