Oh, I suppose this one deserves an update. I've mostly been working on this and the Ross Club. Sidenote: it looks like postimage is doing a crap job of retaining photos, and all of my pics have disappeared. I will have to check my computer at home and see if the pics are still there, and find a different place to upload them.
I have the Reverse Redan 2nd done, the Leven 3rd, Road Hole 4th, and Bottle 5th. The Long 6th is currently underway. A lot of work has also gone into the surrounds of the course, which is way more work than I anticipated for a flat plot in the middle of farmland.

Cool, may have to look into it just for the purpose of projects like this. Would love to redesign the crappy muni(s) where I grew up! Here is where you can still get the game for $7: linkscorner.org/The forum still looks active, so I assume the ability to buy the game is still active. The APCD is included in the installation. Somewhere buried deep in that forum are the instructions for getting the overhead shot into the game at the proper length dimensions so that you can use the measuring tool. I would have to make a deep dive to find it again, as I originally imported that overhead in probably 2013 or 2014, I would guess. can you import designs from that into TGC2 on PS4?

No. You can't import anything into TGC on any platform, as far as I know. I just used Links for sketching, and then I'm recreating by hand in TGC.

I suppose I could use print offs from Google Earth in the 3S format and then put all the coordinates on the print out and then do create by hand in the game.

Looks like my old pics crapped out. I will try to re-upload them at some point if I have the time. I just finished the front 9, and it's crazy to think, but this course probably has the most perimeter work to do of all the course I have done. The flat course plus farm/countryside setting means you can see forever. I would say what you see in these screenshots is probably 30% of the perimeter work done. #1 - Par 5 - Double Plateau #2 - Par 4 - Reverse Redan #3 - Par 4 - Leven

#4 - Par 4 - Road #5 - Par 4 - Bottle This hole has changed from the original sketch. I realized the approach shot was too short, negating the advantage for reaching the right side fairway, and I was also underutilizing a huge space in front of the clubhouse, so I pushed the green to the other side of the ditch. The right side fairway now clearly provides a better approach angle, and a shorter shot in. The green features a "buried elephant" in the middle. #6 - Par 5 - Long The Hell bunker The prominent ridge on the left side makes this an inverse replica of the 14th green at St. Andrews.

#7 - Par 3 - Eden #8 - Par 4 - UPDATE: This is an original hole and not a template, so I am giving it an original name: Tittabawassee. That is the river that runs through the nearby town, and the road that runs along the 15th, 17th, and 18th holes serves as the boundary for Tittabawasse Township (on the other side, the course is not in the township). #9 - Par 3 - Biarritz Front 9 Aerial

I don't know yet, I forget which settings I have been testing with. I'd prefer a firm and fast setup for a course like this. Greens are 166 at the moment. I would have to check on firmness when I get a chance. I always envision a medium setup and a firm setup, so there might be two versions. I don't think I would go much faster on the green speeds, though. Putting downhill on the Eden is already hard enough as is, so I had to soften my first build of it.

I can't get the APCD to download...keeps giving me an error and something about needing Administartive rights to download. I am starting to look at using some real courses as templates for my design (by no means an RCR). I would call these (If I pull them off) a very loose interpretation. Starting out with some of the Ivanhoe Golf Club (North of Chicago) holes. I am currently printing off copies from Google Earth and then marking out distances and measurements, then freehanding in course designer. Hopefully I can get them somewhat similar to the layouts.

I'm going to grab some screenshots tonight, hopefully, so this post serves as both an update and a reminder to myself I am through 16 holes, so I am very close to the course itself being done. The overall production may still be a long ways off, though. I never would have guessed it at the start of this course, but the perimeter work and details here might be the most I have ever done. While I continue to work on the details, I will be using the opportunity to playtest the holes to death, and hopefully make subtle adjustments to get every hole to its maximum potential. With that said, it may just be the nostalgic value of hanging around a plot that is starting to look like the course I grew up on, or it may actually be a good course (who knows), but I am having a great time with this one. It feels like my happy place. The pressure is off in regards to the things that I may not be as good it, which are creating a completely original plot and its surroundings, which allows me to focus on creating great holes, and capturing a real-life environment in detail. Hopefully the final product reflects these feelings for everyone else's enjoyment, but if not, at least I had a good time!
