Taking a moment here to honor the greatest player to ever wear the Winnipeg Jet sweater. Dale Hawerchuk. As we all know he lost his battle with stomach cancer today and the hockey world loses an icon and a city mourns. RIP Ducky, you will be missed. As the late great Don Whitman once said; “Thanks for the Memories”! 10 Great player and guy. We loved him in Philly too.

Congrats to the Yotes. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought to utter those words considering I’m a Winnipegger lol But really, excellent work there to knock off the preds. Now, go back to sucking in the playoffs ok? Thanks! 😊👍 Was that sucky enough for you?

Well goddamn it after I promoted Darcy as a brilliant goalie he puts together two absolutely absymal performances in games 4 and 5. At least it was house money and we had nothing to lose.

I'm glad they're back to reseeding teams each round as I've missed that the last few years. Now instead of knowing the Bruins would face one of two teams in round 2 right from the start the possibility still exists for them to face any of the remaining teams except for Montreal. It makes the other 1st round series more interesting to follow since they have relevance to who my team faces in round 2. Much more fun this way, in my opinion.

To spice things up even more top seeds should be able to pick who they want to play....it'll never happen but would make great media and trash talk.

This 1st round was certainly different from last years when so many of the higher seeds were knocked out. Only two upsets this year happened to involve the last two Cup champs. Remember when this started and there was concern that the qualifying teams would have an unfair advantage over the round robin teams since they'd already played meaningful games? Guess that worked out the same as the concern Edmonton and Toronto would have an unfair advantage playing at home. Should be a really good rest of the playoffs since we have so many legit elite teams still playing.

Flyers need to wake the hell up. Islanders have been skating circles around us in this series. Defense has been crap, transition to break out of the zone has been horrendous and the offense has been anemic. That’s a lot of thing to fix but they need to get on it and win today. But if they don’t, I still have VGK to root for

I’ll admit I’ve had a tough time getting that emotionally invested in this. It’s nice to see hockey again, and I’ve watched all the Bruins games but it just feels so disassociated from the regular season to me.

I'm glad sports are back, but the feeling is just different. I am glad I didn't get emotionally invested because my Pens stunk!

Anybody feeling confident we'll see a massive offseason with lots of big name players traded or will they just end up as the usual huge rumours that never amount to anything?
I know from a Bruins stand point most of the stuff I'm hearing just doesn't make any sense and would seem like making a trade just for the sake of making a trade.

Have been watching the games but can't say I'm all that hyped about hockey being back because the format, while necessary just feels so dumb. That being said I couldn't not mention the Columbus/Winnipeg trade today because it seems about as blockbuster as you're going to see. First impression from me is that Winnipeg came up on the short end but at 22 both Laine and Dubois still haven't reached their peaks so things can change if Dubois becomes a 90-100 point center or Laine tops out as a consistent 30 goal scorer who doesn't play much defense. I think we need to hear from titaneddie on this one.

First take...Hate it.
Now admittily Ive probably only watched maybe 10 blue jackets games so I'll have to reserve more judgment until I see more of Dubois.
The bigger problem seems to be leadership in the room and Maurice allowing it to happen. Rumours (based of a convo I had with one of the local radio guys who does jets pre game shows) indicated that scheif and wheeler aren't exactly the "great guys" they're made out to be and may of had a hand in pushing Laine out. Report out of Finland also mentioned this.
I think Laine undeniably has the higher ceiling. He's a big kid so if he grows into that frame and adds the power forward game to go with that shot he's going to be a menace.
Short term it probably does make the jets a better team. Still, guys with that "star" power like Laine don't come around too often, and to ship him out at 22 seems like it could be a colossal mistake. PLD is going to be under serious pressure to perform.
Other than that enjoying the season. Although the schedule is wacky to say the least I'm enjoying the Canadian division. Watching games I normally wouldn't.
Boffo, you think Boston has big run in them this year?
