Want a snippet of what it can be like to live in "Trump" country? Here's an actual conversation - obviously not transcribed, but no exaggeration in the retelling below - I overheard in the clubhouse yesterday between two old men...
"This'll probably offend someone, but you know what I say? Build the damn wall..."
"I disagree, no..."
"What, would you like to be that murdered kid's parents, having those illegals killing our people?"
"No, but a 50cal shell is a lot cheaper than a wall."
"Right, just blow their damn heads off if they come close!"
So we can have all the substantive conversations we want, but there's just no way anyone is ever getting through to some people, not going to happen.

I saw a video posted by Turning Point USA - a right-wing media outlet - where Charlie Kirk makes what TPUSA claims is the best argument for the wall (their caption)
Among the arguments, Kirk claims that undocumented immigrants are responsible for a drain to the economy of $135 million. Set aside that the figure he presents doesn't account for contributions (because they are not measurable), that figure is not 3% of the $5 billion Trump wants to start building the wall, let alone the $20 billion of the entire estimated cost.
At that rate, just building the wall will cost us the same amount of money as completely funding all undocumented immigrants for 37 years. To fund the entire expense of the wall for 10 years, we would need the equivalent of completely supporting all undocumented immigrants for 148 years.
Kirk also makes claims about crime committed by illegal immigrants - but is suspiciously limiting the statistic to Arizona - that seems absurdly inflated. To be fair, I have not researched all the criteria for that statistic and it does warrant some research to learn how he came up with that figure. I will assume that there is some way to justify the statistic if you squint hard enough.
Again, just to recap, we need to spend $20 billion on a wall so we can save $1.35 billion over the next 10 years. We have to do this because... ??
Why not just assign case workers and get immigrants vetted more thoroughly through already existing laws and programs? Then let them pay tax and use the savings to help Americans. That would be my idea.

Astounding that the media have to discuss things like a delayed telecast of the address to the nation so they can fact check in real time the lies he will undoubtably tell.
It’s like allowances are being made for his dishonestly rather than him being made accountable. It’s absurd.

When people are given false information and numbers (like the ones Trump, Huck-Sanders, Pence and others are giving out) there are people who will believe them - even if they know they are lying. The WH doesn't even use it's own numbers appropriately from DHS when making their argument for a border wall.
First things first, any new walls are not going to solve the problem. A wall is not a panacea.
If Dems were smart though, they would introduce their own bill that addresses fixing the existing walls and fund more modern ways and means. Call it the "Border Security and Restoration Bill", take the word "wall" out completely and that legislation gets done. The bill would provide furthing funding for CBP, updated equipment and restore the existing barriers with whatever makes the Trump liars happy. Just undercut President Prick with a better bill. It will also give them Senate leverage with voters in 2020 Senate races.
Government shutdown and holding innocent people's paychecks hostage not needed.

what the crap is he going to talk about tonight anyway? Is there anything he can say that he hasn't said? Anybody else he can rope in to say how great he is?
I am dead serious...I don't think tonight will be him trying to "sway" anyone or even "blame shift".
The only thing I can imagine is that he is going to announce some action, policy, or political move that will make things 10 times worse. What? I have no idea. Maybe he'll simply announce he's declaring an emergency like he threatened. Maybe he'll announce he's sent more troops or something. I just cannot imagine him taking the time on all these networks to simply keep stroking his ignorant idea of a "crisis".
I swear if he parades out some family or something who lost a loved one to an illegal immigrant I'm going to throw something at my TV. Especially if he does it WITHOUT their permission.
...A - hole.

He's going to exploit the pain of a few families who lost loved ones to illegals, use them as a reason for this silly wall, then talk sht about Democrats, Hillary and Obama. Include the lies as a given, we all know there will be plenty of lies and bullsht in those 8 minutes. If he tries to use a national emergency excuse to take the money from the military he will be facing some serious legal challenges. I just took my dog for a walk. Didn't see any national security issues or crisis here in Reno.

So, here's how human trafficking works, according to the Traitor....
"They grab someone, throw them in a van with no windows or air, blindfold them and tape their mouths shut and then drive them across the border."
His words, not mine.
But what's more disturbing, he doesn't care people are not getting paychecks. He does not care one bit.
He is such an imbecile. But yea, go ahead and vote for him again - maybe those people will be the next ones to go without pay for a month of more.

I don't get it? Why is border security such a problem. The politicians all say we need better boarder security but can't compromise on it.
Seems like putting politics ahead of the people.

I don't get it? Why is border security such a problem. The politicians all say we need better boarder security but can't compromise on it. Seems like putting politics ahead of the people. It is putting politics ahead of people. Nobody has a problem with border security. Everyone would like for it to be improved. The problem lies with a wall being the solution. It is not. Another part of the problem is that there isn't a plan. There's a ton of different prototypes that money was wasted on. But there isn't an actionable plan presented by anyone when it comes to what "border security" as a whole looks like or costs. Trump wants money just to say he won some kind of political battle vs Democrats. That $5.6 billion is a nothing-burger when it comes to what the entire costs will be. But without a plan to be held accountable to, the costs will blow through the ozone. I don't understand why Traitor is holding innocent people hostage for that money. People who have nothing to do with his beef on this with Dems. He's a pure turd.
