^ with all due respect, I totally disagree. This may not be MY top five, but none of those top five don't deserve to be there, if you'll pardon the double negative. Every one of those is a damn good course and I am happy with all of them there. Good luck to those guys still in it!

I don't think mine was fit for CC level, definitely had an illegal pin or two, and was a "for fun" project for me from the beginning with forcing myself into no bunkers and using all of the required elements. I would agree with it not making the top 5. I also don't think I would change anything about it, and it might be my favorite course I've made.
But it's laughable that Necedah is outside of the top 5.

When Necedah was put on the Euro tour a few weeks back I figured it wasn't going to win, but in saying that I still thought it would be top 5. Not my top 5 but all good courses.
PS: hoping for a consolation prize of most difficult course name to pronounce

well. Welcome to contests gents. Judges are all people with their own opinions. Every single one of them was able to articulate their position and justify their scores. Did that mean there was agreement? Not even REMOTELY. But that is life. Usually contests will either have a couple that are just MILES better than the rest or it will come down to the courses that were good but were also the least polarizing. That's just how it works.
Do not judge your own work by the results of contests. Take the judges comments, think about them, take what's helpful...ignore what you don't agree with. I'm going to update the main post here with actual rankings for those that missed the 2nd cut (first cut is not going to be revealed publicly but your position would be shared privately if you like).

Did Pinehurst put in a cease and desist on Necedah? LMAO! Ben wins the Internet today!

Oh Man, sounds like the back room discussions were epic. Sorry I missed out on this one- specifically I would've liked to hear the discussions around Raynor Ridge- bc Joe's template courses are always so polarizing. I cant imagine the judges all rallying around a template course?
I agree with comments on Necedah- clearly the best course in the contest- but it could play a bit on the harder side.

Thanks guys for the commiserations regarding Necedah. Not where I expected to finish, to be sure, and I've been a little grumpy this afternoon, but those are the breaks when you enter these things. I had a few very good breaks go my way in WCoD, didn't get them here. That's the nature of design contests. It's like this guys. We can all work from the same rubric (DRINK!) but at the end, we all have personal preferences that skew how we view courses in comparison to one another. Some love Augus (whoops, I can't say that name), others would rather play Pebble, or Pine Valley or St. Andrews. At the end of the day it all boils down to personal taste. Am I rather disappointed this afternoon? Oh yeah. Do I believe I had a course capable of winning? You betcha. That being said, having sat in that judges chair, I have full appreciation for what they do. It's not an easy task -- and it gets tougher each passing contest as the depth of talent in the field becomes greater. Ultimately, they liked what they liked and didn't like what they didn't and made their decisions accordingly. I may not agree with the end result, but I sure as hell respect the time and effort they put in to reach it and can accept the final outcome. So with that, congrats to PithyDoctorG mattf27 joegolferg Crazycanuck1985 & SindreRev on making the top 5. May the best course win. In the meantime, time to start thinking about what I'm going to do to defend that WCoD crown!

Erm, in other news, cannot believe I've managed 10th... Way more than I ever hoped for when entering this and I definitely learnt loads - mostly, don't design on PS4. Thank you to those judges who clearly did enjoy Ganglesee and to all of you others for making this contest as much fun and as good competition as it has been.

Top comment there Jeremy Nah. I think your Pinehurst/Necedah comment won the Internet today. Also, ‘grats on the top 10. Between this and Greenstone, I’m predicting the potential of big things out of you!

There we go boys..... the top 10... looong awaited and the drama seems worth it..... . Judging is difficult, time consuming and obviously polarizing. .. good job done then.... next time we might have a bunch of judges that puts Necedah in a top 5... good luck to the top 5 as disagreeable as they seem to be..... and to those of you who decided to give my course the first cut... A huge Terry Grayson middle finger to you . . Thanks for running this comp Reeb.

Huh.
So if we’re not top 10 we don’t get our ranking? Do we get judges notes or feedback? Or just a good luck next time?
