You know, we need some type of badge or graphic that says this. I think it takes some guts to play the game the way we play it and we should be proud to show it.

Sooooo, a week or two ago I raged quit in the midst of a meltdown (controller/swing issues). I let my "temper-tantrum" get the best of me and deleted a few societies, forgetting that this one is by request/approval only. I've since purchased a new controller (huge difference) and have submitted to re-join (again), if the powers that be will allow me back in. If not, I understand. thx, Shawn GreyOsprey PS4 At a real golf tournament right now but will accept your rejoining request when I get a chance.

congrats, Art Vandelay on a fine game! You may not realize it since you played before me on R4, but we were neck and neck, and at one point I had pulled within one stroke of you! You turned it on in the back nine and pulled away, but then tried to make it a game again there at the very end. We may not win the tournament, but we give the crowd a good show!
rock on!

And that's why I give the ultimate kudos to everyone who plays here. Gavlaar is the number 1 golfer on this game at the moment in my eyes. Not somebody who plays with aids on to make the game easier(no disrespect to those that do) . This tour is about everyone who enjoys the real game and respects how difficult it is, I get a buzz from our higher handicappers who love this society because that is why I brought in the handicap leaderboard. I played a tournament today at Luton Hoo a course that hosted a tournament just before we tee'd off. The toughest pins I'd ever played... 8 times out of 10 you just couldn't go for the pin as you had absolutely no green to work with. Wow can't believe how tough it was. Hit 32 putts today on tough greens so happy with that, after a 2nd and 3rd on my 1st 2 tournaments a 30th and 23rd todayy have brought me down earth. Dropped down from 3rd on our standing table today😔

I have a strategy question-
How do you guys decide where to aim on your approach shot? Like with me, I just basically aim for just short of the pin and hope it rolls towards it, or the middle of the green and try to rely on putts. Because with no scout cam, I have no idea how the green lays, so I don't know whether to hit to the left or of it. Sometimes I watch that initial fly over, but it goes so fast I can't really tell much about the green unless it has a tier.
Any pointers from you top flight guys?

Check the overhead and see much green you have to work with. It all depends how long your approach is also. I don't go for the pin if it is tucked away. I spent a hour today on the putting green before my real life tournament,, holed 3 20 footers in a row and holed a 50 foot putt on my 1st attempt. Holed my first 30 foot chip shot and fluffed the next that's how irratic my short game is off the green. I know my putting is the strongest part of my game but off the green I lose confidence . I spent 50 minutes before my round practicing chips with my SW up to 8i and my short game was super solid today. I amazingly hit a pure 8 iron 179 yards today, downwind but 179 yards guys 😁 What I love is this video game gives you the opportunity to work on the weak points of your game just like real life😁

If you don't have time for a practice rd, then the fly by hole preview before each hole could be useful.

But even if I did do a practice round.... for those of you that do practice rounds... do you make notes?
I mean... I can't even remember what a green layed like from 3 holes ago, much less a whole round! LOL

I’m definitely not a smart player, so don’t really take this as advice. I don’t look at fly overs ever, cause well...I just don’t have time for that lol. I pretty much just do what you described and hack away, aiming at the hole (or where I think is at the hole) and hope for the best. I will at least look at the map though, to see if I notice a very obvious slope. I at least want to know if I land short, if there’s a potential to roll back 25 feet and make me want to smash the controller. Other than that, I just take into account the green settings for distance and shoot. I’ve given up trying to get cute shooting 95% or whatever (other than on chips and flops) because it always backfires where I do something stupid like a fast upswing or choke and shoot 85%. If I’m in between clubs shooting 100, I’ll just deal with the long putt. I shot very well this week, and my biggest change really was just being more careful with the putts, especially the dreaded short downhill. Even if it costs me a possible birdie, I’ll baby it as much as I can to avoid a 3 putt (or worse!). I don’t do practice rounds, like you said in the other post, you’re not going to remember anything anyway so what’s the point lol. Hell I drove short and into the sand 3 times on hole 1, never remembering where to aim and repeating the same mistake. What’s a practice round gonna do!

E first round (3 birdies, 3 bogeys) at Merion.
As for that above questions and advice: I never bother with practice rounds, I do watch the flyover at least for the first round. Unless there is a hazard, better short with an uphill chip & putt then a long downhill putt. My mindset is always play for a safe par first, and take the birdies as they come.

PC version isn't up yet. I figure you guys are busy, just making sure it wasn't an oversight.

Had a busy day watching golf and drinking beer today, tournament leaderboards and standings up tomorrow. Will be running a new season 2 thread also.
