When you say to have people to play inside the cone, does that take into account a fully lofted shot? The cone is much narrower for that so a player could miss that but the swing line would be on the limit of where a regular non lofted shot would be. Would that classify as a legal or illegal shot according to the data? Probably something we need to test to confirm but my understanding is it spits out a decimal value and that the cone size is not a factor - so when I say stay within the cone just picture that as a full size cone - regardless of amount of loft actually used. Exactly this. The data returned by the severs doesn’t take account of the cone, so the admin team would have to privately determine what this “API” cone was in the range of values and it would be raw swing value input, exclusive of any lofting penalty in game, that would determine things.

If this does get policed I would like to request some kind of knowledge as to what is and isn't going to get pulled to even know if the swing is worth trying to fix. I think that's a fair request. If nothing else, I would have more time on my hands (: I dint think it would be wise to show anybody, visually, what they could get away with, but a graphical representation using the API chart, with an accompanying paragraph may be possible.

Sometimes half my line is in the cone. The top half. The bottom is always left of it. Sometimes I miss left of my target. Sometimes I stay right of target. Sometimes I am nowhere near the cone. Even with putts? Got tied up playing live with Albert last night, so no video from me. I have videos in the Show Me Yours thread. I'll try to get another one up. I assure you that I'm not "gaming" it. However, people have opinions. Fair enough. I try to hit it straight and it is TERRIBLE. I guess if we make the choice to pull all non-straight, then I'll be done. No big deal really. This place is a bunch of fun, but I refuse to try and "fix" my swing to make others happy. I've always watched people play/swing and they look super straight. I wish I could do the same. Really. I play games for fun. Not to be a chore. If you all swing straight and miss, then how far do you miss? I literally can't tell you how far I miss. I play some Augusta for warm-up and then me tour rounds. Usually. That's it. Maybe 5 rounds a week or a touch over. Zero more than that. I can't tell you how far my miss is because I just don't know. End of the day, not going to stress over it. The admin and everyone here are wonderful people. All I can do is see what they decide to do. Sorry if this post offends anybody. It's 2020. 😊😊 I remember awhile back some people here began making not so clever and snide comments about your swing. But of course only when you started consistently putting up good scores. I knew one day they would turn on you so to speak and here we have it. And I find it ironic that hitting too straight was all the outrage before and now it's hitting too crooked. Oh, fadge, I quoted Daxon not you so please.

Here’s a radical thought, why not all use beginner clubs then no one will go out of the cone 😜

Guess my question really is - if you intentionally swing a little more to the right - does your line go in the cone? Can you angle the controller differently etc - can you physically get the white line into the cone or is it impossible? It’s hard to say, this has been my swing for years, when I try to go more right it goes outside the cone to the right. Just watching my 9 holes real quick, for full shots I had 6/15 inside the cone 6/15 straddling the cone’s left edge 3/15 outside the cone (maybe 11:15-11:30) No matter what I do though, I think I would be right around 50% inside the cone. But that's fine Chris. The people "gaming" this very deliberately never go anywhere near the cone.
I think you're comparing Apples & Oranges a little bit. I suspect your API charts would differ greatly from the people using the exploit (granted there are other people more qualified to say that than me)

