Just going throw this out there in case it can drive some inspiration for others.. if you want to create water hazards in your holes, all you need to do is after placing the initial water body, lower a second one into the ground directly underneath. This will bring your original textures back and leave the first water body sitting cleanly on top. Surely someone can make a cool hole out of that That is excellent advice

Finally breaking ground on the back 9 and I realized that this hole idea is probably going to take 2 days. And so I'm back to sweating the deadline again. Probably going to have to settle for some less spectacular holes in here somewhere

Probably going to have to settle for some less spectacular holes in here somewhere Shhhh, don't tell anyone - they may not notice! In hindsight using the retaining wall as a theme element may be too time consuming.. but it sure does look good in this case. It's just not just the walls though, it's making sure the camera doesnt put a wall between your view of the golfer. It's very tedious for sure but it looks fantastic(I think). I am glad Eric taught the lesson about object density though, because the walls can also be used to creatively limit certain features from loading, like rocks and the always risky cascading waterfall. I like how its coming along, if I just had more time. Never mind that we're due with no 6 right in the middle of the upload window. FML

No lag that I can see on my PS4, how are you managing that horrible splash effect there? That doesnt appear to be low falls, and if not I need the secret!

I am not quite sure how to take the "horrible" adjective here ohheydog, but I just used two separate "high splashes", one slightly in front of the other. On another note, after going back and playing one of the holes next to the water feature I did get bad lag. It turned out not to be a problem with the falls, but with the multiplanted rocks at the bottom of the pool. I had to take nearly all of them out to get decent FPS. I had heard from another designer that multiplanted rocks can cause issues but never encountered it before.

I just mean that typically when you make anything with multiple high falls close together, the splash effect pretty much puts everything in a fog, and I don't see that happening in the picture. Your water feature is nice I certainly didnt mean that anything about it was horrible

^^ Yea, that’s the way I read it, Thomas was wondering where the mist was, not that the feature looked bad. I love the creativity.

Alright, back to the drawing board (1x8 pine) for the last time. Have a solid idea. Straight lines and crisp angles (almost Frank Lloyd Wright-esque). And hopefully i can incorporate the surrounding area and back drop to make it wow the player.

Thanks for clarifying though. I don't know what I did to make it look good - just beginners luck I guess.

Alright fellow designers, I am having such fun with this Mini-golf thing! Let me know if you get tired of me posting WIP pix, and I might stop. To go along with the Family Mini Golf & Games theme I have installed a regulation 3-wall handball court next to the tennis courts for your enjoyment. It looks OK to me, but don't you all wish there were a few more choices in wall material? Concrete or plywood would be great in this instance.
