Do people actually do this? A quick practice round, fair enough, but charts? Hell. Good lord.... I might consider this if i wasnt married, had kids, worked, had a life, or lived in moms basement. On second thought...no i wouldnt. But this just reminded me that i miss the practice setups which would noe require someone to sacrifice a society to setup. I didnt always play every round but it was a nice warm up and i appreciated those who did it in TGC1. Thanks HB I’ve done one for us plebs on CC-Pro

“And yes, the smart players will practice the courses in advance, chart each hole, determine which ones can use Player clubs and then, depending on the percentage, make their decision on what club to play.” Very sad that this is the new reality. Do people actually do this? A quick practice round, fair enough, but charts? Hell. TGC 1 was all about charts and math. TGC 2 has, for the most part, taken the math out of the game, at least for Tour Clubs. For Player Clubs, it appears the math still plays a role because driving is pretty much almost as easy as TGC 1 if not as easy. I still go back to what Anthony said before he left HB. He was against two different swings. We are now seeing the results of what he wanted to avoid.

Do u know want to know something, I don't give two hoots what club set u all want to use, and do u know why? Its because i know my live playing partner will be using the same clubs as me, so lets get this party started. Good luck all. Live playing partners should be banned (though I doubt they can enforce it). That’s ripe for anyone that likes to stretch the boundaries of the rules to get an advantage/cheat. Way worse than ghosts. Imagine getting to talk to a ghost about their shot? Not saying you do anything wrong. You’ve been a quality player a long time. But in principle, it’s an easy way to skirt the system. sorry, can of worms... Quality player? That's priceless. Anyway, I was in a party with them once and it resembled a Derek and Clive sketch, don't think club selection ever came into it. Disclaimer, do not click on this video if you are/were offended by old Euro Tour threads or swearing. This muppet version was shorter than the original Dudley Moore and Peter Cook version.

Thanks HB Wags is over exaggerating, but every hole in practice rounds will be analyzed thinking about how it’d play in the other mode. Or you could just play one round with each.

If you watch After Dark u can hear the guys using math out loud with Tour sticks. Assuming one set of sticks versus another brings back charting and math making it easier is absurd. While there may be some basic arithmetic being used to gauge distance and what club to use...its not even close to accurate like it was before...which is great. Its one of the few things HB got right.

Length of the holes is one thing, but with player clubs you don't have to worry about missing fairways or greens as much. I played a round with player clubs and almost every shot was perfectly straight. Tour clubs I have to focus more. Tour clubs you have to try and avoid the blow up hole while player clubs you can just go into auto pilot and go through the course. So over a 4 round tournament with longer holes it might take an extra shot to get there using player clubs but that doesnt mean you are losing a stroke since its very easy to mess up a tour swing.

Again, this will depend on the course and how punishing the designer wants to make it against Player Club players. I could design a course where it's suicide to use Player Clubs. You'd be giving up more shots than what you'd get back on a blow up hole. Mark my words. Designers are going to start designing for Tour Clubs. By Season 5, there won't be any TGC 1 style courses left to play IF the trend shows that Player Clubs have a distinct advantage on "normal" courses. So this season is going to determine a lot as far as how we move forward from here.

Some people will shoot better with player clubs, some people with tour clubs. Just play with the clubs that you feel you play best with.
Or...
if you want to play with the clubs you feel bring more realistic outcomes then play with that set but don't b%& and moan when people beat you. I play with no grids because it's more realistic to me but I don't b%& and moan that people are sinking more putts than I.
That is all. Good luck for the seasons peeps.

At least I know we had one for the old EUR-Tour, and I just joined one for the new PGA-Tour.

"yet contrary to PGA they're to police themselves?"
PGA officials are siphoning a lot more money than any of them deserve to live their lavish lifestyles and compensated quite well for their "valuable time" ... TGCTours is not the PGA. It's a hobby. It's run by volunteers. And there's nothing else like it. So, good luck.

Well, miracles can happen. After a 4 over in round 1 tonight, I shot a 5 under round 2. I'm under par for the tourney after 2. Do I dare dream? LOL.
