Not started on this properly yet but at least I have found some working Lidar data for it now so I have a height-mapped plot up and running at least. Real Club Valderrama WebsiteMy other projects may go on hold now though as I've wanted to do this course for ages

60% mapped out on OSM now.
It certainly makes things so much quicker and easier when the best quality image background on OSM matches up with the Lidar data fairly well. For this course I'm assuming it's because both the background image and the Lidar data are both under the same name - "PNOA Spain"

Getting there slowly but surely. Got all the holes mapped out, just some more bunkers and all the cosmetic stuff after that

Found more info and details about some of the changes they have made to the course during their major "restoration project" they have undertaken over the last few years. Unfortunately it would appear that the imagery I traced out on OSM initially was a bit out of date (in a lot of places at least), which is a shame as the OSM imagery I traced from matched up with the Lidar data I had almost perfectly in terms of positioning so I didn't really need to do any messing about in terms of adjusting it to match the terrain (like seems to happening most of the time). At least it explains why I couldn't work out how certain things seemed slightly "off" in one place but then exactly right somewhere else only a few feet away when I have been working on it and checking measurements etc.....had me confused on more than one occasion I can tell you ;D Luckily a lot of the changes don't really affect the actual layout at all. They were things like new irrigation and sprinkler systems and completely re-laying all the cartpaths (ok I have had to shift them about slightly in places but no biggie), also changing to and laying down new types of grass for all the rough and greens etc. However there have been significant changes or adjustments to the sizes of the greens, some of the bunkers and how some of the fairways are cut / shaped which does mean I have to make quite a lot of changes to what I already have in place. It's fairly straightforward to do, it just all takes time if I want it to be right (which of course I do). Anyway, I may have a few more WIP pics to show you possibly later tonight. Oh btw there are a couple of quite interesting videos on their website showing some of what they have been doing for anyone interested

Doesn't actually look like a huge amount has changed on this overhead shot compared to the previous one but there has I can assure you More to come.

I'll just copy my reply from a thread on the HB forums as an update for this course Hardly done anything on either of them recently due to an issue I was having with lidar courses playing havoc with my cpu usage and temperature when in the designer It wasn't just the standard "lidar lag" thing that makes the designer slow etc, that I can handle, this was something else entirely that just started happening all of a sudden. It was making it almost impossible to get anything done because I would have to just save and exit constantly to stop the cpu from overheating..... so in the meantime I have been working on another new non-lidar course whilst I figured out what was causing the problem. I have figured out what the issue was now, at least I think I have anyway - it seems as though it was all the measuring marker points and lines I had all over the plot that I was using for various things that were causing the cpu to go crazy, well those combined with the extra load that lidar puts on it as well of course. Once I got rid of those it pretty much went back to normal (ish) so fingers crossed things should be ok providing I keep the measuring tool under control Anyway I have started working on them again this last few days (more so on Valderrama to be fair) so hopefully I may have some more updates for you soon. I know this isn't the Valderrama thread but here's a couple of early morning pics of the 4th hole which I am working on at the moment.

Was just wondering about this one! I did see you saying about all your CPU issues, but had forgotten, and was like "has this guy given up on it, or is he just being lazy??" This was looking real good when you last updated us. One of the best designers making a classic real life course. Get it done! Any estimate for release?

I had typed out an extensive reply with examples of some of the stuff I had come up against whilst doing this course (including pictures ! ), but then either the site or maybe just my browser crashed and it all went poof ! and I can't be arsed to re-do it The short answer is hopefully not too much longer providing the cpu issue stays away. I reckon I am about 70% done with the playable aspect of the course - it's all in place it just needs fine tuning...…..and about 50% done with the overall environment cosmetic stuff - that shouldn't take too long (that's if I have enough plant meter left to do it ) *Edit Plus I'm also trying to find time to play some of the awesome courses that just keep coming out recently...…."all work and no play" etc.
