If you want a modern match-up in a part of the country that's a bit under represented in the other matchups, maybe Big Sky Country: Rock Creek Cattle Co. vs. Gozzer Ranch

Here's a list of every course that I listed in the Alternatives. Please add any others you would like to see, along with any potential matchups I have overlooked. I think I have an OK idea of how to go about choosing the final courses, and I will create a spinoff thread for that. For now this is strictly for brainstorming.
Misc/Alternative Courses Bandon Dunes Pacific Dunes Bandon Trails Old MacDonald San Francisco Golf Club Cypress Point Cal Club Aronimink Seminole Essex County Club Friar's Head Camargo Club Yale Prairie Dunes

Meh. I'd axe Hudson National. Sleepy Hollow has a similar setting along the river and is way more interesting.

For those who have expressed interest in the contest, it looks strongly like this will be slotted in a time period of roughly August to October. Does that timeframe make anyone more likely to participate, less likely, or doesn't really change anything?

My issue . Actually hi CLV haven’t seen you about In a while great to see you again!!
Ok my issue is currently we have
Griff 3 x designer comps and invicta 4 each quarter New it’s doing 1 to 2 per annum
Pandora is every 6 weeks
I was thinking doing one myself again but it’s to @!$#ing crowded and it’s a constant flow of comp courses that mute the other course baring the established designers.
I’ve looked at national treasure and every course looks great and there’s 20 plus . Mines the best I’ve ever done and it’ll be last 😂.
Anyway my point been let’s all the want to be tournament directors put your heads together and have a post tgc19 schedule for design comps and maybe break each comp in 2 for 1. Established designers and those that have never had a course on tour .
My 2 cents and btw Craig your comp No surprises looks like a winner aswell IMO as do the other ones to be fair

Q3 (if they're on time) would put it out July-Sept. range.

What I will say is please don't use my name or what I do in future rants. I was doing this back when NOBODY else was, Moe. That being said, if you want to host a contest then post it and run with it. Those that want to participate will.

I've talked with Griff and Nesbit about possible conflicts, and coming up with a schedule for future design competitions. For a traditional style design contest, August-October seems to be the only time there would be no overlap. With that said, I haven't fully committed to the idea of a traditional style design contest yet. I am trying to think outside of the box, and I have a different concept that I might try to flesh out and present here soon.

Ok, I think I am getting closer to creating a new thread and presenting something close to a final plan, but I just want to gauge feedback one more time.
Based on the initial go-round of feedback, it sounds like the idea of creating the course itself is the draw, as opposed to the competition against a field of other designers. This is good, because it seems more and more to me that the best place for this contest is not as a traditional contest with a field of 16 designers or so, but as an ongoing series of head-to-head, 1-on-1 matchups. What are the benefits of this format?
1. Only 2 designers are competing at once, maybe 4 if I do a small overlap in matchup timing, and only 2 courses are published at once. The courses get the plays they deserve, and the database isn't flooded with 16 courses at once. 2. The flexibility of this format allows designers to compete in the already existing series of design contests if they would like, without having to miss out on this one. If you know you will be competing in a design contest, just try to align your schedule to compete in a matchup here when you are done or have more time available. 3. Due to the 1-on-1 nature of the contest, everybody has a greater chance of notching a victory than they would against a field of 15 other designers. 4. Winners of their matchups can proceed later on to take on another matchup against other winners, while losers of their matchups, along with new designers, can continue to populate regular matchups, giving a wide range of designers the chance to compete. 5. Because of the ongoing nature of this format, course selection can be a lot easier, and international courses can more easily be added to the fold. EDIT - 6. Forgot about this one. This format should also help navigate the eventual transition to TGC 2019, whenever that happens. A 1-on-1 matchup makes it much easier to ensure that both designers are using the same version of the game, and because the courses are only judged against each other and not a field of courses, we won't have to worry about some being made in TGC2 and some in TGC 2019.
Drawbacks - The only one I can think of at the moment is that no one will get the thrill of defeating a field of 15 other contestants. You can satisfy your desire for competition, though, by going on to compete in a Masters matchup (think Top Chef Masters, not The Masters).
Please fire away with drawbacks, concerns, feedback, things you like, etc.

National treasure is my new favorite by a mile which I have said multiple times. My comment was ment for a structured approach to the comps and yes Griff you may or may not of been the original comp maker but you are defo the meter stick that all should be measured off. Think my last place in national treasure has just been confirmed 🤬. Love you griff you know that 😎😘😍

Does that timeframe make anyone more likely to participate, less likely, or doesn't really change anything? If we have the new game by then, this would be great!
