Hope I'm not speaking for Paul, but we've discussed this at length privately, and he did say here publicly that he has no "cheating" issues with chipping from bunkers and/or using tempo to control power. It's purely an aesthetic and realism issue for him, which I totally get. I operate within th confines of what the game gives me. I don't find partial swings realistic either, so I use tempo, as I prefer it... Not sure why you don't find partial swings unrealistic Leon. The chipping is about feel for distance it's about how far you swing back the club as is a pitch Shot. I do find partial shot pitches the toughest to judge distances on this game. The distance manipulation through a slow backswing is a total nonsense and is not golf. The whole idea of not having a loft box is it is unrealistic as much as slow backswing for less distance is unrealistic. The short game plays perfectly fine with partial shots. As for sand, maybe you could chip or putt out of hard compacted sand irl. The soft fine sand we play on top courses you wouldn't have a hope of chipping out of with a LW or SW the clean contact is such a fine line with a lofted club. I have never seen a pro on TV ever chip out of a greenside bunker once. I played my societies last tournament of the year today. It was extremely wet and I found alot of bunkers today with wet compacted sound. My sand game was spot on, still needed to open up that SW face and really commit to the shot. The only successful way I can see chipping out of a bunker is with a chipper. I find it unrealistic because it's FAR harder to achieve than in real life, but also, more conclusively, in real life you can do a full backswing but put less power in, or do a partial but really punch it through and get more power. I TOTALLY get your view on it, and I've come to think your approach is probably "more" realistic, but overall I don't think the game nails it on any of the methods...

Just had a few practice rounds playing Ultra sim (forgot the pin marker rule) Just wondering how long does it take for others to play a round in got 6 rounds in just over 2 hours, just wondering how quick others players take.Scores were not great at the 6 courses. 7 over at oak hill 7 over at augusta nationak 19 6 over at royal county down 4 over at merion 9 over at celtic manor Level at chambers bay Saying that great way to play.glad i saw this Thread. We had a chat on round times, completely depends on your style, whether you use ghosts and how much extra time you spend deliberating. I'm a very fast player, and spend slightly longer on my USE rounds. Those are decent scores! You can get those down pretty quick if you stick with it. Come join us properly!

Thanks for the offer but since the four round set ups changed from the first game the fun of playing 4 rounds round the same course with only the pins changing taken all the fun out of it for me,might try it again today without the marker round some more different courses.

Thanks for bringing us back to scores jeffbdvs , I think under par is a GREAT score this week. Here is a shocker: Ummm....not SO shocking. Well played, young man! Well, it looks like Hammers1man won the rivalry match. He finished at -7. I finished at -5 and Jeff and Art tied at -2. If I have the scores correct. Well, I'm heading to the clubhouse waiting for some drinks! I'm not sure who's buying but I'm thirsty!

Think I was 4/5/5/2 under for the rounds this week. -16 total. That is possibly the most boring golf course I have ever played

Managed to get Round 1 in. Highlight was an eagle on #18. I don't know what it is about this course, but I just never feel entertained. Nothing against the designer, or it's place on the schedule. Maybe it is the long stretch (16 holes) before a par 5.
Round 1 = -6

It was the same old Masters clubs Tuffguts at start of Rd 1. 4 over after 4. Plenty of off tempo rubbish. "Tuffed" it out over the next few holes and sunk a clutch par putt (on the 9th I think) before I went 4 under on the back 9 for an even par Rd 1. Put it together in Rd 2 with low winds....a bogey free -7. Tempo appeared much better. Lots of nice straight drives and irons. A couple behind rob4590 at the halfway mark. Good luck and watch your lines.....

Round 2 conditions were ideal. I couldn't take advantage though. I think I was hitting every approach shot from the rough. I finished the round at +1 and I am Even par for the tournament at the halfway mark.
