Just to test a bit the reception of feedbacks when they are not so good, I wish to point out something about CC tournaments. And considering the topic here, is a good place where to do it.
And, considering also what I'm going to say/ask, all you are absolutely free to accept it as a circumstantiated critic/advice/feedback, trying to help improving the whole thing in the future (as in my intention), or to think that this is just a series of silly complaints, but honestly i don't care, cause i know why I speak, when I speak.
And i prefer to say it not only before to start my tournament, but even before to check the standings, cause my points are not about scores. Is never about scores, for me..that you can believe it or not changes very little for me.
Sorry if it sounds a bit harsh, I wish just to be clear about my intentions. I hope it will works. So..
1) Pacific is a fantastic course. Is challenging, funny, various, not redundant. In short, is a perfect pic for a challenging week on CC-Pro. But considering how much Andre knows how to create infamous (
) greens and that even fairways here are really demanding (not only about to avoid rough or other obstacles, but mainly about lie)and that, most important thing for me, preparing the course appositely for CC, he did it using soft fairways and soft greens with medium speed by default..and also considering we have played two weeks really tough, was really so necessary to use firm fairways and firm&fast greens, especially with this wind?
I say this cause, after 2 practice rounds (-10 and -6, if for someone it matters something, the first with default wind medium..the second with default wind high) i realized that, exactly as it happened at Gerainger (but for different reasons) even this week the final scores will be decided, in a not little %, in fact by how lucky you'll be on a few holes. And this cause there're at least 5 greens/pin positions in which, with this ground's conditions and the default wind (that it will medium high, it seems, earing the feedbacks of the other guys) if you miss the landing point by A SQUARE, your ball is out of green automatically. In 2 of this holes, there are good chances you are also in the water.
And to be clear, my point here is not about if this is fair or unfair. Cause I don't think is unfair. Is about opportunity. I read comments of guys really pissed off..and I understand why. CC players (especially in d and c, I suppose) are in a not so little part Sunday players..or players who in any case suffers tough conditions, cause they're a bit less skilled than KornFlakers or Europeists.
I mean..to play tougher conditions on some week is fine for everyone, even in CC, but honestly this starts to be too much for a lot of people, in this category.
Furthermore, if with fast greens there are not yellow or red slopes, it don't means that automatically cam be a good idea to use them. And... I don't know if my thought is clear..is not about the single difficulty. Is the total amount, the redundancy, of the difficulties. For 3 consecutive weeks. 4, considering that I played Blackflag..and is not a walk in the park, for sure.
2) when there are tough courses that with this kind of ground conditions are a bit extremes, please, try to avoid or to limit the use of the default wind's speed. Cause the truth is that when you set this wind, you have not an exact idea of the speed it will be actually in that round, until you don't play. Cause the default change with a range of various mph, from round to round. And it can became really a problem.
Just for example, at Raynor Ridge one of the par 3s had a 3rd pin that could be easily almost unplayable, cause the firm&fast conditions AND the wind speed&direction. Has been only for a case that the wind was gentle enough and blowing on the "right" direction to avoid tragedies. Again..is just about redundancy, not fairness.
3) Blackflag is a great course, I personally enjoyed a lot my practice round there, but why to use two times in two different flights in less than a month the same course, when we already have designers who complains about the fact we have not enough spots? I know a course don't change the world, but there is no reason to do this thing. Or at least I can't find it.
4) considering how much generally tough are the course of the CC contest, it was not a bit better to use them not consecutively? One of the reason why there are so many complaints, how I said before, is probably cause is by 3 weeks that we face hard conditions and courses. I'm sure it would be avoided creating some week easier in between.
To offer challenges is great..but we shouldn't ever forget that if a game stop to be enjoyable and became just a constant battle, if you're not a very good player is annoying, after a while.
Sorry for the usual long post, but I wanted just to be sure to circumstantiate the best I can my feedbacks..to make clear that they are not just complaints with no reason.
That's all.
Now I go, my a$$ must be canucked and it would be unfair to be late
😓
