Nevermind. Both Edmonton and Pittsburgh in the draw for 1st overall. The only question now is which of those two wins it. The other 6 teams shouldn't even waste their time being excited about the possibility anymore.

Team finishes in the top 40% of the standings, gets 1st overall and a generational player. Seriously, how many generational players are needed in Edmmonton before they start winning? Teams like Florida, Minnesota and Columbus would like a shot.
At least the Rangers got a #2 after last season. And Kakko looked like a different player during the qualifiers - a very young Alexei Kovalev - so that was at least a small positive out of the obliteration.

Congrats to the Yotes. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought to utter those words considering I’m a Winnipegger lol But really, excellent work there to knock off the preds. Now, go back to sucking in the playoffs ok? Thanks! 😊👍

I'm OK with the Rangers getting 1st overall as they were middle of the pack on my list of preferred winners. Never had a 1st overall pick in the modern history of the draft and have gone about their rebuild in the more honourable way without fully tanking for two or three years hoping they can stockpile top picks.

So, one of them will need to play the other side. For now, this could look: Kreider-Zibanejad-Kakko Lafreniere-Strome-Panarin Chytil-Kravtsov-Buchnevich Lemieux-Howden-Gauthier Some things need to be done at center, and the depth pieces need to get better. That probably can't happen until the Lundqvist, Staal and Smith contracts expire.

If Ottawa offered #3 and #5 for #1 would you do it? No. The Rangers have a plethora of highly-touted prospects. A greater number of prospects isn't a Rangers need. They need top-end talent, and they need to modify positional depth. They need a 2C and some better board play, both of which could be acquired by using future assets. There's also the possibility that Chytil grows into that 2C role. I like Howden as 4C who can kill penalties. I like Lemieux as a bottom 6 winger. I think the odd-man-out here is Buchnevich. I think he could be exchanged for someone like Buffalo's Sam Reinhardt, even if the Rangers throw in a pick to make a deal happen. Maybe that move can't happen until 2021.

My goodness the Flyers power play has been the definition of anemic. Wth. Alain Vigneault. Definitely needs to get just a little more creative. Try some thing different, like some movement would help.

Taking a moment here to honor the greatest player to ever wear the Winnipeg Jet sweater. Dale Hawerchuk. As we all know he lost his battle with stomach cancer today and the hockey world loses an icon and a city mourns. RIP Ducky, you will be missed. As the late great Don Whitman once said; “Thanks for the Memories”! 10
