I’ll just leave this one here. Anyone else get this or is it just my ball that floats above the surface of the green until it’s past the hole without taking any break?

Dude, everyone gets ghost breaks/no breaks. Known and widespread issue that can be mitigated through looking at the gridlines and not the beads. Not much else can be said.

Watching on my phone but is the shadow not matching up? You're suggesting the physics has the ball floating above the break?

Watching on my phone but is the shadow not matching up? You're suggesting the physics has the ball floating above the break? Yeah. I've seen this. Sometimes (mainly on big right to left breakers for me) it floats above the green in a straight line for the first half of it's journey and then takes the break really really late. Another known issue. What Dave hopes to achieve by complaining about the same stuff each and every week i'm not sure. It happens to all of us, and it's not being fixed in this game. Either suck it up or don't play if it bothers you so much

I wish more people on my tour took a total of 5 seconds to read a putt.

I wish more people on my tour took a total of 5 seconds to read a putt. I don’t see the point in wasting time trying to line them up when the grids mean absolutely @!$# all anyway. Plus this wasn’t a tgc event it was a society round. Which I seem to have no problem playing well and competing in.

You are admitting you are a) Not using tools available to you and b) Get into your head with anger/frustration. Granted I do b a lot as well, so take with grains of salt. If this wasn't in a TGCT event, then why did you foreshadow this thread in the TGCT event thread for this week? I think many don't admit the pressure factor in TGCT rounds, even if its small, because at the higher levels you know you need a -10 or better on almost every course.

You look to have hit it a bit to hard, it looks to have run about 5 feet past but it’s finished near enough directly behind the hole in that case the pace was wrong.

Dave, this is the dreaded hover-putt phenomenon. I've had it plenty of times, and the best I can tell it has to be related to the spin mechanic glitch that also causes those ridiculous spinny chip shots. The ball basically skids across the surface, represented by the "hover" and takes zero break while doing so. Nothing you can do about that, unfortunately, with 100% accuracy. The times when I get them most seem to be when I am trying to hit a putt with a lot of pace - usually on longer putts or ones out of the fringe/fairway cut - but it isn't something I've been able to figure out will happen beforehand then prevent, just tough luck really.

I've always chalked this up to suspect physics. HB likely wanted to mimic how putts take less break near the start on longer putts because of so much weight. Problem is the mechanic can actually give zero for much longer than it should. The end of the putt is what I call the sudden gravity pull. You see it on your check up chips, the second bounce of your wedges, and then the third or fourth bounce of your longer clubs. The ball suddenly acts as if gravity just tripled and it gets sucked down into the ground and slows down a lot all at once.
