Went to a Yankees game a couple of years ago, bases loaded home run was scored - the excitement peaked to about the level of Somerset v Hampshire cricket match on a rainy April morning. That's going to be subject to quite a bit of circumstance: Who were they playing? What time of year was it? What was the score at that time? If Gary Sanchez had hit a grand slam last night with the Yankees trailing 4-2 in the 9th inning of a must-win playoff game against the Boston Red Sox, their most-hated rival, the place would have gone bonkers, akin to Etihad when Sergio Aguero won the Premiership for Man City. |

Just pulling at a few legs Patrick  I had a good time really - chatted to a really nice local next to me all game long - but did find the sporting atmos a little lacking. Which imho can affect these stop/start sports - as much as it has it's flaws, football is the most popular for a reason, it flows, ebbs, churns, flips & soars, mostly constantly. |

Will watch most sports majors - football, golf, cricket, tennis, F1. Currently loving Grand Tour cycling... possibly for obvious reasons. Used to be really fanatical about most US sports when I was a kid - but the adverts killed me off & I stopped watching those in the late 90's. Been a football fan since a very young lad when I used to watch Alan Ball's blue army stroll into battle like gods. Also seen them win an FA Cup, when we had Harry The Bastard as manager. @!$# that man. His dubious methods did win us a cup tho. But shortly after saw us completely implode financially - from which, we're still recovering. We're on fire with Kenny Jacket this year tho... maybe looking forward to a trip across to Ashton Gate next year Jamie... Visited quite a number of famous sporting mecca's around the world across a range of sports. I've taken my wife to two football games; Pompey v Millwall at Fratton Park... and Barcelona v Athletico Madrid in the Nou Camp... same sport - 2 very different experiences! Ha ha, I took my wife to see Bristol City against the mighty Notts County years ago, and also to the Nou Camp to see Barcelona v Validaloid (sp). She feel asleep in her seat at the Nou Camp! I've given up on her now and am working on my daughters instead See you next season if we stay up! |

Ah, AFL! I always forget it exists, but arena football is a neat concept! I was a fan of Columbus until they went defunct in 2008, now I just kinda watch whatever I can find haha

Ah, AFL! I always forget it exists, but arena football is a neat concept! I was a fan of Columbus until they went defunct in 2008, now I just kinda watch whatever I can find haha I don't think they're talking about Arena football Jacob, try Aussie Rules... 😂 Only in America could you get away with making a load of girls play a proper physical sport with pretty much no clothes on! Just because you can. |
