Don't sleep on the Yotes, they are going under the radar a bit, but cannot doubt the young studs the wingers and centers such as Clayton Keller, Taylor Hall, Connor Garland and Christian Dvorak paired with the grizzled vets of Phil Kessel, Carl Soderberg, and company.
Defense is a bit thin Ekman Larsson and Goligoski are solid but the lack of depth is concerning,
As a goalie, Kuemper is one of the best in the business and is overall underrated.
They could make noise this year

With the unusual format and the fact no one has played a game in 4 1/2 months I don't think I'd sleep on anyone. I wouldn't bet on a 9-12th seeded team winning the Cup but it wouldn't surprise me at all if we saw one or two make it into the traditional second and maybe even third round.

I think Nashville has a slightly better than 50/50 chance to move on after today's result, but you never know what will happen in the next couple games. I've been quite happy with the quality of hockey they've played since that disastrous first period in game 1, so if they can keep that up, they should be able to advance. The big question for me tomorrow is whether Saros and Kuemper make their 3rd start in 4 days -- I believe both of them will, in particular Kuemper because of Raanta's apparent injury, but I'm curious to see what the coaches decide.

My post didn’t age well either. 😞 The Jets... well it could be 4 still but that would mean we are out! Lol I just can’t believe how snake bit they are when it comes to injuries on this team. But Poolman is trooper I tell ya! To take that slapper in the face, and still come back leaking under that swollen , broken face is a testament to this guys character. Tons of heart! Hers hoping he’s ok and also here’s hoping with get back Schiefle and Laine for game 4. We are gonna need them.

I'm fairly confident my team will be in the next round. I'm less confident after that.

Just a question for those of you who are a fan of a team in the qualifying round, especially those who are doubtful their team has a solid shot at the Cup. Would you prefer to see your team win their qualifying round and then get eliminated in the first or second round, or lose in the qualifying round and have a 1 in 8 chance at the first overall draft pick?

Only cause who knows how long Scheif and Laine are out id take the chances of grabbing that #1.
Even if we somehow come back VS the flames we have no shot without those 2 of going further.

Lose in the qualifier over the first or second round, absolutely. To me, a first-round loss is just about the worst possible outcome. As it pertains to the Preds, I feel like their Cup chance is about 1% right now. On the other hand, they have about a 9% chance at the #1 pick (0.75 * 12.5%). So while I don't love another year going by with these core players failing to make a run at the Cup, Lafreniere would be a nice consolation prize.

Flyers with a shot at #1 seed. Crazy.

From November: ...the Rangers are about where I expected them to be and are the type of team I expected: high-scoring, poor defensive playoff-bubble team, at best, with notable improvement in the 2nd half. I don't see that changing much until 2021. Nothing has changed here. Their lack of depth and weak defense was completely exposed by Carolina. I still think next year, they'll be a bubble team again with similar roster construction.
