Unbelievable that Ogopogo missed cut. Tragedy... and for this tragedy, a moment of silence.... #rememberNecedah ?

Top 40 is not a bad achievement considering the depth of the field.
Thanks to all the judges as I know this would've been a daunting task.
Glad I got an honourable mention. Good luck to the semi finalists

Im not going to nitpick the rankings because I haven't played all the courses in the top half. There are some that I thought would make it but didn't, and I am just going to trust that I was wrong. I want to say I'm surprised I made it and truly honored by it. Even had a nasty (sarcastic) message ready for today, but we'll have to save that for the next contest.
Now, as much as i've plugged my own course in other threads it's time to plug another's.
One course that I am really glad to see also make it through is Wood Duck Dunes. Really was a wildcard for me. I loved it but wasn't sure how it would be recieved. It's such an ingenious idea and well executed, so that's really good to see.
Goodluck everyone moving forward and good effort from everyone who isn't. Lots of good courses out there that didn't make it.
Ps. Ignore first line of sig just this once

As expected seeing the usuals in the top half. GL !
If you haven't given the participants a play, please do, they will not disappoint!

I’ll also say there are courses in all three categories worth a play.

For those interested in feedback, all of my playthroughs will be at the link below. I'll release each video once the course is eliminated. I wanted to make them public as I learned so much from Reeb, Mayo and Matt's playthroughs of all courses (not just mine) from contests last year and think watching some critiques is easily the best thing you can do to develop an eye for detail and understanding of design. Disclaimer in case I don't mention at the start: all of these are from my first of at least two playthroughs of the course so you get initial reactions, there will be things you agree with and things you don't and I don't give exact scores. Hopefully I mention lots of stuff I liked, but due to the nature of the task, a lot of it will be things I might have liked to see differently and explanations as to why. Designers whose courses I judged, feel free to get in contact if you want to discuss further or explore some of these comments. Above all, I hope these help. www.youtube.com/channel/UC1WwX4dvKq9MoTRXWBfQwzA

Disappointed that after 100s of hours of designing this course it ended up being judged based on a playthrough from the back tees with pro clubs and then a lot of the feedback was regarding bad layup positions, bad landing areas, and tough approach shots/pins. Kind of frustrating after I recommended those tees for pro tours and master clubs and had 4 tees total. Not sure when moving forward how to handle the tee box situation especially with a course that has a lot of fairway bunkers. Not trying to ruffle feathers, just trying to understand. Any thoughts?

Technically, you’re judged on the back tee set unless you say “judge from this other tee”. The judge has to see that the tee set plays well with both Pro and Master clubs because CC players can use either set, and they’d be playing the same tees regardless of clubset.

I was unaware of this... I put in my course post that the 3rd of 4 tees were for cc. Didn’t realize I had to do anything else.

I think the main thing is to make it loud and clear - if it's something as important as tees you want to be judged for the contest then put them bold, in red and make it first thing in the thread saying 'note to judges'. I looked at most threads and some made it a lot easier to find that information than others. Also, some threads have a giant wall of text and when you're about to spend an hour or so judging a course, you don't want to be wading through all of that information to find the bit that's pertinent.

In his defence he did state that the back tees were for Pro Tours (Master clubs) and the next ones were for CC in his original post. As the contest is for CC I thought that would've been taken into consideration.

I missed the tee request in the OP of the course thread. Regardless of where it was posted in the OP, at the end of the day, that's on me and I apologize for that. When we see these, we communicate the requests to the judges. This is something contest organizers can look to improve going forward and I've got some ideas that I'll share with the contest organizers of how to do this. However, I want to make something clear to the group as the one whose judging feedback is being referred to -- insinuating that the reason this course MC'd is solely because the wrong tees were used for judging is an incorrect assumption. Kellen has all my feedback, and can rightfully disregard anything discussed about carry distances off the tee. There are many other points that I bring up in both my notes and playthrough video in terms of routing, planting, sculpting and pin placements that ultimately factored into the score. Those thoughts remain regardless of where I stick my peg into the ground. OldSouled any other questions, you know how to contact me directly.
