Managed to stream a little of the design process this afternoon. Mostly failing to make a little rugged outcrop, which I can do, but will just need more time and care, and redoing bunkers, but hey ho. On the plus side, Twitch mutes most of my voice (yay!) and you get a little preview of the course so far at 22 mins in. Enjoy:

Course looks excellent and you’ve already done so much! I’m about 45 hours in and no where near as far along as you. Thanks to your previous tip i’m trying a different style bunker on my course using the ‘gingerbread man’, however on PS4 it’s one click at a time zzzzzzz. Your fairway/light rough/heavy rough combination works really well

Your fairway/light rough/heavy rough combination works really well Thank you for the kind words - my previous course was done on PS4 so I totally get that. You should still be able to spam click with the bunkers whilst rotating - I still use my PS4 controller on PC with no issues there. Planting on console is brutal though and I feel your pain. The colour palate is really cool in my opinion although the places heavy rough texture goes nearly white in shadow so have to be a bit careful there. As for the speed/hours thing, it comes with practice and loads of us will be in the same boat - I’m a bit quicker once I have an idea, but will spend ages tweaking a hole until it looks and plays right. Just need to learn to pull the trigger on an idea more quickly rather than deliberating so much.

Alright I cannot figure this out. What number heavy rough is this? I’ve seen it a couple of places and just can never replicate that look

The heavy rough also gives off a slightly different look depending on the light, which is pretty cool.

Looking good Ben. Going to be tough to beat and probably a front runner from what has been posted so far. Hopefully I am not grouped with you lol

Thanks Davidius74 - it's getting there, but lots of reworking of different holes until I'm happy, so pretty slow progress. With Greenstone River due to be published tomorrow, I'll have sole focus on this course, which will be nice. A couple more WIP shots, which show the pros and cons of the lighting/texture combination I've got. The super light colour on the rough is sadly unavoidable in shadow; I just need to weigh up how much I like the mist and lighting vs how annoying I find it: Hole 6 tee shot: Hole 7 tee shot - totally WIP hole with just vague ideas put down, but it shows the lighting/texture issue the best: To be honest, I think the pros outweigh the cons and I'll likely keep the lighting/cloudiness, but I'm interested to know what others think and whether it's really off-putting.

Lighting is always difficult when holes go different directions as it will be good one way and not as good the other as Andre's tutorials explain.

You’re standing a bit too far away from the ball, you’ll over reach and lose your balance. Apart from that it looks bloody good

Thanks man - I was really happy with that course and just shows the difference in speed with designing on PC as it took just over a month. Aim is now to keep on improving! This has some Necedah influence for sure, but only really in terms of atmosphere. Main golf influences are Swinley Forest, Pinehurst #4, Old Tom’s Ferry, Copper Dunes and Ol’ Rocky Top. Taken a little bit from each and found my blend 🙂
