Ooh, just seen this. Vaping for the win!!
I smoked for 25 years, the last 10 of which I was constantly trying to give up. Read the books, tried cold turkey, gum, patches (many times), spent £200 on hypnosis (and smoked in the car on the way home), longest I ever managed was about 6 weeks and I always went back to it. It really depressed me that I couldn't beat it.
Then a little independent Vape Shop opened up just down the road from me. I'd never really considered it, used all the normal excuses smokers use (untested, prob just as bad as smoking, etc), but when they opened up I thought why not? Originally I planned to use it to just cut down on smoking but instantly I was so impressed I gave away all my baccy in the pub in return for a pint. That was 17 months ago, I haven't smoked since (actually that's a tiny lie, I had one while drunk at my cousin's wedding last September but couldn't finish it, it was disgusting!). Can't imagine ever going back to it now.
I'm still happily vaping, and my wife is quite happy with that too. I've upgraded my vape, now rocking an OBS Cube and chasing a few clouds. Down to 3mg nicotine (after starting on 12) and might cut that out at some point. Might not. Don't care! I can vape in the house at night and nothing lingers, I feel much healthier and I don't stink, at least not of cigarettes anyway. As you've said, it's not the nicotine that harms you, it's all the crap you suck up with it. It's funny too, I really notice how popular it's becoming, going to the football which has always been a very smoky environment, going out for a vape at half time and at least half the people out there are doing the same. All these tattooed meatheads smelling like cherries, ha ha .
Anybody struggling to lose the grip that cigarettes have on you, I have the upmost sympathy, been there, done it and suffered. Give it a try, what have you got to lose?

I too can attest to this being a great and life-changing decision. I usually tell people to avoid the gas station stuff though because for the cost of a carton can get you a pretty sweet mod with a spiffy tank, which makes a good conversation piece. I haven't tried Juul but when I started the stuff in convenience stores was garbage. It's worth the investment, especially when three months later you'll start noticing money piling up and then you'll never go back

Anybody struggling to lose the grip that cigarettes have on you, I have the upmost sympathy, been there, done it and suffered. Give it a try, what have you got to lose? I've recently upgraded yet again to a Freemax Mesh Pro tank after trying it out in a vape store. Holy crap the flavour is unbelievable, and I thought hit peak flavour after the last tank I bought!!! Got a fat 6ml bulb glass to fit more juice in and I was virtually chain-vaping with it yesterday with Momo Drizzle Dream (think lemon drizzle sponge cake with brown sugar). It's insane how tasty it is, the flavour stays in your mouth afterwards because it's so intense and I've been constantly licking my lips lol. Not sure it's compatible with the OBS Cube but if it is, it's about £25 so if you can find one give it a try mate, it really is a whole new level. The guy at the store told me if I really want the best flavour possible I should look into an RDA, but building my own coils is way too much effort for me, and given my DIY portfolio (I've built a bookcase with the shelves the wrong way round before) I'm liable to mess up one small crucial step and have the thing explode in my face. Right now the Freemax is mouthgasmic beyond my wildest expectations, so I'm sticking with that for a good while at least. Edit: review of the tank:

They are 25 years that i smoke. I stop with weed, cause it starts at some point to made the opposite effect that i was loving. But still i roll cigarettes. More or less 15/20 for day. Years ago i stop. Suddenly. For six months not a cigarette and no feeling the need. Then at some point the desire come back,so i started again. I don't know..i have different feelings. My idea is that they are cigarettes that are really..really too good to quit them. The cigarette with the coffe after a good lunch..while i drink my beloved Jim Beam..the one after made love in the proper way with the proper woman. I could live without these kind of cigarettes, but it would be sad. And what i realize is that the main problem are not THESE cigarettes..but the dozen and dozen of useless cigarettes, smoked just for stupid habit, with not even some shadow,of real desire. It's beautiful when you don't smoke for a full day and then,if you light one,you can feel that little rush in your head (as larry said above). Reality is that our human nature push all of us to screw up everything. We are unable to use evrything in the right way. Some month ago i tried the vaporized ones..but is not the same thing, obviously. And..i'm not so sure that in 5-10 years, possibly we'll fpund out that this type or liquid tobaccos are just like or worst then real cigarettes..it would not be the first time that the cure results worst that the malady. What i'm trying to do,is to learn how to control myself and no to screw up something that i like to do. But don't always it works,obviously..

Please don't think that nicotine on its own is completely harmless. It is not. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4363846/Nicotine is known to have serious systemic side effects in addition to being highly addictive. It adversely affects the heart, reproductive system, lung, kidney etc. Many studies have consistently demonstrated its carcinogenic potential. In fact, it used to be an insecticide. Nicotine is one of the most toxic of all poisons and has a rapid onset of action. Apart from local actions, the target organs are the peripheral and central nervous systems. Just don't want people making the mistake that nicotine alone is some safe haven for its own drug addiction.

I never said they are safe. I said they are better than smoking. I think everyone agrees on that. It also depends on what kind of liquid you use. Some are worse then others. Like everything there is risk. If it can help you get off cigarettes then it has value. I had a plan which was quit smoking by vaping (tried everything else) while trying to lose 20 lbs. It is very hard to lose weight while quiting smoking. Once I do that ( about half way there) I will try and quit the vaping. So I am trying to kill two birds with one stone.
On a side note I went for run Sunday which I have not done and years and could breath. I am way out of shape for running but man it was like night and day.

To run is something that i can't do. Simply. If you give me a ball (for soccer or,much more better, for basket) i can run and jump and break my back until i spit out one lung or my whole heart. I could die on a field, cause to give everything is the only way i know to honor the sport i'm doing. (my idol as football player was Edgar Davids..to clear out of what i'm talking about )...but i can't run just to run. Is something i could not do even when i was a little boy. I know that is a great thing to do (especially when you reach the 30 years),but i need some immediate goal to reach,to find the strenght to move my a$$.

I'll run if a cop is chasing me.... but that's about it No mate!! All wrong!! You have to stop suddenly, staying absolutely quiet and breathing slower as you can. And then wait. They can see you only if you make a move!! Just as the t-rex.

How do you know that?
Like I said vaping should be a means to a end. Cigarettes are not. Big difference.
I played my first league golf tonight and would have smoked at least 10 cigs. I also would have probably relasped if it wasn't for the JUUL. It's working for what I want it to do.

Over here the NHS are considering prescribing Vapes to people with obesity as a means to satisfy their sweet craving. They'd hardly be doing that if they thought it was harmful. No one is saying nicotine is healthy but as a drug on its own it's no worse than caffeine.

In light of recent findings... and some deaths.... bumping this back up for further discussion now that we know a little more.
Evidently Vitamin E acetate oil is an issue along with the other chemicals involved.
Curious if this new info has changed any hearts (pun intended for those who get it) and minds?
