-5 second round (7 birdies, 2 bogeys)
Overall a great round. Lot of downhillers I was lagging dropped. 3 putt bogey on 18th spoiled it a little.
Sitting -5 at the hypothetical cut line.

Rough round (literally) of +2. Some mental mistakes not checking the map, some difficult pin placements (hole 9 or 10 comes immediately to mind), bad aiming off the tee, and just couldn’t read the green on a lot of putts. Not sure if the course was difficult or I just played crappy.

PC version isn't up yet. I figure you guys are busy, just making sure it wasn't an oversight. Set it up yesterday morning, not sure what happened there. It's up now, thanks for letting me know Josia. Had a busy day watching golf and drinking beer today, tournament leaderboards and standings up tomorrow. Will be running a new season 2 thread also. Thank you again for all your hard work making this society workable across all 3 platforms. Yeoman's work no doubt, and probably under-appreciated! Cheers.

R2 went -3, had an ok start but then a just terrible double bogey.
I don’t think there’s a worse feeling in this game then playing a putt to break just a little bit cause you’re paranoid that it won’t be straight, and it ends up going dead straight and you miss.

I fear I will bring up last place on this one guys. I hit the ball ok in the fairways, but I had a ton of trouble with these greens!

I think I’d seriously rather just have a putt that is clearly breaking, so I don’t overthink and imagine break on straight putts. I wish sometimes you could look at the replay and put the grid on, to see what the hell it actually looked like!

Round 1: (2 birdies, 6 bogies) +4 I rather enjoy Merion, just wish they could have the wicker baskets on the flagsticks. ChipsforAces, we have an opportunity presented to us by the gracious JosiaDB. C'mon and get some! Onward!

One of my problems in putting, is that about 85% of the time, I pull my ball slightly to the left. I know this, so a lot of times I compensate for that, especially on the short putts. but what gets you is on a 6-8 ft putt, when I compensate for that slight pull, and and then either I hit it actually straight, or the ball don't break like I think its going to. On faster greens, like this week, it really happens a lot, because the faster it is, the less the ball breaks. ....I think. LOL

I know that feeling, I sometimes push to the right. What gets me a lot of times is when it appears straight from the behind the hole view, but when looking at the front view zoomed down at the ball/feet, the green will appear sloped a bit right to left where the ball is. I adjust and it goes totally straight lol. Of course it doesn’t help matters when my idiot golfer has his putter angled for some reason. Hmmm...my interpretation is the faster the green, the more it will break. This being because you have to putt it slower or else run it by the hole 15 feet. Slower the putt, more the chance to break. Whereas on a slow green, you can more safely blast it and avoid some of the break so it will go straighter. I don’t know if this is right though lol

The faster the green the more break you have to allow for. The slower the green the harder you hit the ball and the faster the ball travels the less it breaks. That's why downhill side hill putts are the toughest in the game and in real life, you can't hit them through the break like an uphill putt.

maybe thats why I am doing bad! I might be thinking about it backwards, when on faster greens, and not adjusting enough, where I should be adjusting more!

Yes make sure you give more break to downhill over uphill also. The ball breaks quicker off the putter head with downhill putts because you have to hit them much more softly, even more so on faster greens.

This coming from a hack, but I usually adjust more for downhill putts and the quicker they are the more I adjust. Again, advice from a hack so take it for what it's value may or may not be.
