Timbr0_T I’m discounting your comments because you are Canadian and have no dog in this hunt.
But my “extremist” statement about excile Proved my point. See what exaggeration can do to take opinions that are a little left or right of each other and turn them into polar opposite and hotly debated topics.
My whole point when posting in this thread was that Nike should have realized the image on the shoes would cause issues, although I see nothing at all wrong with the Betsy Ross flag. And my other opinion was that Kaepernick was a tool for not standing g for the national anthem. He was as national figure (celebrity) that had a voice that could have reached a lot of people without him doing something that would turn a lot of fans, sponsors and NFL management against him.
It’s just that some of you think “oh no the Betsy Ross flag image was offensive”. But yet the kneeling for the national anthem was totally not offensive. My point is that Nike and Kaepernick both stepped on their d1cks and should both have handled things better

Quick potted history of America's institutional relationship with their African-American citizens.... 1700-1800's.......................... Make them Slaves Late 1800's - Mid 1900's....... Segregate them (Jim Crow) Mid 1900's - Late 1900's....... Put them in Ghetto's 2000 onwards....................... Put them in Prisons and make them work for corporations for a pittance Hardly surprising they feel a bit touchy This probably the most stupid and ridiculous post that I have seen from you in at least a day or 2.

Re: Nobody is saying we shouldnt celebrate July 4th... Yeah, not directly. But If displaying the Betsy Ross flag is in bad taste because some group of nut-job skinhead neo-nazis decided to deface that version of the flag, then why not go a little further. Hey I realize I was exaggerating for effect. But the entire Betsy Ross flag thing (to me) is a gross exaggeration as well. Don’t care one way or another if that image is on some stupid shoes, but this along with the neo nazi thing ends up in the Betsy Ross flag turning into some dirty image that is to be shunned by all. And that is completely ridiculous. Which led to my comment about shouldn’t we just stop celebrating July 4th... I don’t care about your views compared to mine. But I will say if I were the country leader and you refused to stand for the national anthem then your choice would be a long prison term or exiled from the country that you have no respect for. Again your views may differ. I don’t care. You are entitled to them just like I’m entitled to mine. I can’t change yours and you won’t change mine. This is such immense BS. People with your point of view don't really believe that others are entitled to dissenting viewpoints. If you honestly felt that way, there is no way you would be recommending prison or exile to someone who was exercising their First Amendment right. Besides, what has the US gov't done recently to earn any rational person's respect? A democracy's very existence is threatened as soon as people aren't able to stand up to those in power. Your comment is a perfect example of how the US is moving past the tipping point into authoritarianism and people like you are happily following like the sheep you are. Welcome to the party! Quite the introduction...

Whew...i mean...holey moley... So what would you think if they just decided to not do anthems anymore before sporting events? Do you feel its a necessity? Afterall its not a government sponsored event.

Well, this thread doesn't seem to be overly constructive...
