Right? People are so easily triggered by Kap, it's crazy. One dude even said he was going to order a Betsy Ross flag on Amazon now. That person doesn't sound like he has his panties in a bunch. That person is giving the middle finger to snowflakes. That's the way I see it.
My understanding of "snowflake" is someone who gets all up in arms and over sensitive about a non-issue, correct? Because that's EXACTLY what he did, in my eyes. Complete hypocrite.
Or does the right wing a) get to decide what the "issues" are, and b) be the ones who decide whether they or the person they're arguing with got over-sensitive or not?
In my experience, the right wing are MUCH more thin-skinned and easily riled up, and over issues that really are not important; with a little side helping of hypocrisy.
NEEDING constant anthems and military displays all over the place to keep them happy, being in favour of free speech and the right to protest, unless it's a black guy protesting during one of their precious military/anthem displays. BURNING their own stuff when they're not happy about it?! Lolz...

I 100% disagree. Your pictures are completely useless and just another generalization to fit your narrative. The left complain about everything. Protests and riots over made up s$%#, they want everything banned if they are offended. "My understanding of "snowflake" is someone who gets all up in arms and over sensitive about a non-issue, correct?" Exactly! Kap + Nike = snowflakes A guy hanging up a flag isn't exactly "up in arms". I thinking pulling a product off the shelves is a little more "over reacting" than someone hanging a flag.

I think getting all irate and upset about someone doing something that is in your constitution (protest) and BURNING your own clothes in response can probably be classified as "an overreaction."
The memes are spot on and a fair comparison. Both countries are more obsessed than almost any other over flags and military displays, and both countries have a large population who form their opinions based on emotion and what they're told and not a rational and analytical thought process on what's actually happening.
How can you not "generalise" when you're talking about a whole country??

Yeah, ok, pulling an entire product line of shoes off the shelf because someone might be offended is not "yelling at the clouds"! You are all too funny. Happy 4th!

Yeah, ok, pulling an entire product line of shoes off the shelf because someone might be offended is not "yelling at the clouds"! "Might be offended" is severely understating the fact that the Betsy Ross flag has been co-opted by white supremacist groups. God forbid anyone at least try to empathize with other people. No. Everyone has to view the world the way I do, or else they're snowflakes! Being offended that a corporation decided to err on the side of compassion is yelling at the clouds. Seriously, is your life that affected by Nike not selling you a pair of Air Max shoes in red white and blue with a Betsy Ross US flag? That's the hill you're willing to die on? This should be a non-story.

Wait, are we sure we shouldn’t stop celebrating the 4th of July? After all in that period slaves were being brought into this country. That therefore nullifies any good that was done back then in creating this country.

Taking a different tact, Nike could have moved forward with the design by acknowledging the issue that hate groups have co-opted American symbols. Nike could have come out and say that they will not allow American flags and symbols to be co-opted, and part of that is using these symbols in messages of inclusion.
This is what the Detroit Red Wings did after Charlottesville in response to their logo being co-opted by the hate group the "Detroit Right Wings". The difference here is that the Red Wing logo is a trademarked property of a corporation, while the Betsy Ross flag is a national symbol. The Detroit Red Wings had a lot more say in how their logo is used, in legal terms.
Still, Nike could have taken a stand and said that Americans cannot allow our symbols to be used to spread messages of hate. Maybe that's what they should have done. Maybe they should still do this.

Re: Nobody is saying we shouldnt celebrate July 4th... Yeah, not directly. But If displaying the Betsy Ross flag is in bad taste because some group of nut-job skinhead neo-nazis decided to deface that version of the flag, then why not go a little further.
Hey I realize I was exaggerating for effect. But the entire Betsy Ross flag thing (to me) is a gross exaggeration as well. Don’t care one way or another if that image is on some stupid shoes, but this along with the neo nazi thing ends up in the Betsy Ross flag turning into some dirty image that is to be shunned by all. And that is completely ridiculous. Which led to my comment about shouldn’t we just stop celebrating July 4th...
I don’t care about your views compared to mine. But I will say if I were the country leader and you refused to stand for the national anthem then your choice would be a long prison term or exiled from the country that you have no respect for.
Again your views may differ. I don’t care. You are entitled to them just like I’m entitled to mine. I can’t change yours and you won’t change mine.

Refusing to stand for a national anthem results in a LONG prison term.
Yep, that's definitely an example of the sane and rational attitudes to patriotism that exist in America...

Quick potted history of America's institutional relationship with their African-American citizens.... 1700-1800's.......................... Make them Slaves Late 1800's - Mid 1900's....... Segregate them (Jim Crow) Mid 1900's - Late 1900's....... Put them in Ghetto's 2000 onwards....................... Put them in Prisons and make them work for corporations for a pittance Hardly surprising they feel a bit touchy

This is a very totalitarian and un-American stance. Sorry, but I don't think we can say that anymore. It's always been there in the background, but now it's either the dominant ideology, or a VERY loud opposing but significant minority. It IS American to do this stuff now...

People with your point of view don't really believe that others are entitled to dissenting viewpoints. If you honestly felt that way, there is no way you would be recommending prison or exile to someone who was exercising their First Amendment right. Besides, what has the US gov't done recently to earn any rational person's respect? A democracy's very existence is threatened as soon as people aren't able to stand up to those in power. Your comment is a perfect example of how the US is moving past the tipping point into authoritarianism and people like you are happily following like the sheep you are.
