Formby is a great course and so is Formby Ladies which is the course inside of it. I hope you can recreate the heather and gorse sufficiently. It's only about 45 minutes from where I live
Will be interested to see how this goes. Depending on the initial import course file size, the designer lag time while building/editing everything else can be significant. Hopefully that's no the case here though!
Have you guys tried separating the terrain and the features and planting in flat mode? Is that a useful way to help reduce the lag for all but the final touches/terrain touches?
Check out the thread with instructions on how to reduce lag here:
I am planning to get into it later today too but go ahead buddy. I imported the lidar but I’m not sure I have it right so putting the map on it will help.
Why? I just kinda dig the look of the place. :-) seems like my wheelhouse and could be fun. Thoughts?
Oh yes. I've heard lots of good things about Formby and always wanted to play it but never been able to as yet.

Reeb, To help you out I've started mapping the course out in OSM although if you would rather do it yourself then just let me know.
Andy
I'm looking at some pics and google maps too so I will be modifying things a little here and there so don't freak out.
There will be no freaking out here so nothing to worry about on that front . I've played the course numerous times and it's less than an hour from me so if you need any help or photos getting or anything like that then just let me know and I'll be more than happy to help out.
Gotcha. If you could take a peek at google maps too...it’s not easy to find the latest data as there are bunkers and fairway that seem to be different.
sroel908: And as someone who's rangered/scheduled hundreds of courses, trying out a wide range of conditions, I can say with certainty that green speeds do have an impact and definitely matter.

sroel908: Green firmness is more about how the ball interacts with the putting surface when you hit an approach into it. A soft green is more receptive, and will allow more backspin than a firm one. A firm green will have less bite and more rollout.

meunier33: I have seen 135 greens that putt like they are 170. Therefore, we can conclude that green speed does not matter.

meunier33: Why isn't there a green firmness meter on the score bug? Green firmness matters much more than green speed.

meunier33: I still play this game like it was the game before 2K21. Up until this month I have never tried to change anything about how I play the game. It has made me worse trying to adapt also.

OldManGaming606: The biggest swing adjustment and best for competitive golf IMO, was 2k21 and addition of tempo.

Art Vandelay: each time the game has been issued (TGC, TGC2, TGC19, etc) the game play changes. Some more than others. You have to adapt. Or go away, like some have.

Wutpa: I think a lot of people here have figured out what your problem is, and it's not what you think it is.

meunier33: EG the best swing used to be hard and low and not a high swing like it is now.

meunier33: Im finally figuring out what my problem is though. I play the game like it used to work 4 or 6 years ago and I have trouble adjusting to how it now plays

zooby97: Is that all meunier33 does is COMPLAIN? Will you please ditch the game so I don’t have to see the complaints anymore, wow!
