Hard to say right now how the Bruins will do. Looks like the defense should still be top notch even though the names are changing. Offense is still who knows at this point. First three games and last two were polar opposites, but if they fall somewhere in the middle after 56 games they should be fine. Getting Pastrnak back in the next few weeks certainly won't hurt.
The division could be interesting as you've got Boston, Pittsburgh, and Washington all as long time elite teams who could decline any day now or still be good for another couple seasons. Philly seems like a good team that could still be improving. The Islanders are an easy team to forget about but they should be solid but likely not great. Buffalo will probably be their usual looks better on paper than on the ice selves. The Rangers and Devils are building teams who could take that next step any day now or still have a couple more seasons of growing pains.
Top 4 feels like it should be Boston, Philly, Pittsburgh, and Washington but it seems possible that any of the 8 teams does have a shot at making the playoffs. In the playoffs I'd be worried about Washington. They've owned the Bruins for years now. If the Bruins make the playoffs and someone else takes care of Washington I could see a third or fourth round as possible. That being said I could also see them finishing 5th and missing the playoffs entirely.

I wish the 2 games at Lake Tahoe where allowing fans, I’d be there in full Philly gear. It’s going to be an incredibly beautiful setting with the rink on the 18th fairway of Edgewood Tahoe golf course overlooking the lake. And I’d get to see my Flyers lose to the Bruins. Again. Smh.
Hopefully they bring it back here when fans are allowed.

Even though the Bruins are 4-0 against them I'm getting tired of the Flyers already, which I expected would become a problem with 8 games against every team and possibly 7 more in the playoffs. Can't help but think the playoff races are going to be dull as well since most divisions are already seeing two or three teams seperating themselves from the pack.

All good, I’m tired of the Bruins too (bc we can’t seem to beat them lol). Flyers have been pretty sloppy defensively. Our power play has been abysmal going back to last season’s playoffs as well. They need to fix those two areas if we’re really going to compete with the elite teams.

Doesn't seem to matter how much the rosters change over the years you know a Bruins/Rangers game will almost always end up being a low scoring, one goal affair.

An idea of how my Wild are playing lately: They scored 3 goals tonight and 9 different players had points. The unit is buzzing right now in MN. I love how they’re playing. Constant pressure, guys are skating with so much confidence right now. It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Wild team this dangerous

I've never been so excited to have my team acquire a 2 goal scorer. I've been wanting to see Hall as a Bruin since the 2010 draft, so I hope it works out. Sounds like he thought he was going to sign with the Bruins this past offseason and that he used his NMC to force Buffalo into accepting the best Boston was willing to offer. I'm glad Bjork should get a fresh start and better opportunity as a Sabre but I'm not exactly sad to see him go.

Lol Too bad the Bruins have 6 games against the Sabres over the next 3 weeks. I guess Buffalo can play the spoiler but they've yet to give any indication they're good enough for that.

Lol What's going on with the Flyers this season, anyway? At the start of the year I would have listed them as my most confident pick to make the playoffs in the East Division but they've seemed pretty awful. Is it mostly goaltending or does it go much deeper than that?

I was reading an article from the Philadelphia Inquirer that insinuated that a number of their better players may still be recovering from COVID effects. For the Rangers, Mika Zibanejad contracted COVID before training camp opened. After scoring 41 goals in 57 games last season, Zibanejad had 2 goals through 19 games. He was literally terrible for two months. It's only since last month when he started playing better - back to a level near where he was last season. The anecdote here is that COVID can really have a huge impact on performance. The article talks about the Flyers' offensive numbers, but bad offense is either caused by the same factors that cause poor defense, or is the direct cause itself. Hard to distinguish between the two. Just from the games they played against the Rangers, there were tons of sloppy turnovers that led to A+ scoring chances - breakaways, 2-on-0s, open men right in front. The goalies haven't been good either. The Flyers are a mess right now. Here's that article: www.inquirer.com/flyers/flyers-season-collapse-penguins-jeff-carter-20210414.html

From that article (thanks for linking it btw)
“ Coach Alain Vigneault was asked about playing more young players, like winger Wade Allison, among others. *He danced around the question*, saying his focus was on getting the team to rebound from a disastrous stretch.”
Coach is part of the problem too. It’s his job to get results from this team by any means possible.
He’s lucky the pandemic had limited nerfed attendance at home games otherwise he and the entire team would be booed all the way over the Walt Whitman Bridge. It would be deafening.