Ive been reading both threafs and taking on board all the points getting put across. Ive also watched a couple of old tgc2 videos on youtube if anyone is interested. The swing in tgc had a lot of similarities to this we have now but I'd never clicked. In tgc2 we never had the aiming circle it was just a cursor so we had nothing to judge it off. Ive swung it in the confines of yhe lines on both and used to allow for a squirt to the right as i always favored that natural shape just as dales is to the left. I used to play a percentage of boxes/taps left of target to allow for this.
Since this has been put out there ive taken note of how it plays and changed how i look at the shots im Now playing. Im not aiming for a push as cos i swing finger and thumb its hard to replicate and favours the arc of a thumb swinger as dale demonstrates to great effect. But instead of using the center of the circle as my aim point im adjusting a few taps left of target and getting some really good results. ( ie knocking my approach shots consistently closer than i had been before). I used to do this all the time on tgc2 but maybe cos of the change in feedback meter id had a mental block. (i havent altered my swing just paying more attention to where the potential squirt is gonna be.) I swing it in the blue like i said and by aiming left if i straight one i miss by a few left. If the feedback was the cone dales swing wouldnt be questioned at all. I bet in tgc2 he favoured the left side of the cone with his swing then too. What does bug me is the push swing from 7-1 8-2 and so on, that on api is consistently miles out the ball park but only plays edge of the circle. Ppl who play this shot are rarely seen playing true sim as it takes the accurate mishit out of the equation.
To penalise someone who is in the cone is wrong as that has always been in the game And doyleys idea of setting a cone matrix on the api is good in theory. Its when they are out the blue wildly and still shooting -60 that makes my piss itch. That is an exploit!!!!!
Moving forward i can see only see a few alternatives to cure this. ·take away the zoom in on approach shots but keep all putt cams in the game. This will eliminate the aiming at the edge of the circle exploit. Ppl can still watch the flyover and see what the green is doing up ahead and judge there shot accordingly. Or ·go to pro clubs on all tours where the mishit advantage is lessened across the board. The push/ pull is far less advantageous with the pro clubs and maybe normal service can be resumed.
Long and short of it. The circle gives you the miss hit range for each club so edge of the blue is now more easily identifiable with masters clubs. Take it away and part of the problem is sorted. I dont know if its possible to change circle to the old cursor in game settings( might be worth a look ). If not that'd be an easy fix on HBs end not that theyll change it this late in the day but could be an option. Take the approach cam away and were all blind. No accusations of wrong doing and definitely no more 8-2 short swings. Fact. Certain ppl just wont play if you take that out the top tours. Keep the pitch chip and putting cams on but just take the long approaches off. I played a society with these settings only a couple of weeks ago and certain top players who normally play in the tour swerved it and i can only surmise it was because of that exact reason. Be interested to see what all your thoughts are on this and whether doyley and all the tour bods would set a test event with masters and approach cam off maybe in special events to test the water! We all want to play competitive golf on the most level playing field we can get.

So if the admins are going to (potentially) police this, then they will need some factual data to match up with what the API is telling them....... So they will need either videos or screenshots (of the swing path) (from a TGCT tour event - doesn't have to be someone's proper tour - so the API gets its data) - and they will need it for both people hitting it as straight as they can (ie aiming for the blue cone) and also people deliberately missing the cone (whether 'natural' swings or other people doing that temporarily) So tell us what you need Doyley , and let's see if it is actually possible to properly police this......

Yeah that's what I was worried about, if the API flagged people who were not inside the cone the majority of the time I think I would get pulled. After Doyley mentioned that the API uses decimal places and there is no inside/outside cone metric I felt a little better about not having to make a change in the future. Just wanted to illustrate how someone can have ~50% of there shots inside the cone.

Be interested to see what all your thoughts are on this A few thoughts. If you are squirting a little right but sitll in the cone your misses should have the same variance as everyone else, so it is a 'no advantage' push swing and couldn't be considered an issue by anyone
Turning the scout camera off is something I would support and it does take away the aiming advantage, but it doesn't solve the lower dispersion relative to the variance in the swing line.
I think a lot of players on here don't want the scout camera off and are really focused on studying the red and yellow spots on the greens prior to their approach to figure out how to run out the ball toward the hole. If I am correctly understanding how it works this would also take that away, which would be fine with me but probably unpopular

Ppl wont be able to be as accurate as was before tho ben imo. You can still see overhead cam of hole and if you hit r1 i think it is, it zooms to overhead of the green plus youve got the flyover cam. Takes a bit longer but you see all the hole then. Bit more true to life. You aint gonna walk to green from 200+ yards 😆. The big thing for me is because the circle for each clubs size changes. There'd be less dart throwing. I know ppl will still have an idea but its alot harder having numerous 15-20 ft putts than 12 inside 10ft every round.

I know this is so people cant do borderline api stuff but if its deemed fair then it should be fair to be on the borderline. I'm sorry but if this is going to be policed at least do it right. I mean I dont run this site and I appreciate those who do but I just want to know what is and isn't fair by standard. If the best Im gonna get is an idea then I don't want anything and Ill just pack up my bags.
