None of these past few tourneys have been enjoyable due to the high winds. Would like to play a normal round for once

Started learning where I had to put my approach shot to score and this place has turned into one of my favorites. Every hole could be birdied and every hole could be bogeyed - sign of a great course

59, 61, 68, 57 -43 Pretty happy with the result as a whole. Really bummed about the terrible 68 in round 3. So many lip-outs in that one. Think I'd have had a shot this week if I'd put up a good score. Tough course to go really low on, so I was thrilled with the 57 to close the week. Hope it was enough for a top 10! Great scored!

I hated this course through the practice rounds. Started learning where I had to put my approach shot to score and this place has turned into one of my favorites. Every hole could be birdied and every hole could be bogeyed - sign of a great course I agree. I couldn't do crap in my first few practice rounds. I think I had two 72's and two 66's. I finally shot a 63 in practice, so I decided to try the tourney. By some miracle I shot 61,62 in the first two rounds. This is one course where it really helps to be below the hole when putting. If you leave too many downhills putts, you WILL 3 putt a few times. I didn't like the course at first, but now I really like it because it is more challenging than the courses that we have played recently, and you can't always just fire at the pin without consequences.

Based on my own expectations, I'm pretty disappointed to be sitting at -18 after 2 rounds. I sat at -10 thru 15 in the first round, despite leaving a few shots out on the course already, but couldn't get anything going and parred out to finish with a 62. The second round started poorly, and I needed a run on the back 9 just to finish with a 64, including two bogeys. I just really felt like I was going to excel on this course, while the field would not score as well as usual.
I feel like I could easily be sitting anywhere from -20 to -24 right now, but so many things just weren't going right with my short game and not making sense. The disparity between chip shots, or how pitch shots roll out, is just driving me crazy. I'm factoring wind, slope, lie, everything. No idea how a chip with a SW from the light rough, uphill to the pin and into the wind, rolls out to 16 yards when it normally rolls out to 12 on a flat lie. Just constant stuff like that, leaving me 15 foot birdie putts instead of tap ins... it's just sending me into a rage.

Realy bad front 9 started off on the first 5mph wind from left to right so lined up on the edge of rough on left and hit it pretty straight and the f***er stayed to the left and landed in the deep s**t so bogeyed that, was only -3 after the turn but pulled it back for a -11 which i'm happy about as it could have been much much worse.

Take away the Fast greens, top players would be shooting -16 to -18 on this course, they are almost there now.
To me the course itself was only made difficult by the fast greens and some of the hole locations of course, but there was plenty of room around each hole to make for an easy put if the greens would not have been so firm and fast. As for pin placement, only a few were tucked near front to make approach very tough to keep near hole.
Half the Par 5's were hitable in 2, fairways were a little tough to hit but not terrible. Only a few par 4's were long and par 3's were average length.
In saying all that, I too had a terrible time practicing for this event at first. First 3 times I played it I shot par and had to birdie late just to do that. Then I decided to break it down...
4th practice round I played all par 5's safely and smart to make sure I got at least 4 under. Heck played entire course this way to make sure I didn't bogey as well. And let the rest just fall in place. That round I ended up with no bogeys, birdied all par 5's and ended up shooting 6 under. Kept doing this method for the next 10 or so practice rounds, lol, and finally shot a 10 under.
So I go straight to Tourney and shot -12 for my first round and -10 for my second. I did get a bogey in 2nd round and missed a few birds that should have happened, but VERY well pleased after how I started my first practice rounds as even par.

great course IMO. i never missed so many short putts, the greens were brutal, aka Masters. then i found out a few times the 2nd cut of rough is even worse, so if you miss the fairway making GIR is almost impossible - really kept you disciplined.
i love a course that plays tough when i dont have to worry about the wind
