Dave, this is the dreaded hover-putt phenomenon. I've had it plenty of times, and the best I can tell it has to be related to the spin mechanic glitch that also causes those ridiculous spinny chip shots. The ball basically skids across the surface, represented by the "hover" and takes zero break while doing so. Nothing you can do about that, unfortunately, with 100% accuracy. The times when I get them most seem to be when I am trying to hit a putt with a lot of pace - usually on longer putts or ones out of the fringe/fairway cut - but it isn't something I've been able to figure out will happen beforehand then prevent, just tough luck really.
Thanks for the useful insight, nice to see an answer that doesnt imply that "im just sh%$ and need to stop whinging".

I’m sh%$ I hit it through the break most times and I know when I do it.

That's a really weird glitch. I've played TGC 1 & 2 for 2 years or so (PS4) and have never noticed this before!

Just looking at the slope I’d guess there was hardly any break in it to begin with add that with smashing it I’d see why it hung high. Worm cam is your friend bud I get bs breaks too it’s frustrating but there’s a lesson to be learned from every wtf moment lol

To add to the above statement a lot of the break in that putt is at the beginning so with the pace you hit it you took most all of the movement out of it. I find the break at the beginning of putts gets mitigated a lot if it’s going to have a good amount of pace unless it’s on a serious slope. None of this is to say you’re sh%$ just trying to help you understand a bit.

Yep, I’ve noticed them, more on PC than on XBox. Haven’t seen any pattern to it happening, and it doesn’t happen often. I’ve never had the chipping one I’ve seen others have.

It happened to me the last 2 rounds of Harbor Town this week. Believe me, I read every inch of the green before I putt. Was -14 the first round but after that any time I adjust above the hole slightly where I wanted it, the putt would not break and I would miss by a cup high. So I would tweak it next time but would miss low. I wanted to smash something I was so frustrated. It just seems something when haywire with the game lately. Odd wind effects, short hitting full shots, wedge distance and leaderboard malfunctions. Game’s broken

I havent had that happen to me, but i have putted on greens where it looks like there's no beads running from left to right, so i would of natually thought its a straight putt only to find after my ball as missed the cup to the right or left & then on my next shot those beads have all of a sudden appeared, not sure if this as happened to anyone else.

Yes, it happens to pretty much everyone.
What many do is to not worry at all about the beads, but line each grid line up with the bottom of the screen and go from each grid line between the ball and the hole. This gives a much more accurate read. You will see grid-lines that are tilting one way or the other but no beads are moving and see the breaks much better than simply relying on beads moving.

I’ll just leave this one here. Anyone else get this or is it just my ball that floats above the surface of the green until it’s past the hole without taking any break? I call those putts "skaters" because they seem to glide above the surface like putting on ice. I get them quite often on PC

Looked like a quick one-look at the beads (and trusting them which is never a good idea) then letting it rip.
Not saying that the bug didn't occur but the process to putt seemed a bit hurried as well.

Had 3 of these in the 1st two rounds of the US Open Qualifier. All 3 led to double bogies

Dude, everyone gets ghost breaks/no breaks. Known and widespread issue that can be mitigated through looking at the gridlines and not the beads. Not much else can be said. Maybe i'm just crazy, but the beads are literally the mechanic that is suppose to show you the break. My biggest issue with putting is that the beads seems to be going about 1/2 the speed they actually should be... If the beads are slowly moving on a 10 foot putt, Well I better aim at least 3 cups right and consistently it is 5-10 feet of break on every putt from 15-20 feet. This is insane. Hopefully it is addressed with the new ball physics in 2019. Can you explain looking at gridlines? Is that in the overhead view?
