Are we allowed to use a course that I have already started to design before the contest was started? No.

Is there a par requirement, or is it frowned upon to have a par 70. I've routed a course that's shorter. Chances are it'll be deleted as im not really feeling it, but just in case.

There is not a par requirement. Just keep in mind that overall playability and variety of holes will be factors in scoring. My most recent course happens to be a par-70 with 5 par-3s and 3 par-5s.

These contests are a good way to show off your skills so go for it. I've been in that position before so enjoy it and I cant wait to see what you all design. 😊

TGC2019 allows players to choose the course settings before their round. How will that affect the judging? Judging will be based on the default settings. Designers know their courses the best.
Just to clarify the above point. The course will be played on all default options; including wind speed and direction which is out of the designers control?

Wind speed and direction is not something that can be controlled by the designer, but they should be considered in your designs. Judges may, at their discretion, modify the wind to get a better feel for your course in any wind condition. The judges for this event are either top designers, players who play tons of rounds, or both. I am confident that a bad wind for a play-through will not wreck your scores.

How exciting.... submissions open today ErixonStone ? Can’t wait to see how this plays out. The designer is not easy and anyone who puts out a course that is contest worthy deserves a big congratulations in my opinion. So with that said, let’s go!!!

Good luck to everyone that enters. Good result or not, just be proud of what you’ve achieved from a blank canvas, it’s a hell of a lot of work that goes into this, so you all have my utmost respect for getting the job done!

ErixonStone Just wanted some clarification, because I'm a stickler for rules. I noticed it seems b101 has at least 4 courses that are tour worthy in the database. He definitely has 3, and in his forum bio he says Tarako Reservoir is also tour worthy. Not to mention he has thousands of plays and handicap rated courses. To me, he doesn't seem anywhere near a rookie designer, at least not on the same level as anyone else here. So I just wanted clarification on the rules for this. I do find it odd that he has 4 courses named as tour worthy by his own admission, but one seems to be missing from the database. Combined with a course on tour in the PGA(Yes I know, it was scheduled after the contest started). If it all checks out, great, I'd be happy to accept it. I just didn't notice he was the designer of that many courses until I was playing casual rounds, looked up the designer and it was him on 2 of the 3 courses I played. Edit: disregard, I'm an idiot who can't read lol
