Actually, in this case, I think your spline widths are too narrow. In that second pic, it doesn't look like any heavy rough is bordering the light rough, and both the light rough and the fairway edges are wavy.
Also make sure your spline points are no more than a few yards apart (less than 10 yards). Spline points being too far apart can also lead to wavy edges.

I did get rid of the edges by increasing the path width, in some cases it took going to ridiculous widths of 7 or 8, but it got rid of it.

Anything less than 2.5 risks having these waves. With patience, my cartpaths are all 2.2 but I can't go any lower.
