I practiced a lot before playing a tourney round, and of course it is "smart" to make it count with better playing conditions or when you are simply playing better. Sometimes I can't break par with no wind, some days I play 13 under with 13 mph winds. I start on Sunday or Monday, practice, practice, practice, and in the next few days when I play a practice round that is good, I feel good, wind hopefully not too high, then I go for it. I am sure a lot of you do the same thing. Call it wind waiting if you like, but it is "smart playing." Smart I say, not cheating, not immoral, not taking advantage, it is simply playing a video game the best you can.
The day HB helps us play on the exact same level playing field with wind, I am sure everyone will be just fine with that. But in the meantime, have fun and play your best however you do that. If I get a 5 mph wind in a round, I never think I am cheating, I am simply trying to level the playing field so I can compete. If you don't want to compete, then when you tee-off and you have a 20 mph wind and you don't like it, just keep playing. It is your choice. No one who plays in a 10 mph wind or lower made you do it.
As for this weeks tourney, I played in 8-17 mph winds and I must say I practiced more for this course than any other week. I would have loved to had lower winds but they just never seemed to come up. So once I felt good, I went for it. Shot 62, 63, 61, 64. Funny thing is my last round 64, my worst round, was in the lowest winds I had. Shot a -15 in high winds during practice. What it comes down to for me is getting use to the greens. You never hit all fairways, you never get close to all holes, but with a ton of practice on greens, you start to roll more of them in.
Practice makes for great rounds % wise, not lower winds. I think most all the top players would agree with that statement. Not that I am a top player myself, but I sure am trying to be.

Gave it a shot, had 12-17mph winds which wasn't the problem. Putting was. Still getting used to the brace and a -4 was 4 shots short of what i needed to make the cut.
Good luck all!

The fact is, i consider myself a top 25 golfer on any playing field. In high winds your putts are gonna be longer by the %. I dont give a sh%$ about how long of a paragraph we can all write about it. I simply stated HB needs to fix it, or I suggested we turn wind meter off to even it out. The guys on the pga are plenty good enough to play with wind meter off. And believe it or not you can still tell a little what the wind is doing just by listening.

You can get a general idea of how strong the wind is as well as the direction relative to your position

I agree and it still shows us which way its going just not the strength of the wind. I just think it would even it out alot if a guy has to play in high wind conditions vs some1 who isnt. Because the person with 5 mph winds really (but doesnt know its 5 mph) wont be knocking it near as stiff every hole trying to guess the mph of wind.

Turning off the wind meter does nothing but make the game a little more difficult for everyone, the wind waiters will still wind wait.
there are also times when the flag is missing from the pole, so if you are in a low vegetation area, you are kinda screwed, and that's just not realistic imo, as a real round you always have a general idea of wind strength and direction.

Yeah.. I have seen that, where the flag is missing.. Which won't help at all coz it happens quite a lot

One simple solution, and it is consistent to real golf, is for HB to create an animation with a click of a button that has your character pinch some grass and toss it into the air to check wind. Hot Shots Golf does this and it works great! Then we can turn off the wind speed gauge and figure out wind more naturally. This way you can check wind with all your shots and it does not take up much time. Click controller button and character-grass scenario plays out in one second.

Shot -14 and -11 in rd 3 and 4 to finish at -47. Very happy with my score, but got totally screwed by a rake on 4th round. Ball wedged under it, took 2 shots to get out and finished with double bogey. Those rakes are ridiculous! Might have to start a petition to get rid of them!

Up on a sponsor's exemption from the Web.com, and it looks like I still need a bit more work. My 67-63 for -14 looks to be at least one, and likely two shots short. Looks like I'll be headed back to the Web.com, and possibly trying for the European Tour next time I get a sponsor's exemption...

If you are going to try Euro Tour next time, might I suggest Lion's Gate CC in two weeks...for...reasons.

Missed my 2nd cut...this course really shows its teeth in 13-16mph winds. Thought I still should have made the cut, and probably would have if I played 1 practice round first to get a feel where the ball would land in those winds...but I hit about 6 fairways and 8 greens in my first round and it was over. Actually was happy with my -10 in round2 which was a good score I felt with the conditions.

I got very fortunate with the wind. It wasn't that bad tonight and it helped me. Started at 6mph and got up to 10 or 11 at times. Shot 64 then 61. I think the course is tricky in spots. The competition is getting fierce. Followed a ghost ball on turn based and that dude was chipping in all over the place.

Work was very busy this week and any time I could play, the wind blew hard. -15, missed cut. Round 3 & 4 I shot 60, 59 that were wiped away. I'm finding this most discouraging at not playing equal conditions. Hope HB comes up with a fix.
